What a perfect place to spend an evening after the (almost) hottest June day on record. Part of the new Cargo area on Wapping Wharf, it's the latest in the ever growing craze of 'putting cool shit in stacked up old shipping containers'.
Apparently, it recently made #85 on the 100 best restaurants in the U.K. list 2017, which considering it only opened at the end of 2016 is pretty impressive.
Equally as impressive is the food. High end and high quality dining is this. It has a daily changing menu, today I was treated to charred hispi cabbage smothered in delicious creamy crab meat to start, juicy and succulent guinea fowl with cannellini beans, piquillo peppers and smoked paprika for main and a ridiculously tasty and smooth chocolate mousse with my favourite accompaniment of cherries. All beautifully presented, perfectly cooked and completely delicious.
Drinks choice was good. As it was so hot, I went for a G&T or 3, with the addition of dried beetroot which I'd not seen before - but it worked! The wine list looked pretty comprehensive.
Great service, very friendly and without fault. Apart from the heartless treatment of 2 random olduns who grabbed 2 seats for a sit down, who were mercilessly tossed out haha
Decent view of the harbour and an inspired decision to move tables outside as it was roasting inside when I went to pay!
Overall a great experience and well worthy of its 5*, and appearance on the 100 Best! read more
