Boyd Cru Wines at Savage Mill is a beautiful setting for a Black-owned wine company. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the space feels inviting the moment you walk in. I had the sangria and really enjoyed it. During my visit they were hosting a shea butter class in the back and an author selling her book in the front, yet there was still plenty of room for walk-ins to sit and enjoy the experience. A lovely spot I'd definitely visit again.

Boyd Cru Wines is such a perfect spot for a girls' day or a cozy date in the DMV. From the moment you walk in, the space feels warm and welcoming, like an instant energy shift in the best way. It's Maryland's only African American owned, family operated winery, and you can really feel the heart behind it! The wine menu is seasonal and fun, and their wine cocktails are perfect if you're in the mood for something festive. Since it was my first visit, I went for a wine flight and tried Ubiquity, Audacity, and Rapture, which is one of their seasonal pours. I enjoyed all of them, but Rapture and Ubiquity were definite standouts for me. Also, do not skip the cookies. The toffee salted caramel one was a favorite!! One thing I really loved is that you can sip and shop local at the same time. They feature rotating local vendors, from artwork and handmade jewelry to body butters and other small business finds, which makes the experience feel even more special. Boyd Cru also does an amazing job celebrating diverse and inclusive stories, especially through thoughtful touches like featured children's books and community focused highlights throughout the space. On top of that, they regularly host events like live music and open mic nights, which really adds to the sense of community and makes it a place you want to come back to. Overall, it's cozy, welcoming, and full of personality. Definitely a spot worth visiting whether you're a wine lover or just looking for a relaxed place to spend an afternoon or evening

I came here today to support a friend of a friend who is djing. I have walked past the winery before and made a mental note to stop in. I ran across their wine club online and when my friend asked me to attend this coming weekend, it was definitely alignment. Always happy to support a black woman owned / minority business, I was more than thrilled to see what they had to offer. The owner Jon'll was in attendance and provided insight on the mission of Boyd Cru Wines and also their dedication to helping other entrepreneurs by featuring their products. International award-winning Indie author Rona D had a pop up with two books that I grabbed a copy of to give as a gift (I'm gonna read it first though lol) How could you not have a flight when attending a new winery? It's impossible so we decided to go with flights. I wasn't a fan of the sparkling Liberated Embers wine which was described as having a velvety finish or the Free Spirited Rose but that's normal for me (not a sparkling or rose girlie) However, I did enjoy the Living Legacy Red Bliss and ultimately ordered a sangria quickly after finishing the flight. After trying some of the cheesecake and pairing it with each wine selection, it allowed me to enjoy them. They do offer some food choices such as as charcuterie boards, flat breads, desserts, and snackables to accompany the wine. nd other cocktails to enjoy. I can definitely see myself coming back just for the vibes and did I mention how gorgeous it was inside? Look at these pictures. The decor is definitely on point!

Our group of girlfriends had an awesome time visiting this cute and curated tasting room recently! The decor is lovely and I definitely had my eye on a piece of art on the wall from the currently featured local artist. On to the wine. We bought three bottles for the table - Sparkling Vidal Blanc, Free Spirit Rosé and Living Legacy Red Wine Blend. Coming in with hearty appetites we also ordered charcuterie, 2 flat breads and dessert. We liked the sparkling and the rosé but no one in the group was a fan of the red wine blend. They do make a full body - Audacity - that is currently out of stock until the fall. Our server was very attentive and shared all the deets on Boyd Cru and their offerings. She was a lot of fun too. In the background while taking in the wine, food, and decor is a great playlist which caused us to occasionally break out in a sing a long. We finished off our outing with some of the wine cocktails and popcorn. A great time all around and Boyd Cru is worth a visit!! p.s. They also host events. Check them out!

Saturday, We visited Boyd Cru Wines and left completely impressed. Tucked inside Savage Mill in Howard County, this Black-owned, family-run winery offers not just great wine, but an unforgettable vibe. Even without a reservation, the staff welcomed us with warmth and professionalism. Their hospitality was top tier from start to finish. We tried: * The Cru Flight - a perfect introduction to their wine selection * Pepperoni Flatbread - crisp, cheesy, and flavorful * Mini Charcuterie Board - small but mighty with the perfect pairings * Blossom Blush - a light, refreshing signature cocktail The ambiance was lively, thanks to a talented DJ spinning good energy all night. Every detail felt intentional and inviting. Final Thoughts: Make a reservation. If you're looking for a cozy, vibrant wine experience with quality drinks and even better service, Boyd Cru Wines is a must-visit.

Birthday Wine Dream Come True - May 27, 2025 Boyd Cru Wines was the first stop to kick off my birthday celebration, and let me tell you--worth every wrong turn. We arrived in Savage, MD, parked near the railroad, and spent a few minutes trying to find the exact location. (Pro tip: walk past the bridal shop and enter near the More Than Java Café sign--then make a right. It's tucked away like a hidden gem should be!) I called for help, and the staff was incredibly friendly and walked me through directions with ease. The space itself is stunning. Think cozy-meets-chic: velvet chairs, beautiful natural lighting, geometric bookshelves, and a welcoming layout that makes you feel like you just stepped into a boutique wine lounge. We didn't have a reservation, but the owner greeted us warmly and seated us in the Book Nook, which felt like our own private VIP lounge. Eden, our host and wine guide, was phenomenal. Her energy was warm, and her knowledge of each wine on our Cru Flight ($30) made the experience feel elevated and fun. She explained the grapes, the origins, how each one should taste, and even offered relatable, funny takes on how each wine would make you feel. You could tell she had passion for what she does! We ended up ordering a mini Smith Island cakes($12) (red velvet = elite!), and then moved on to their seasonal wine cocktails. I got the Blossom Blush ($12) and it was everything--light, floral, and strong enough to make me forget I said I'd share. Service was exceptional, the vibe was unmatched, and the wine? Chef's kiss. This Black-owned, family-run winery is now one of my top recommendations for a girls' day, date night, or even a solo sip and chill moment. I'll absolutely be back--next time for the flatbread I missed! Great for birthdays, tastings, or cute content days Support local, Black-owned, and passionate business owners

I love the energy of this place. The staff are so warm, welcoming and knowledgeable about their wines and pairings with food. The store is so bright and inviting with positive vibes. The artwork is absolutely stunning and did I mention the company is Black Owned. I love the events that they host and I will definitely come back to partake in their famous brunches. Try their wine flight to discover which one is your favorite. I hope to see you there and we can enjoy a refreshing glass of wine.

I've been following Boyd Cru Wines journey the last two years and to see that they now have a wine tasting room warms my heart. I stopped in one day after work recently (I did make a reservation) and immediately loved how beautiful and cozy the space felt. You have 3 options for seating when you make a reservation: community area, book nook, or bar. On my reservation, because I didn't know what to choose, I just went with the book nook, but when I arrived, I realized it was in the corner. The staff was really inviting and there was a person seated at the bar, so they let me know they were happy to have me sit at the bar or community area, so I went with the bar and I'm glad I did. I had a great convo with the guest already there and the staff that were taking care of us. I decided to go with the flight (I usually will get a flight from a winery I haven't been to before). The Cru flight includes the community Vidal blanc (their spin on a Sauvignon blanc), free spirit rosé, and the living legacy red wine blend. My favorite was the community Vidal blanc. I liked how light and refreshing it was. I also tried their liberated embers sparkling Vidal blanc which was also nice. You can also build your own charcuterie board and my only regret was not doubling the jerk chicken! Where have you ever seen jerk chicken on a charcuterie board??? Thought that was so cool and the jerk chicken was pretty good! Just wish I had more it haha. Ended my experience with their homemade dessert bites in the celebration birthday cake flavor, which was perfect! The staff was also so nice, knowledgeable about the wines, made me laugh, and made me feel invited. I will be back next to try wine cocktails, like their sangria.

Excellent from start to finish. Extremely welcoming, inclusive, friendly reception. The wines were all equally good. Our favorites included Community, Liberated Embers, and Living Legacy. Definitely worth the trip from DC to support this business. Will definitely return to sample the food offerings. The location has an interesting history and other interesting businesses.

If you haven't been to the newest local wine tasting room Boyd Cru, I encourage you to run....not walk. I had the most pleasant experience this week on my visit. My server was very kind and even gave me a bit of history on how they got started at Boyd Cru. The tasting room is decorated very nicely. I love that they feature local artists monthly to keep things fresh and new. It's a great venue for events! I've noticed that they are also curating events for the public to enjoy such as game night, and live music. I can't wait to enjoy more of Boyd Cru!

    Courtney L.

I was invited out by friends to game night here. The establishment is very clean, very organized, and such a vibe! The staff were very welcoming and attentive. For the wine selection, I had a glass of the Sparkling Vidal Blanc and the Vidal Blanc wines. They were delicious. We played games and listened to great music. Please come and visit!

I went to Boyd Cru Wines for the first time today and I know that this will be one of many visits. The service was great, everything was explained to us in detail, and they made sure that our glasses of water stayed full. I loved the decoration and the art that was displayed throughout the venue. There was a lot of natural lighting. There was music playing, it was an appropriate volume so we were able to have conversation but also enjoy the music. We tried the charcuterie board, flatbread pizza, and the wine flight. We really had a great time. I also purchased a bottle of wine to go!

I was really impressed by their commitment to supporting the community and showcasing other small businesses. That intention shows up in every detail, from the collaborations to the overall vibe. The food was so good. The jerk chicken was a standout, flavorful and perfectly cooked, and the charcuterie board was fresh, well-balanced, and beautifully done. Pair that with their wine cocktails and you're in for a treat. They're creative, well-crafted, and honestly some of my favorite wine-based cocktails I've had. What really sets Boyd Cru apart is that it's family-owned and operated, and they truly make you feel like family while you're there. Warm, welcoming, and intentional. Bonus: the space is also available to rent for private events, which is such a great option for anyone looking to host something intimate and meaningful. Highly recommend stopping by, whether for a tasting, a cocktail, brunch on Sundays or to support a local gem that's doing things the right way.

The whole place is a vibe. The decor is thoughtful, intentional, cozy, and inviting. The staff were welcoming, genuine, and extremely knowledgeable. Whether your are vino virgin or a cultured connoisseur, this spot is unpretentious and overwhelmingly welcome. But make no mistake... these ladies know their way around a grape, and they are well equipped to tell you whatever you need to know about what's in your glass. Let's get into these wines. I highly recommend the flight to get familiar with the different wines they have to offer. The Sparkling Vidal Blanc is not included in the pairing, so go on and get you a glass of that too. Trust me. The "Community" Vidal Blanc is easily one of the best bottles of white that has ever blessed my palate. Crisp, refreshing, full of bright, summery flavors but not too sweet... it's practically begging to be paired with a delicious plate of seafood (preferably one cooked with butter and lots of garlic). This is a great sipping wine, and an even better one to pair with dinner. The "Free Spirit" rose is another great sipping wine. Light, slightly sweet, and full of character, this was also a really great glass of wine. I like my reds a little bolder, so the "Living Legacy" red was not my favorite. It was still a good sip, and if you enjoy reds a little on the lighter side, this might be for you. Still worth a try in my book. Now I love bubbles and the only thing I enjoyed more than the vidal blanc was the sparkling vidal blanc! There's so much character in this bubbly... you'll have to taste and experience it for yourself. For me personally, it's high on the list of the best sparkling wines I've every had. If a plain glass of wine is not your thing, no worries. They also offer a number of wine-based cocktails, as well. In partnership with nearby businesses, the winery offers a limited variety of snacks including charcuterie boards, flatbreads, cake flights, as well as trail mix and popcorn available at the bar. I got the Smith Island Cake flight. While it's definitely not authentic Smith Island Cake, it's good to curb a raging sweet tooth. Speaking of partnerships, the winery also offers products from other local small businesses for sale: spices, body care products, jewelry and other items... So you can sip and shop. A few small areas of improvement I would recommend. -More, bigger and better signage...especially on the street. I was driving all around the area, then roaming all over Savage Mill Shopping Center before I finally found my way. -Provide more parking details, landmarks and directions on the website. (I ended up parking in a nearby neighborhood, only to find that there was a free parking lot available). -Expand snack offerings... perhaps sell individually packaged snacks from local businesses for purchase within the winery. -Consider adding a flight that will allow patrons to try all of the wines available. Shoutout to Eden and the crew for such a fantastic afternoon of good vibes and great wine. I'll be back... and I'm bringing friends!

We tried many wines, including: -the Crossvines Cabernet Franc-raisin and almost Nebbiolo overtones; -the Crossvines Barn Door red blend-balanced and warm with a hint of spice yet low tannin; -the Fairway rosé, which was light with great flavor and perfect with spring foods; -and the Riesling and then house ciders, with cherry and peach popular with different people. I brought several things for a raffle including the mayor bottle of wine , 2 tastings, and a wine flight for myself. There was no education or discussion about wine. I think it's the only winery in Laurel so I definitely wanted to come and support. I first went to check it out and see what information I could get to reserve for a large party. It's kind of located in the cut of main st but there's plenty of street parking. Walk in and you'll see there are two settings. It's very welcoming and warm with beautiful decor and many seating on both sides. I explained to the gentleman what I wanted and he said it shouldn't be no problem just reach out to the events manager. It was a bit last minute, I sent an email on 9/22 to come on 9/28 at 5:30pm (had to confirm the number of people). Just to clarify, we spoke on the phone and email for communication of all information. I noticed they had an event that same day but it started earlier in the day and the events manager told me it should end before my guests arrive. I told her I was having 20 people total and I was ordering two charcuterie boards. Everything was confirmed and good to go as I thought. My guests were letting me know they were arriving but were seated in the smaller area. I was hoping by the time I got there it would be handled but no they already started ordering in the smaller area and the staff there said they were told only 10 people were suppose to come but I showed them the emails. The event they had ran longer than it should have which I wish I would have known just to let my guests know. The staff then tried to fix it but literally a whole hour and half later. Once we got in the event room, we had our charcuterie boards and others order their suya and jollof rice. They did not finish their food, it actually looked dry. Before the day, I was told my guests were not able to do flights but the day of they were able to order. I wanted to order some for the party but it's okay, we all figured out which wine we liked best and a couple bought bottles. To end it, the staff brought out a cute cupcake for my friends to wish me happy birthday. They have a speaker for you to connect if you want to play your own music. Other than that, we had fun. Regardless, I'm going to have fun. I recommend to go and have your own experience. I will definitely come back for a last minute date or just to pick up one of the wine bottles I liked.
