When I got to the cashier, Jaylene asked what I needed help with, and I explained the situation. She told me I could not receive a gift card and that the only option was a return, which would send the money back to the original purchaser. Another employee, who was helping a different customer, stepped in and correctly explained that I was able to receive a gift card since I had the gift receipt. Despite this, Jaylene said no and insisted it wasn't possible. She was very rude throughout the interaction and spoke as if she knew more than everyone else, even though she was incorrect about a basic store policy. She eventually did process the gift card. I want to thank the other employee who actually knew the policy and helped fix the situation. Customer service like this made a simple exchange annoying to go through.

I stopped by American Eagle at Stonewood Mall simply to pick up a keychain I had purchased about a…read moreweek ago. What should have been a quick and easy visit turned into one of the most unprofessional retail experiences I've had. While I was waiting, my mom asked an employee who was folding clothes if the store carried any keychains. According to my mom, the employee responded in a way that came across as visibly annoyed and inconvenienced by such a simple question. My mom was upset enough by the interaction that she decided to let the manager know before leaving the store. What happened next was even more disappointing. Instead of handling the situation discreetly, the manager immediately spoke to the employee about the complaint in a way that was audible throughout the store. My partner and I were standing on opposite ends of the store and could hear both sides of the conversation. Since the employees were communicating over their headsets, it appeared that the entire staff could hear the discussion as well. To make matters worse, another employee chimed in and said, "Oh my God, she's so sensitive." Whether that comment was directed at my mom or made in reference to the situation, it was said within earshot of customers and was incredibly unprofessional. Customers should never have to listen to employees discussing or mocking complaints on the sales floor. A manager's responsibility is to deescalate situations and handle customer concerns with professionalism and discretion. This situation was handled in exactly the opposite way. Rather than making the customer feel heard, it created an uncomfortable atmosphere where staff openly discussed a complaint in front of other shoppers. Retail can be stressful, but basic courtesy and professionalism should still be expected. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and provides better coaching on how customer concerns should be handled moving forward.

My husband and I visited on 8/9 to shop for a suit. An employee asked if we needed help and my…read morehusband told her that he'd like to try them on. Her immediate response was, "For you? Nothing's going to fit you. You're too small." My husband explained that he regularly wears a 3XL. Instead of helping him find something to try, she responded, "Yeah, but it's not going to look good on you." He again told her that he would still like to try something on because he wears a 3X regularly. She then told him he could try a 2X (their smallest size according to her), but repeated that "it's not going to look good on you." At that point, my husband turned around and left. The entire interaction was extremely rude, dismissive, and unnecessary. We came into the store ready to purchase a suit, and instead of receiving assistance, my husband was repeatedly told that nothing would fit him or look good on him before he was even given the opportunity to try anything on. Regardless of whether an employee believes a particular size or style will work, there is a respectful and professional way to assist a customer. Making someone feel unwelcome or uncomfortable about their body or size is not it.!We left without purchasing anything and will gladly take our business somewhere else.

Whereas some TJ Maxx locations tend to be very cluttered, a little funky, and maybe a bit past their prime, this location certainly doesn't put off those type of feelings. Once inside the store, you'll see that the aisles are all very well organized. All the sections are well defined. So, you can find whatever it is you're looking for quit easily. The one thing about this particular TJ Maxx location, to keep in mind, is that they have a lot of furniture. Not all TJ Maxx locations are like that. This one is a strong exception to that rule. They really have a good selection of furniture. So, if you're looking for that living room chair, perhaps an office chair, a small table, some interior lighting, or anything like that, you may be able to find it at this business. Everything was perfect until the lady in the cash register with long black hair and red lipstick by the men's section rudely told all the customers that the line does not for me in front of the cash register. It was said in such an attitude that all the customers reaction were a bit shocked. I realize she could be irritated by the holiday season but it is her job to give customer service without out attitude. She was not at all aproachable. She had a club like attitude such as being a Competition or something. I'm sure we all have bad day's but on the floor, you have to put a smile on!
