Arrived with a party of 5 mid-August 2017 as our hotel was right across the street. The atmosphere is modern with comfy chairs. The service is prompt, polite, professional. Our Waiter had a great sense of humor and worked well with us despite the fact that most of us were a bit intoxicated. My companions raved that the cocktails were some of the best they'd had in their lives.
Our appetizers consisted of mussels, salt and pepper squid, pork bellies and Mediterranean Olives. The mussels were average size and presented in a cream, herbal base that was balanced and made our palates sing. We ordered extra bread to gather every last drop. The squid was the Humboldt type, mildly breaded and served with an herbed mayo they called aioli, not similar to the spicy variety that is served in the US. The squid was cut into strips, was moist, delicious with a perfect balance of breading and calamari. Everyone loved the pork bellies, although I personally have OD'd on pork products since arrival, and if I see anything else made of pork I'm likely to jump in the river that runs next door.
Our main courses were the Flat Iron, a Rib Cut and the Sirloin in addition to a Duck Breast Salad and the Fish and Chips. The sirloin I ordered rare came to me medium-rare by US standards. The beef had a bit of a chew, although had a good balance of fat and ever so slight gristle. I chose a Marrow Wine sauce, the Chestnut Mushrooms and the Mint Roasted Potatoes in addition to Salad Greens in a light herbal dressing. The side portions were tremendous and all too delicious. Everyone raved about their mains and sides.
There's nothing I can complain about other than the slight chew of my cut and that it was not as rare as I would have liked it, but the skill of our Chef and his finesse w seasoning and presentation more than compensated. The restaurant was noisy, but so were we. I think I would come back to Graze in a heat beat.
If you choose to come to Graze Bar, you might order your cut a step rarer than you would otherwise. Do not leave with out trying the mussels, and have them bring you some extra bread to help reach the bottom of the bowel, read more
