Had dinner here when we got to town the first night. It was ok. I ordered the country fried steak. I'm from the South so I wasn't prepared for the brown gravy on it and the mashed potatoes. I visited this Restaurant based on reviews, I actually was disappointed. The Service was not exceptional at all, server wasn't rude but wasn't friendly either. The food was not horrible but wasn't outstanding. Perhaps if I didn't read the reviews I would say this eatery was average. Price was appropriate, I did not get a dessert so I cannot speak on any desserts. When I take the time to go out eat, I look for a wow factor, something that would make me want to return, and bring others with me. I did visit this eatery again, thinking it could have been the day of week, etc. had breakfast one time and lunch another. My view has not change. For me there are other restaurants that have over and above service and meals, and those places is where I will be returning. read more

It was served at the perfect temperature, had robust flavor, and the textures came together perfect. My aunt ordered the chicken noodle soup and BLT. The soup tasted so good, I ordered a quart to go. The onion petals were fried to perfection and were great for sharing. We ordered the apple dumpling with ice cream for dessert and it was definitely big enough for 2 people. The amount of apple included was unreal and similar to the other foods, it had wonderful flavor and texture. The homemade soft serve gave it the perfect added creamy touch. Billed as "the place where locals eat" , it is my favorite spot for breakfast. As a matter of fact, that's all I've ever eaten there. Blueberry pancakes are not on the menu but if you ask they may serve them up to you anyway (depending on whether you've used that little phrase above;) The pie's are also a treat but bring your sweet tooth because you'll have 15-20 options to choose from. My goodness. Bland bland bland hospital cafeteria style food. My wife's salad was nasty white iceberg lettuce without a single slice of tomato or cucumber. We both had the Country Fried Steak. Nasty little Food Service style steak with brown turkey gravy on it. The mash potatoes were thin and essentially tasteless. The potatoes also had the same "out of a jar" turkey gravy. We visit this Restaurant every March when we visit the area. We always try to go on Tuesday for the Ham loaf. We like it so well I don't remember the last time we ordered anything different. The sides are great and the service is fantastic. We missed last year since we didn't realize they close early on week days (3:30). First dish was BW Breakfast with 2 eggs, slight crispy outside and fluffy inside buckwheat pan cakes, and amazing large, lean, and tasty sausage. The portion is good sized and great tasting. The second dish was The Wreck with 1 egg, chunks of home fries, sausages, biscuit, pieces of vegetables all drench in sausage gravy. Frankly, the 2nd dish presentation was pale and messy, but after few spoonfuls, the individual flavor of each ingredients came through distinctly; biscuit was soft and flaky, the sausage chunks were smoky and flavorful, the stringy cheese melted evenly and bound the vegetables, sausage and biscuit together well enough that beckon for more bites. Best sit-down amish restaurant in town. Still has the time worn wood floors from the old days. There's a counter and stools just inside the door and tables and chairs around the corner. We always sit at the counter so we don't have to wait for a table. Waitress was very attentive. I ordered their combo breakfast which was 2 eggs, home fries, choice of meat, toast and sausage gravy. Only thing worth eating when it arrived were the eggs. Cooked perfectly over medium. Home fries are really undercooked shredded hash browns, sausage patty was an oddly shaped thin and curled up piece of something resembling shoe leather with a gamey taste. Sausage gravy on the side was made with the same so gamey as well. Sourdough toast wasn't toasted and didn't taste like sourdough. Hubby had buckwheat pancakes and scrambled eggs. Eggs were served to him on top of his pancakes and they weren't scrambled. They looked like they'd been poured into the pan and left, then flipped, then flopped on top of his pancakes. He had to ask for a plate to put them on to eat his pancakes. Buckwheat cakes were good though. Syrup was in a take out peel off the top container which was odd. He also didn't eat his unidentified patty of meat after tasting it. We'd go again for lunch but not for breakfast. read more

This diner, that has expanded into a full fledged restaurant space, serves a good mix of food you'd find at your run of the mill community picnic, and breakfast diner fare. I ordered the hamburger steak (two hamburger patties stacked on top of one another) with potato salad and corn. I was expecting a hamburger that had onions, peppers, bread, and egg mixed in the patty. But after, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked not having all that extra flavor, because I could taste the beef. The potato salad had shredded potatoes instead of cubed or mashed, was quite zingy and went well with the beef. Thankfully it was only a small portion, so I was able to eat it all. This is our 4th visit to Amish Country and for once, there wasn't a line out the door, so we jumped at the opportunity to eat here! The pre-dinner bread was to die for. We both ordered an onion ring appetizer, then fried chicken, mashed potatoes and hashbrowns with gravy for dinner. The fried chicken and mashed potatoes were mediocre, at best. The hashbrowns with gravy, A+. This meal (with app & drinks) was certainly not worth the $32.95 we paid. When we were leaving, the table next to us had fish and fries, which looked amazing. Unsure about the flavor of those. I'm not saying, don't eat here, but I'd avoid the fried chicken if you do.
