I visited Firestone on Robert Street in St. Paul to have my tires balanced. The experience left me with mixed impressions. When I brought the car in, I was told the lifetime balance and rotation warranty no longer applied--even though it's for the original purchaser, the tires are still on the same wheels and vehicle, and the agreement clearly states it's a lifetime service. When I questioned this, the agent said there it was five years, then that there wouldn't be a charge and that he'd take care of it. I appreciated that, but it left me confused as to why the warranty terms were dismissed in the first place. While the service was being performed, the technician began a multi-point inspection even though I had specifically requested only a tire balancing and no rotation. I stopped them, but they had already marked the air filter as dirty--which is surprising, since it was recently replaced and the vehicle has not been driven much since then. Most concerning, though, was that they inflated the tires to 45 PSI--well above the manufacturer's recommended 30 PSI stated clearly on the vehicle label. That's not just excessive, it's potentially dangerous. I had to let the air out myself afterward to correct the issue. I called the shop after my visit to let them know the tire pressure was 15 PSI over the recommended level. They mentioned the issue could be related to the automatic tire inflation system (?) and assured me they would check to make sure it's working properly. I appreciate that they took the concern seriously. The balance service was ultimately done at no charge, but the inconsistencies in communication and the overinflation issue give me pause about returning in the future. read more

I have been a loyal Firestone customer for 18 years, but today was the last straw. It was bad enough when we found out that the Alternator that we were was bad on 05/09/24 had and replaced, was never, in fact, replaced. We were charged for it though. I spoke with the latest manager (this location seems to churn through employees quickly now), and he just said that was different management so basically not his problem. I've contacted Firestone multiple times about this to no avail. Now, today I had an appointment for an oil change and when I got there, the man at the front desk told me that there were already 2 other appointments set for 3 PM (my appt time) and that he had moved my appointment to Wednesday at that time. I asked why I wasn't informed and he said that I must have called the main scheduling number and it was up to them to inform me, not him. I couldn't believe that he just couldn't be bothered to do anything to correct this when I informed him I had driven 90 minutes for this appt. He just said to come back on Wednesday if I wanted their services or not. This location used to offer exceptional services and it's slowly gone down over the years, but when I location literally commits fraud by charging for an item but never actually performing the service, it's time to move things forward and sadly end my very long relationship with Firestone. read more

This is the second time I have arrived at this particular location and they have opted not to walk up to the car and offer assistance. Needed air in tires. The customer service here is abominable. They act as if they are entitled and the customer needs them. Steer clear of this location because discount tire treats you to much better. I will be going to corporate as well because the higher ups need to know who the front-facing staff hired to represent the company are. The attitude needs serious adjustment. They need to be humbled. Please do a complete restructure of the staff here - they are ruining the valuable history behind the Firestone name. read more

My son drove to the Firestone in West St. Paul (1170 Robert St.) from Bismarck to purchase all new tires for his Mazda 3. He made an online appointment for a specific set of tires on a Sunday prior to the Friday for the appointment. That's an entire business week. When he arrived on that Friday he was told the tires were out of stock but they could order a similar tire. Of course this similar tire cost more money... a lot more. Why in the world didn't they have the courtesy of contacting him Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday before he drove 6 hours for his appointment? Obviously to rip him off. So, he left the car for the weekend. He told them explicitly he did not want Road Hazard Protection because he's a college student in Bismarck where there are no Firestones. So he can't afford the hazard insurance and it would be worthless up there anyhow. The day he picked up his car (Sunday) they added it to the bill. They lied and told him there was some special discount that would make it free. Overall his bill was about $400 more than he expected. He called them back a few hours later to ask for the road hazard insurance to be remove and the store manager said "No, I refuse to. If you have a problem with it call corporate!". My son is a young man still learning the ways of the world and how jerks like this take advantage of people So, I called Firestone corporate and explained everything. I was promised the regional manager would contact me within 2 days to discuss this. It's been two weeks and he never called. This is so unfortunate because I live in Ohio and I work with a local Firestone I love. We have their lifetime alignment and their tires on 5 vehicles. I get all of my oil changes done there too. But based on these crooks in St. Paul I'm ready to stop doing all business with Firestone forever. They are crooks who take advantage of young people that can't afford to waste money on their lies. Don't go to the Firestone in West St. Paul for anything, ever! read more

Because they didn't have a account setup through the parts place they went through I had to personally pay for the part and now here I am Monday where the guy tells me come back just for nobody to be here at 8:15am when they open at 7:00am it sucks because their still going to receive my money for the fix whenever I receive service...... read more

I took my 2019 Ram 1500 Limited truck there to switch out winter tires for summer tires. Once the work was done, and as the technician was backing my truck out of the garage. He hit the passenger side rear view mirror on the side of their garage. I was standing inside at the desk with the other service person and we both saw and heard the noise when he did it. The guy at the desk went out, looked and had the nerve to come ask me if I noticed if there were some scratches on the car before I brought it there. I'm thinking to myself, you have to be kidding me! We both just saw and heard the tech hit the side of the garage. So of course, the manager Omar was not available because it was on the weekend. So, I kindly ask him to contact me about getting a repair. Basically, after going back and forth with Omar. He said his manager said they could only get the part and do the repair themselves, in the shop. Of course, I did not want that but I just wanted my mirror to be fixed so I agreed. Brought my car back into the shop. They put the new rear-view mirror on. It seemed to work. Looked good until I started the truck and started checking things in the truck. The first problem was my surround view camera was not showing the driver side view. Before this, the driver's side door never had a problem. There was nothing wrong with it. When I went back into the store to ask about it, the technician that was supposed to be the engineer in charge said that the guy that did the work thought it was the driver side door instead of the passenger side door, and he took apart the driver side door and must have not reconnect a wire. So, they bring my truck back into the shop. They take a look, and the engineer in charge said he basically doesn't know how to fix it and that I'm going to have to take it to the dealer. I took it to a dealer. Got an estimate and along with the driver side door problem, I noticed that all my inside panels except for one back door were loose and flapping. Now. I don't know why they had to undo all the inside door panels to basically fix the front passenger side door mirror. But they did, so I took to Hastings Ram and they said everything was fine. Everything was working and they just pushed the panels back into the inside of the doors. Mind you, they are still loose and flapping when I open and close the doors. So, Hastings Ram missed something during their inspection! $300+ later for the rental car and for having the dealer to check my truck. I texted Omar, the Firestone manager, to get reimbursed. It's now been multiple weeks and he has stopped responding to me. So as a last resort, I posted a Google review explaining my issue with the hopes that someone in management at Firestone will see it and help resolve this issue for me by doing the right thing in this situation. One last thing to show just how incompetent the employees at this Firestone location are. I recently bought a new set of summer tires from Costco in Woodbury MN and had them installed on Mar 16th 2024. The Costco tech told me that the tires I had on my truck have directional tread and that the back 2 tires were put on incorrectly. So, I've basically been driving my truck in an unsafe configuration since the original date of the service by Firestone, which was the weekend of Dec 29th 2023. That is about 2 1/2 months! I went here for a standard conventional oil change. My car was there for over 6 hours, and I was charged $42.00. The guy who called to tell me my car was done left a voicemail with all of the standard scam upsell crap that shady mechanics try to pull on women. When I went to pick up my car, the cashier was rude. Save your time and money, and just go to Valvoline. It's cheaper and takes 15 minutes. read more

I have coming to this shop for about a year a half for tires and routine maintenance. It's a pleasure to do business with Andy and Jake. They are helpful, professional, and care about customer satisfaction. Last week my car was at the dealer for service on the airbag recall. The guy said I could use an alignment. I said I'd check it out, and brought my car to Firestone. They checked and said the car didn't need an alignment. I appreciate their competence and honesty. These guys majorly helped me out when my car broke down nearby on Hwy 52 in afternoon rush hour. Not from the area, I googled auto repair places, and randomly gave these guys a try because they were close by. I called and asked if they replaced serpentine belts, and they did. My insurance provided a tow truck to their shop. They checked the car out to make sure nothing else was wrong, and they were able to get me up and running again and on my way home (out of town) in a reasonable time, and at a reasonable price considering what a jam I was in. I had a great experience because they were totally honest with me and only charged for the work they did. Another mechanic told me I needed to replace my rear brakes and rotors and was going to charge me a lot. The mechanic at Firestone looked at my brakes, took the car for a test drive and didn't find anything wrong. They called me and told me that the car was fine and didn't charge me. It was a rare case of a mechanic being very straight up. I'm not looking forward to needing more work done but Firestone will be my go-to. read more

Had my car towed in there on a Friday around 4. They changed my alternator (for the 4th time) even though it was not bad. An they didnt call me to ask if they could change it even though it was under warranty they just did it. Still no phone call on Sunday finally I called and asked if it was done Friday after noon the guy said it was. I was going to pick it up on Monday morning. I called to find out the price and the guy said it wasnt fixed and they had to do a diagnostic test on it but needed my approval (which no one called to tell me this) I gave them the approval... Still no calls back on Tuesday I call again and they said they still hadn't gotten to it. That they would by Tuesday evening.... Still no calls ..Yup finally i call around 4pm they said they couldnt get any of the lights to turn on to run the test to see what was wrong. So I asked if it was ok to drive so I could switch body shops. An he said yes it was fine. So we went to pick the car up an again they said no lights would go on. They said the guy the tech thinks it's a part that may cost 2,000 dollars.. yup not worth the price to fix. . So I go to my car and 3 lights instead of 2 show up.. I tell the guys there an he comes out and just turns my car off and goes inside. Than says no one will be able to look at it on Thursday cause the tech was out. So I ask about Friday and he says he couldnt promise it. Push comes to shove I call for a tow and have my car towed to Paul's auto and tire in Inver Grove Heights. It took them not even 5 hours to look at my car and fix it!!!! AN they did it for not even close to 2,000 dollars!! I would suggest NEVER going to firestone in west st paul. They do not care about you or your car. read more
