Great little candy store. Little. It's little. REALLY little. But like Dr. Who's TARDIS, it's a lot bigger than it may seem...they have a ton of stuff...great old style candy, like Turkish taffy, bubble gum cigars, hot dogs, etc. (And yes, they also have a lot of the high fructose corn syrup shizzle that passes for today's candy). Best of all, IMO, they have a large selection of "craft pop," some of it locally made! I find that one or two of these bottles seem to be the perfect thing to drink with a takeout pizza from Inky's or Rival's! Definitely stop in, and bring your kids. Let 'em load up on candy. Great local candy store. Very knowledgeable staff and during this covid pandemic they are being very safe only allowing four customers at a time in the store, having hand santizer at the door and getting any bulk candy for you and they go as far as to require you to have your nose covered with your mask when you enter the store, wish all stores in the area were this responsibe. They have every candy imaganible and a very knowledgeable staff. They have a lot of varieties of sodas. My only complaint is I wish they carried some sugar free pops. This is a fun store that everyone should check out at least once. read more

From the cute exterior to the selection inside, Boyd's is a Toledo must. When I first moved to Ohio my mom found it on a list of "Toledo sites to see" and we all made a trip. The inside is very small and cramped, but don't let that deter you - every possible space is crammed with candy. From the retro stuff that your parents have probably told you about (or maybe you've told your kids about) to the newer stuff and even things I would never think of, Boyd's definitely has something for everyone. We spent well over an hour just going through the selection. I, personally, don't have much of a sweet tooth, but even just visually it was so much fun to be there and read the wrappers and listen to the people reminiscing. Awesome store! So many candies from so many eras. My husband was so excited he dropped 50 bucks, easy, on a huge bag of stuff he hasn't seen since childhood. They also have newer niche type candies. If you like ginger beer they have a good selection. There is a really spicy one called werewolf that he liked. Great place to kill a little time. read more

Great little shop! We are so lucky to have this gem in Toledo! I've been here 3 times in one month. So much to choose from. Candy I haven't seen since I was a child. Remember the little chocolate "Ice Cubes"? They still melt in your mouth. If you are making a candy board, this is the place to go. The sizes are single serving. The only issue I had was with the bulk candy. I purchased a pound and when I left, I popped a piece in my mouth. It was hard and stale. I walked back inside and was told the candy was supposed to be hard. Then someone checked the date on the bulk bag and the candy expired nearly 3 months ago. The store gladly refunded my money and I bought something else. Moral: Taste the candy before you leave the store. read more

I have an incredible sweet tooth. I came across Boyds while doing my thing on the streets of Toledo. OK, get your minds out of the gutter because my thing happened to be driving a hack. Boyds has almost every candy ever made. Ok, maybe I'm overstating it a bit, but you will not leave here without something you remember from your childhood. Remember when your allowance was a dollar and it was plenty to give Godzilla a toothache? Boyds has penny candy, Jelly Bellys and lots of other candy I am at a loss to name. In case you don't live in or near Toledo. they also do mail order which is a plus. They are a very friendly place, and oh yeah, before I forget they also sell retro sodas, stuff you thought was gone forever. I, like Radar O'Reilly am nuts for Grape Nehi. I had never experienced it, and when I did, I was in love, or maybe lust. I looked all over Toledo for a source of the purple nectar, but alas, Boyds turned out to be the only place that has it in NW Ohio. Next time youre in T-town looking for something sweet, go to Boyds and step back into your childhood. Yes, you can drop a few bucks here, but not too many and hey, you might just find yourself a little younger and yes, those grape stains on your lips will eventually come off. read more

They have an awesome selection of candies and Pamela was so helpful - she took the time to explain the benefit of buying bulk rather than prepackaged and went over all the math with my son :). Oh yeah. So awesome. This is an old-time time candy store, like with the candy in glass containers on the shelf, like the old-time pharmacies. I went to Boyd's Retro Candy Store on my vacation. Boyd's is a great place to get candy. The prices are reasonably Low. The Staff is nice and will to help you find things. You can get packaged candy or make a bag up your favorite candy's. I LOVE there brand Caramel candy. The Aisles are a little tight but it is worth it for the candy vast selection. They also have candy maid with splenda. If their is something that you want that they don't have they will order it for you. It was like a flash from the past being able to find candy from the early 90s. I am guessing some of the stuff was originally popular in the 80s, but I wouldn't know. A fun stop for everyone. Limited to 2 kids at once, and some candy bars can be bought cheaper at stores. read more
