Thought the food was a bit bland considering the cost.. Not likely to visit again.

Service was slow and not particularly friendly. Food was mediocre. Beef and broccoli tasted fishy for some reason.

Best Thai I have ever had! And I've had quite a bit of Toronto. The red curry and the singapore noodles are great. Thanks.

P4 Pad Gra Prow - The best dish! We chose mild spicy, which wasn't spicy at all. P5 Khao Soi - Golden noodles, very delicious, the coconut milk flavor permeated the noodles, and the meat was quite tender. P6 Pad See Ew - It tasted like wide rice noodles, delicious! We chose beef and extra shrimp. P7 Coconut Sorbet - Coconut milk ice cream, not bad, a little too sweet, and had a little bit of coconut meat. Mango Sticky Rice - The mango sticky rice was average, nothing particularly delicious. P8 Thai Iced Tea - A little sweet and a little too sweet. Fresh Coconut Water - Very refreshing and fresh coconut water. Compared to other Thai restaurants in Toronto, this one was the best!

For the main course, the beef pad see ew arrived piping hot; although it was a little on the saltier side, the flavor was amazing, and I loved the chili oil on the side. The highlight of the meal was the mango sticky rice. They nailed the mango-to-rice ratio, which is something many places that have this dessert struggle with. Service was super attentive and friendly throughout the evening.

We tried the following Dishes: Bombay Chicken, Hot Sour Soup, Zen Special Chicken, Chicken Fried Rice with Chicken on Top, Manchurian Fish, Hot Garlic Shrimp, Papaya Salad, Thai Green Curry Chicken, Steamed Chicken Momo, Crispy Ginger Beef I normally wouldn't choose to order soup, as I like to fill up on the heartier dishes but I was absolutely blown away by their Hot and Sour Soup. It's not overly sour and to me it was the perfect flavor profile. It was thick and loaded with tofu and chicken. The Bombay Chicken and Zen Special Chicken were both flavorful and unique chicken dishes. The crispy ginger beef was cooked to perfection; i'd definitely order it again. If you're looking for something tasty to drink their mango Lassi is superb. It's sweet and creamy. I loved it! The Thai Milk Tea was also a knock out. It was sooo good!!!

They also have a very nice dining room if you want to eat in. You may notice that The Big Zen seems very, very similar to The Zen, also in Whitby. The owners say there is no affiliation between the two, but it is obvious it is the same place, with the exact same menu and great quality food, just different owners. Highly recommended.

She had mentioned that she was looking to…read moremove to Ajax and I'd held out hope because it wouldn't be as far to go for her amazing Mussaman Curry. During Covid I noticed that she was no longer open so I assumed she'd fallen victim to the times we were in. Then one day, Yelp decided to send me a notification asking if I was looking for good Thai in my area. I figured I scroll through their suggestions and to my surprise and delight, up popped Malinee's! I wasted no time and hurried in to order her Mussaman Curry. It was as amazing as I remembered it. My husband went with the Chicken with Cashews. Both were delicious and I left with a happy belly. I was so happy that I could even look over some of the cleanliness issues I noticed. It was only a few weeks later when I went again. I went with the Mussaman Curry again but this time, my husband opted for the Beef Pa-Neng Curry. I was somewhat confused by what we were presented with. My Mussaman curry was watery and not as flavourful as it normally is. I'm used to this dish being thick, creamy and hearty but this was lack-lustre. I think the most disappointing thing was that the vegetables in both dishes appeared to have freezer burn and were just store-bought bagged frozen mixed vegetables. Most of the beans were completely inedible. It was very disappointing. Between the inconsistency in food quality and the lack of cleanliness gives me pause. It's such a shame because her Mussaman curry is normally on point but I'm not sure if I'll be back.

The pad Thai was super super yummy Probably one of the best I have tried in a long time The skewers were nice with the peanut sauce and the dumplings had chicken in them and came with a nice sweet Thai sauce The owner/cook was so friendly and super nice Price was super reasonable and portions were good I used to get my Thai food in Scarborough but now that I have found this gem of a Thai restaurant in Durham, I will certainly be going back for more
