when I first found out about BoxLunch, very excited as I am a Ghibli fan. First order all mail delivery, no problem although the items arrived in separately but all came. 2nd Purchase multiple things again but only one was local store pick up; I wanted to test how reliable the local store pick up could be. The Mononoke shirt was stated as available and I chose it. All the mail delivery items came but the on-site pick-up up cancelled; farewell my Princess Mononoke! The funny thing I physically saw the same shirt with the exact size I ordered at the store before I made the online order. 3rd purchase all on-site pick up and I am testing this company how reliable is it. The phone app never showed the order completed even after 12 days (today). I used the Live-CHAT within the BoxLunch site. The chat started 3:45 pm EST and I have 3 questions. 1. why the Mononoke shirt was canceled 2. Third order took 12 days and has not yet been completed; then the Dragonball Z shirt is canceled; why? 3. when will all the items arrive at the store? By 5:10 pm only one question was resolved. Then I found out later in my email that the Totoro bowel arrived and because I did not pick it up within 5 days, canceled. The phone APP did not indicate anything about ready-to-pick-up. their IT team is terrible and wonder where BoxLunch hired the IT team from. If you sent out an email for item pick up but your APP sits still and nothing shows, what is the use of the phone APP??????????????? Al,so the items of one purchase arrived on a different day. So how many times does Boxlunch want be to drive to the store to pick up one item at a time? This is worse than Walmart or Target. And who will pay for my extra gas money? The agent gave me an excuse saying sometimes the item people selected is not available and Boxlunch has to cancel the order. This is 1997? What kind of software is BoxLunch using? The company has no idea of its inventory? Has the boss of BoxLunch ever seen a barcode before? Not to mention does he or she know how to use a barcode? This company has potential but if the boss is not awake its stoneage IT team is a shame. read more

I always shop at boxlunch and a loyalty member. I purchased 3 Funkos at the main place mall, they ran out of boxlunch money and she told me it's okay it will show up in my account. I went to this store and I showed the email, I have 3 of the lunch box money available, their manager told me that without the physical coupon I can't use it, but it says there in the email that I have 3 and I can just go to the store. Oh well I guess need to train your staff more, if the manager doesn't know boxlunch money gets attached to your account, then how are they going to lead the team? Wasn't sure what this store was when I saw my Yelp friend, Rohlin, check in here, but after reading his review I was curious to check it out. I am obviously not the Spectrum aficionado that I think I am because, I must have walked past this place several times without realizing it was here ;P What a really fun store! Not only are there tons of cool novelty items for sale in the store, it is operated on a really great concept, hence their name, "BoxLunch." I was warmly greeted by several members of the staff here. One salesperson informed me that for every $10 spent here, a box lunch would be donated to a local food bank like Second Harvest. How awesome is that?! One of the big draws in the store was all the cool Star Wars stuff here. I was familiar with a lot of Star Wars merchandise, as I am a Star Wars nerd, but was intrigued with a lot of the other really unique items I had not seen before. There were a lot of other cool TV/movie chain merchandise in the store to include Marvel, DC Comics, Dr. Who, Star Trek, Harry Potter, etc., etc. There was also lots of sports franchise stuff, Man Cave stuff, Pop Vinyl figures and super cool T-shirts for men and women. I loved some of the band and movie shirts. When I was visiting the store, there was a sale on Women's T's that was buy one, get a 2nd shirt for $10 that was a great deal as some of the shirts were on the pricier side. Yay another novelty store! Hot Topic used to be my 'go to' for these but over the years they have turned away from from the 90s kickbacks and moved to punk rock bands. But have no fear! Those items have no winded up at Box Lunch! I have been once before and was pleasantly surprised with all the merchandise they had. It was so hard not to buy anything as we have no more room in our apartment or closet! Lol. This second time we were on a mission to find a birthday present for my brother-in-law who is a huge fan of Simpsons, Futurama, Zelda, and most other Nintendo games. Fortunately all the things I mentioned we did see at the store last time so we were ready to find something good! I did notice this second time they had a lot of different items. Which was surprising because it had only been a couple months since we last visited. I talked to one of the employees and she said that they do tend to run through their items quickly and move onto new items. I do notice a lot of novelty stores do that so keep this in mind when shopping here. One last note, everyone working at the store is super helpful and welcoming. There were actually more employees than customers, or so it seemed. Woohoo -- nerd alert! BoxLunch is one of the best collectives of novelty items for all your favorite franchises, such as Pokemon, Nintendo, Playstation, Star Wars, Disney princesses, Sailor Moon, and much, much, much more. I came in because I was immediately drawn to an adorable Ewok purse and book bag that was in their window, and promptly bought the Ewok handbag that I am so pleased with. BoxLunch has a lot of deals every now and then, offering a lot of discounts and BOGO (or buy one get two) -- so I left with some shirts, jewelry, and POP Funk figurines too (my fav). The staff is very friendly and help find whatever you need -- even going so far as to rummaging through many shelves of POP Funk for the characters I wanted. My only gripe is that all the sweet shirts for Pokemon, Nintendo, and Star Wars (and others) come in men's clothing and fit poorly for women (or maybe its just me because I'm too tiny for their XS and S sizes. Sad face). I wish the store would carry more female "nerd" shirts rather than ones about drinking and all that --- we ladies love Star Wars and Pokemon too! One of the hardest times of the year, I've been running around trying to buy last minute gifts since amazon messed my orders up, to add more of an issue, I'm coming from out of town. But the nicest people in this location helped me out. They even helped me recover my phone when I unknowingly dropped it. I came looking for a tea pot, even random advice. I think it even came to a point that I was annoying one of them because of the constant questions. Well it was a pleasure, my girlfriend loved the tea pot someone suggested. BoxLunch is a place where fandoms come to find their favorite gadgets and gizmos. My fiancé is a super fan of Harry Potter so she loves checking out the new inventory. We are also huge Disney fans (in case you didn't notice the reference). Honestly, I started thinking the inventory was really repetitive but after today's experience it seemed as though they recently got a TON of new stuff. It almost looked like a brand new store which I thought was really cool! The workers here are nice, but they aren't that helpful in assisting you with new inventory. I asked a few questions but didn't seem to get straight answers. It's located in the Irvine spectrum so there is plenty of parking! With that being said, it can also get very crowded on weekends! Going here during the week is the best as you will notice everything is in stock and the crowd is not there! Overall, this is a fun store to check out especially for gifts ! **This review was based on trying this place more than 10 times. Thought this place was super-cute. Also, it's for a good cause! For every $10 spent by you, someone who needs a meal gets one. I am a nerd at heart. Or, most of the time. Other times, I am a kid at heart, but BoxLunch helps to cater both sides. :) Hubby had heard about this place, so I was super-interested on what they had to offer. Came by, promptly greeted by staff who was super-polite and super-professional. We just wanted to browse, since it was our first-time, and had no issues. I love how they have different sections in the store for different genres: Funko Pop!s in the back right, superheroes towards the front, science items on right wall, television and movie collectibles at back left (i.e., Harry Potter, Dr. Who), mancave necessities at center right, Japan fandom at center right, assorted jewelry and home odds and ends (i.e., candles, soaps, necklaces, bracelets, rings, wood stamps) at center left, clearance at back right wall. They may rotate stock, so it wouldn't behoove you to just check out the entire store. Their promotions are pretty cool, too. First time we were there, it was BOGO 30% off. Bought a bunch of stuff which earned us a coupon of $20 off next purchase of $40 or more. You can use the promotions on the website, but it's just more fun to physically shop the store, IMO. First thing of note: they don't serve food. The things they sell here are merchandise for fandoms. What I have mostly seen here is Bob's Burgers and Harry Potter merchandise. My friend had intent to buy something so I accompanied her in. There was a clearance section in the back. There was one main cash register and they opened a second one up whenever the line got longer. They were nice and the transaction was processed properly. There was a coupon in the Irvine Company booklet to give us a small discount. They have a rewards program. Their physical location is on the side where the Apple store used to be, so there are no PokéStops in their aisle. (It was kind of important for the party member that was waiting outside, since he said it wasn't close enough.) read more

DON'T ORDER ONLINE. I ordered about $100 worth of stuff for my wife's birthday online over a week ago and it was pending out of my account and said it took it. Find out today that I guess it declined and just automatically switched to my wife's card, even though we weren't using an account or anything, make her go negative. Idk how on earth it switched cards or how that was legal. The only way it could've known her card is because she ordered me some stuff 2 weeks earlier, once again not on an account. The employees at BoxLunch are very helpful. The items here are not necessarily priced right - for example I recently purchased a few Hikari pieces for around $70. The next day I found them on their site for 1/2 the price in the clearance area. I will give them a little bit to gain in value but wish I would've shopped the site first. I've just become aware of this store, and I already love it. Customer service is fantastic. The store is very orderly and clean, and it's easy to find what you're looking for. Every $10 you spend goes towards feeding a person in need, which makes buying cool stuff even cooler!. You can also earn "Lunch Money", which is pretty much Hot Cash, if you're familiar with Hot Topic (owned by the same company). If you're not familiar with Hot Topic, it's pretty much a coupon for a certain amount of money off if you spend x amount of money or more, between given dates. It's a really good deal, as they are good for half off the minimum amount required (ex. $25 off a purchase of $50 or more). You earn them when you spend a certain amount, but I'm not sure the exact amount. I would also like to add, this store is very open and bright. It does carry similar merchandise as HotTopic, again same company, but it has a much more appealing atmosphere. It's not dark, and it'd far more open. It's just a better shopping experience. So if you're someone who doesn't like to shop in HotTopic because of its atmosphere, you will probably enjoy BoxLunch. I bought a bunch of clothes the other day, and decided to return 2 shirts and the cashier must've just arbitrarily picked two things on my receipt and returned them because he did not scan the items I returned, and didn't give me back the correct amount. I returned A Jurassic World women's size extra small shirt, and he put on the receipt toddler shorts that I paid for and kept, I am not sure why he didn't just scan the items I returned since they still have the tags on them. I will be calling back tomorrow to speak to a manager. Good thing I checked my receipt they owe me about $30. I will definitely not be going back read more

Despite having a name that completely fools you into thinking this is a restaurant (because it's not), it's a pretty cool place to look around at. I like their wares and it reminds me of an Urban Outfitters/Hot Topic mix of a store. They sell really cool geek apparel and accessories, and they have a wide selection of pop vinyl. They also have this special where if you spend $10, they donate a box to a charity, and I'm all for donations and helping out the needy so that's pretty convenient. read more

Love this store! I am a HUGE Disney nerd & love my FRIENDS & Office merch for sure! Shop here a lot, not only just me but mostly my family too! They have the cutest stuff! It can be on the pricey side sometimes but I always buy their stuff while it on sale so that is a plus! Plus I am a loyalty member so I do get rewards which is helpful! Today I went there looking for a funko-pop for my husband for our anniversary and they didn't have the one we were looking for. I'm not a regular shopper at boxlunch but my friends wanted to go in and I'm glad I went with them! The two associates that were working were very helpful and had excellent customer service! I wish I knew both their names but they both closed on (2/7/20). After I had made my purchase and was waIting on my friend (at this point the store had closed) the girl at the register was very friendly and we had a nice genuine conversation. After my friend had made her purchase the girl let us out and I really appreciated how patient and kind the girl was! As someone who has worked in retail for a while I understand the feeling of customers staying past closing. Me and my friends truly had a good experience and made good purchases thanks to them! Woo! Another novelty store! It is sort of like Hot Topic, but it gives money back to the needy, which is very generous. I love their fandom-based merchandise. I ended up getting a cute Pusheen t-shirt, 2 mini pastels Pusheens, a keychain, and a pin. Boxlunch is now one of my favorite stores at the Spectrum.
