I love writing positive reviews but some are a true treat to write. This is one of those reviews. We hired Bowtie Catering for our wedding at the High Desert Museum. We ended up using them for a picnic the day before and a brunch the day after. Though we mostly worked with Lindsay and Sanda, who are the best, everyone we came in contact with whether at their office or at the events, ,was so lovely. My love and I decided to get married during what will go down as the busiest wedding season of the century - the middle of July 2021 in Sunriver Oregon. We live in the Bay Area of California and would be planning from afar. We began our planning with Sanda in April, with one shot in and a hope for a fully vaccinated wedding (which we got!), on the deck of my parents home where we would marry only a few months later. We hit if off right away, she was personable, knowledgeable and most of all - passionate about her business. We came back in May for a tasting on the same deck - items off the menu, all fresh and in season - it was yummy and presented lovely. When we returned in July for the wedding, the season of weddings was in high gear - but we never once felt it from Sanda. She was very communicative, and helpful in securing all the items we needed to make our day a dream come true. Everything was perfect. From the minute the guests arrive - the bar was beautiful, the 'grazing table' was over the top, dinning tables were lovely and the food was scrumptious. Most importantly - the service was second to none. I heard from many guests how amazing the staff was, helpful, professional and incredibly nice! All along I felt like we were her one and only wedding! (Found out after the wedding that her team was covering 4 other weddings that day!) I would recommend Bowtie for any wedding, family gathering, or simply an excuse to have a fun dinner for a group of friends. read more

I'm trying desperately to leave a good review here but after this Mother's Day experience ... I just can't. 1. The sign up for the brunch did not say that drinks were not included in the costs but they weren't which would have been a big deal if: the next things didn't happen: 2. They ran out of food. At a buffet yes they ran out of food. My mother in law on Mother's Day who paid for the brunch ... had the photo included below for a "buffet brunch" that was supposed to include Benedict NOT an omelet station 3. There was ZERO heat on a day that rained, snowed and hailed while we were there! It was no kidding barely 30° in the overly cramped tents they had us sitting in. It was SO cold you could see your breath while you ate it did not state this in the email in fact the email stated: we know the weather will not be great but not to worry we've got tents covered and walled with heaters to make it "nice and cozy". The little food scraps that were left were cold by the time you sat down at the table! I literally got a coffee from the drink bar just to keep my hands warm! That is NOT ok. 4. No one walked us to our table no one took a drink order from us and I couldn't even get a glass of water. 5. When I told her that we didn't even eat and the food ran out and we paid for a buffet she said she would bring a plate of food to us but we sat there for 15 minutes with no food until we finally just left because it was SO cold 6. The serving staff including the bartender did not even know what was on their drink menu and the mimosas were completely flat. We were the second seating event (and there was supposed to be a third!). How did you go a whole seating prior to us and NOT know what the drink menu was?!?! On several occasions I've heard the staff asking each other "um is this what we are supposed to do" or "is anyone in charge of that" ... that tells me that there was zero management happening. 7. They had the omelet station with one guy and two pans in the SAME buffet line as the rest of the food holding up the line for everyone that didn't want omelets. I've never seen this at any Easter or Mother's Day brunch we've ever done. It's always separated to allow for lines. 8. By the end even the photographer was bussing tables because the event was going so badly that people didn't want a photo of the terrible experience 9. The line for the buffet was no joke 45 minutes and that's AFTER we were already standing in line so it was definitely longer than that. Imagine standing in line for 45 minutes to get to the buffet tables and return with the plate below. And so we are all clear: the brunch was supposed to feature a salmon dish and Benedict's. 10. The least that someone should have done was start pouring free glasses of champagne for each of the tables to keep people happy but nope people still needed to GET up go to the bar order and pay for a drink! When the manager said there were waiters coming around with free pitchers of mimosas I sat down and ZERO mimosas (flat or not) came around ever. This was literally the WORST Mother's Day experience and everyone should get a 50% refund or should've walked out of there with a free bottle of wine if the businesses caterer included wanted to save their name but no one cared that the experience that mothers and grandmothers received was the worst experience. Walking out one grandma was waiting for her ride and someone walked out and said "we'll it was an experience" and she literally responded and said "ya a shitty one" and I could not disagree more. Not one person walked out of there with even a decent experience. I feel sorry for the Moms including myself. read more

Found Bowtie online, by chance. They were a pleasure to work with. They listened to my wants and needs...and provided a menu that met them on the first shot. Priced reasonably. Sanda and Gene catered our private dinner last month (July 2020). In the midst of Covid-19 we were able to celebrate our 50th Anniversary for a private family party catered by Bowtie Catering. Sanda brought tables and linen to make it so special. We had a signature cocktail that was amazing. Our meal was perfection. We are so happy to recommend Bowtie catering and if we ever need any catering in the Bend area we will definitely call on them again. read more

There weren't many options for catering our wedding in Bend, especially caterers that offered vegan/vegetarian mains, so we went with Bowtie. They had a decent selection of mains/side dishes but we weren't given the option to taste beforehand due to the wedding only being 35 people - even after offering to pay for it. On the day of, the food and everything got setup nicely while the ceremony was taking place so our intervention/assistance was not needed, which was nice. The food itself was okay. We had increased our order size from 35 to 40 people a couple weeks before the wedding to be safe but we ended up basically running out of food as the last couple of folks got to it (33 people). So not sure what happened there. Maybe their portions are small? The polenta and orzo dishes were good but the side veggies were pretty bland and a little on the undercooked side. I really wish we could have tasted the food beforehand but we sort of just had to deal with it due to there not really being any other options for catering. read more

Highly recommend! Great communication leading up to the event. We had a unique situation with a small, socially distanced wedding and they were super accommodating and flexible. My personal faves are the BBQ beef, hot pastrami, and the turkey dip (not on the menu but delicious - basically a modified beef dip) Their clam chowder and tortilla soup are extra tasty. Bowtie should focus on smaller events. We had them cater a rehearsal dinner and large wedding reception. The rehearsal dinner was for approx 40 people and turned out great. The food was dropped off hot and was delicious. The wedding reception was the next day with just under 300 people and served family style. The dinner was 45 min late being served, portions were hardly enough for the number of people at the table and the food was cold. When we followed up with to Sanda after the event she blamed the issues on the venue where the wedding was located. Bowtie brought the food and servers so the issue was not caused by venue. read more

Hired Bow Tie to provide catering for my daughters wedding in September, 2021.  Communication was difficult from the start (was even told by owner that communicating with me was not part of her job) - and when they did not provide a contracted menu item for the wedding, it went down hill fast.  When I tried to communicate about the error, owner was rude and belligerent.  I was never offered an apology for the error.  Too many other issues to detail - there are other caterers in Bend.  If you value customer service and communication, I would suggest you go elsewhere. read more

Bowtie catering was wonderful to work with. My husband and I hired them for our small, family-only Covid wedding in July of 2020. They were easy to work with, created a custom menu, affordable, and very efficient. I was able to work with Sanda directly to create my wedding brunch menu! It was a ton of food (they boxed up leftovers for us!!) and it was DELICIOUS. My family still talks about how hot and yummy it was. They also helped to set up our donut wall. Five stars ACROSS THE BOARD. We used Bowtie for a post-wedding-ceremony party (60 people) and everything about the experience was excellent, from contact to arrangements, from their arrival and set-up, to the post-event pickup. Prices were VERY fair for a lot of excellent food. We went with heavy appetizers--bistro sliders, seared ahi, Turkish meatballs, chicken skewers, fruit and cheese plates, etc--and everything was flavorful and good. Use this company! read more

My husband and I used bowtie catering for our wedding reception and I would give them 5 stars all the way around. From my first meeting with Sanda, when I was deciding which local catering company to use, she was professional, organized and genuinely interested in making it everything we wanted it to be. She gave great feed back and was always available when I had a question. I honestly felt I could sit back and just enjoy my day because I was so confident in her ability. Very unprofessional and unsympathetic towards their clients. Bride and Groom both lost their income to COVID-19 and were forced to cancel their wedding plans. Bowtie catering would not refund any of the deposit money, even as a show a compassion and "sharing of the pain". None of the deposit money was used to purchase any food given the long notice they were given, Bowtie just kept all the money. They are no longer returning any emails ... very unprofessional. Fantastic sandwiches - had the chicken shawarma sandwich with tomato garlic soup - they toasted the light and delicious pita bread to order. The sauce was a creamy delight. Soup was slightly spicy, thick and filling. Really fabulous, great draft beer, extremely friendly and welcoming owners. Small eating area with tall tables and one short table. Located in a strip mall but the ambiance takes you to a happy place like a Calgon bath (did I just date myself)? Enjoy! read more

Had Bowtie cater dinner for a rehearsal dinner. Leading up to it the communication was not as quick as I expected but when we did communicate we got everything done. Sanda was fantastic and got everything accomplished, altered and planned. I was 100% comfortable leading into the event. Even during the uncertainty of Covid. Event night they arrived early...took over the house and set everything up. Chef was prepared and ready to go. Presentation of food was excellent. The little things matter and they went the extra mile to make appearance and presentation important. Food tasted amazing...very impressed with quality and price point. We had tri-tip and salmon, twice backed potatoes and a unique and new dish to us gnudi. The salads and cachutery boards were fantastic. Professional, exceptional service, quality and value was fantastic. I would recommend them to anyone and use them again for a future event. They can do anything so think outside the box, you won't be disappointed. read more

I will second Kasey's review about the badly failed Mothers Day event they catered, and I bet there are 50-100 other people that will to. We also were in the second seating which was supposed to start at 1pm. Half or more of the people in the first seating were still there eating and drinking at 12:45pm so we all had to stand out in the cold snow and rain and wait. About 1:30 the line started to finally move. When we got inside the place was a disaster. People were still there from the 11am seating. No tables had been cleaned and prepared. In the food tent the ham was gone and was never replaced. There was basically nothing to eat except for the on request omelette and some salad. There was a part bowl of shrimp that people were just sticking there hand into and grabbing a handful. I wish I had taken pictures, the place was a dirty mess. Around 2pm some mostly half cooked bacon appeared, and a tub of ice cream. I am betting that if a county inspector had showed up they would have been shut down. The winery staff was doing what they could but the problems were all involving the caterer. read more

Bowtie is the BEST catering in Bend in our humble opinion. We had an employee gathering pre Christmas this year (2019) for 42 people at our house and the food was off the charts, every employee made the comment and personally told us it was the most delicious catered food they had ever had! They delivered the food 20 minutes before the event with chafing dishes and nice bowls for serving cold food. The presentation was amazing and the unique flavor of the some food items was savory; BBQ Shrimp with bacon, Buffalo Balls and the veggies were done to perfection. Sanda was terrific help with suggestions on food items and pairing with other foods. This company is 5 star plus, we will definitely use them any time we need caterers! read more

I bought four dinners and desserts to go for Thanksgiving. Everything was delicious except they forgot to cook the vegetables. The carrots and Brussels sprouts were raw. I left them an email informing them of the problem, but they have not gotten back to me. Disappointing. read more

The day of the event they were so wonderful, nice, non intrusive and accommodating and they really went above and beyond and the food they prepared was so delicious! Been there twice for lunch. The pork tacos were very tasty. I got a blue cheese burger and soup the second time. The bun on the burger had a 1/4" ring on the outside that was burned and the meat was over cooked and dry. I considered sending it back but I was starving. The patties were 1/4 lb each x2. I don't think they were "homemade". They looked like pre made patties. I also had chicken vegetable soup that was very good. Had they not messed up the burger I would have given an extra star. Their prices seem a little steep on some items. My husband had a salad with chicken salad and soup. We both drank water. $28. Very good service.. Just cook the burger right and no complaints.
