For northern Virginia, before there was subway there was Bozelli's. The best quality meats, fresh cheeses and baked bread are the signature characteristics of their sandwiches and subs. Bozelli's was doing cold subs and sandwiches WAYYY before Jered. A long time ago, when I was working a summer job in Lorton in the 80s, I used to get Bozelli's at their old location on Route 1. Back then the business was operated by a couple of Italian immigrants who knew their craft and eventually built a family icon that has now three locations: Springfield, Arlington and Ft. Belvoir. Today, even though the Bozelli brothers have pretty much handed the business down to the younger generation, the quality and service is still as good as it gets. I highy recommend the "Metro Sub" - it is the bomb. Whenever I go to this place I have to get this classic italian sub on fresh baked white bread that is fluffy and full of amazing flavor. The pepperoni steak & cheese is another mouth-watering Bozelli's classic that is a must for anybody looking to try a something a little different. Who would have thought that in this little town, we would find such a delicious Italian deli? As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with a homey vibe, pictures on the wall, cool bottled drinks in the fridge, and wine and special jams for sale. We lined up at the counter to decipher the menu of pizza, pastas, and subs. The written menu was a little confusing to order from and I didn't realize you could also pick bread and extra toppings/condiments until after I had ordered my prosciutto and mozzarella 8" sub. Luckily, the people were nice enough to change my bread to wheat. I also didn't notice the entire breakfast menu on the left wall - so many more choices! If you dine here and like to see all the options, I'd recommend asking for the printed menu so you don't miss anything. The sub itself was delicious. The prosciutto wasn't too salty as prosciutto often is and complemented the gooey melted mozzarella. There were also roasted red peppers in the sandwich though I probably would have preferred a few slices of tomato instead. All in all, a great sandwich, though a little pricey for $9. One of my friends was adventurous and ordered a large Hawaiian pizza for $10. Of course, pizza takes longer to prepare than sandwiches but as compensation for the extra wait, he received an extra drink, two slices of pie, and two cappuccino chocolate chip cookies, free of charge! We came here because it has decent reviews but we really didn't think it was all that great. I had the meatball which was tasteless and mediocre. My husband got steak and provolone which was better than meatball but not much better. And the turkey breast was little flavorful than the other 2 sandwiches. We got 3 trays for seasoned fries, and the portion was huge. So next time, it's better to get one. And next time we will try their pizza to have full judgment on the entire store itself. Awesome place. Now let's break down this 5 star rating: 1. All of the staff are friendly and professional. 2. The food (that I tried) tastes great. 3. I enjoy pizza with a pillowy crust and I would consider theirs to be a happy medium between the super thick crust some shops make and the thin N.Y. Style I'm used to. I really like this place, usually go here once or maybe twice a week it's a good place for a quick lunch or to pick up food if you're on the go. The online ordering system seems to need a little help but overall it's not bad. I usually get steak and provolone or the pepperoni steak and provolone sadly they only come in 7 inch varieties I probably buy a bigger one if they had it but 7 inches is good. The metro classic Italian sub is also very good I usually order them as they come don't make much changes. They also have in-house made green tea and fruit punch which is good I've never had the pizza but it looks very good, and will try it some. I see the signs for large pizza and bottle of wine. It's easily my favorite deli in the NOVA area. They care about their customers, their products, and the word of mouth that comes with good pizza! I cant really get it all in here, but I'll try. The pizza here is top notch, with pepperonis that are the size of a small fist. Its as authentic as NY Street Pizza as I think you can get outside of NY. The subs here are amazing, and I really cant just make it up. Hot fresh pressed bread, peppers, quality ingredients, the works. I really think a lot of people hate on this place just to side with the Italian Store in Rosslyn, as if there was some mob backed deli war going on through internet review sites?!? Maybe I'm on to something here. They always have new and rotating stuff too. Like the NY Pretzel Roll sandwich, fresh squeezed juice, cakes, mini cupcakes, cheesecake, and God bless the Lou's Ice Tea (On Tap, no less). Last time I was at Bozzeli's I was chatting up the staff about a Pizza/Peperoni Roll idea, and you know what -they made the time to hear me out, and will actually give it a shot. For some reason Google Maps doesn't think you can make a left into this plaza from Backlick/Alban Rd, but you can. I've only tried the steak, pepperoni, and cheese, but it was quite good. The bread is good, certainly better than Subway, and the meat is decent enough. When I have a chance to try more of their options I'll try to write an update. I would probably give it four stars if it was bigger (finding a table during lunchtime can be tough) and more convenient to Ft Belvoir (they do have a location on post, but it doesn't seem to serve the full menu). read more

No complaints! Went here for the first time this past Saturday evening. The atmostphere in the place is much more lively than it looks from the outside. It feels welcoming and home-y. Not the nonsense that places around here call a Buffalo Chicken Pizza, grilled chicken? Wrong. Zesty BBQ sauce? It's a BUFFALO Chicken Pizza you jag offs. Onions? Sure, I'll give you that one. My craving finally hit the breaking point and I called 4 or 5 other places who refused to accept my custom order, but not Bozelli's! After some initial confusion the manager took over the phone call and had no problem making the pizza for me. When I went to pick it up, it immediately passed the eye and smell tests. A strong buffalo sauce scent on the nose, deliscious little bits of fried chicken poking through the cheese, and crispy buffalo fries adorning the top. Asempting as it was to eat right there, I had to take it home to share with my wife. Upon taking the first bite, I was pissed off at myself for not calling and ordering the pizza sooner. It was everything I had been craving for 5 years. It was so good in fact that I called up Bozelli's to thank them again and tell them how good it was. Over the years we've ordered almost everything on the menu and recommend Bozzelli's highly. Recently we ordered popular (delicious) metro subs, and pizza. (We ordered regular crust , tasted great and no skimping re toppings). The skinny salad ingredients were also very fresh, large enough for two meals or sharing. Now let me speak on the one item that Bozzelli's does well, their pepperoni steak and cheese. This sandwich is awesome. I'm sure if you removed the pepperoni, this would fall flat as an average steak and cheese, but I've yet to come by another place that offers this pepperoni and steak combination. These flavor profiles mix well and the quality of each meat stands out. Pricewise, Bozzelli's runs pretty steep at about $11 for a 12" sandwich. Maybe it's the deliciousness of everything we've ever eaten here, from subs to pizza to appetizers to a great and incredibly reasonably priced beer and wine selection. Pro tip: Order the fried green beans, that don't always appear on the menu. Very kid-friendly, with a nice little stash of toys, crayons, games, etc. Hands down, my favorite pizza in the area. Wow! This was an unexpected surprise. I was visiting a friend and we decided to head over to Costco (because who doesn't go Costco shopping on their vacations???) to take a few laps up and down the aisles. We were starving and decided to try to grab something to eat before hitting Costco and succumbing to eating entirely too many free samples. We hit up another restaurant first, but it was dead and kind of dingy looking so we walked outside and saw Bozzelli's. What a great last minute decision! We each got a small pizza. I'm all about white pizzas so that was my pick. It had lots of white stuff (garlic sauce and cheese) and some green stuff as well (spinach). The pizzas came out fast and were great! I really liked the crispy crust. Service was stellar. The guys working the counter were super helpful and friendly. Bozellis consistently delivers great food at a reasonable price and a relaxed atmosphere Food/drink - my favorites are their chicken Parmesan sub and their white pizza. I won't even get a chicken parm sub anywhere else - no point! We've tried some of their fried apps - green beans, ravioli, and almost anything else you can think of frying. Their side salads are tasty and substantial. They have good quality beers available, but the selection is a bit small. However, I have always found a beer that I liked. There is no bar, but they do have two beers on draft. The food is the major draw here though - it's great! The only food that wasn't my favorite was the spaghetti and meatballs, but on the whole, the food here is excellent Atmosphere - very relaxed. Order at the counter and they'll bring the food to the table. The place is kid friendly in that they offer toys and coloring, but it's not a kiddie free for all or anything along those lines. You clean up you own table. Very relaxed and warm atmosphere We also like to pick up from here to take to Fairwinds and Forge breweries that are nearby I'll be back again and again for sure. Posting review based on the 3 minute experience I just had, walking in and then walking out. I had just finished a trip to Costco and was wondering where I could stop to get a quick bite to eat nearby so of course I opened my yelp app! This restaurant was offering a check-in discount for 15%, which I clicked and it said it was available for 4 hours. So I drove over to the restaurant. Firstly when I walked in there was nobody in the restaurant and the two gentlemen behind the counter were having a discussion and failed to greet me. They finally took a break in their conversation and I showed the gentleman behind the counter the 15% discount and said this is the reason why I'm here I thought I would try you out because you were offering this discount. He insisted he had no idea what it was and could not honor it. With other highly rated takeout places in the area I took my business elsewhere. The girl who rang us up was really sweet, answered all of our questions, and was accommodating. I've been picky about certain meats & textures, so they modified my Metro Italian sub by substituting the mortadella & capricola for turkey and heated it up! You gotta get the hot peppers too! They were SO good! My husband ordered a large Mama's Spicy Feta & it was equally delicious! And wine for $1.99 if you order a large pizza! Twist my arm! After ordering I was browsing the deli case and the marinated mushroom salad and caprese salad looked amazing, as well as all of the Italian desserts! The old school location on Route 1 is gone it was perfect especially the pepperoni steak sub I believe they make their own bread is was expensive but they made it up with the portion it was huge. The new location on Alban road kept the expensive price but the portion is not there that's why the rating is lower and I hardly go there anymore. read more

My boyfriend and I moved to Lorton recently and quickly found this Bozzellis to be our number one "go-to" spot when we don't feel like cooking. The subs are delicious. My favorite is the eggplant parm sub. My boyfriend usually gets the steak sandwich. We love their seasoned fries, too--they remind us of Arby's fries but better! Pizza is delicious, too. Man does Bozzelli's bring back memories for me when they were on the corner of Route 1 and Telegraph rd. In Lorton, Waiting in line to order was just as much fun as dining in that tiny little place! Always made a great pizza and the subs, oh man the subs. My one and only go to sub is the pepperoni steak and cheese! It's the best! I always thought this was the best lunch spot when I worked in the area and even to this day over in the Newington location driving 20 minutes from Alexandria to dine in and get my sub. Bozzelli's is one of the only few places left from my childhood that still lives up to it's great tasting food and never disappoints! I think I will need to make a trip up there this week! read more
