After being stood-up by another handyman, James and his crew came out on a snowy night and worked overtime to efficiently correct both problems. As a young woman, I have had many negative experiences with other sexist contractors who assume that I lack enough knowledge in their field (electrical, plumbing, etc.) or that I have no common sense, and so they try to scam me or get away with poor quality work. It has been the opposite with Fernando. He takes the time to patiently and kindly answer every single one of my many questions, and explains things to me as many times as I need him to, always treating me like an equal. I have an old house, built in 1921, and in the decades before I owned it, it went through renovations that were not done well. This has meant that now every serious project in the house must be done carefully to ensure that it remains structurally sound and safe both in the short and long term. My plumbing problem was that the sewage pipe is galvanized and had deteriorated. It was the original pipe of my 1949 row home, and the main problem with the pipe extended into the recreation room of the basement. They were going to have to dig. My anxiety went through the roof; however, Mr Nelson diffused my fears and worked with me. He and his team explained the entire procedure, broke it down where I clearly understood, and also provided me a status with pictures. This company is very meticulous about their work, and they clean up and haul away excess debris and mud. I am very happy, and the sewage pipe and drain now work perfectly. Nelson will definitely be my plumbing first choice, and I highly recommend them.

Tom did not do good work, and did not attempt to correct his mistake or make it right in any way…read more He is now ignoring my calls and texts. I would never hire him again. We hired Tom to look into an issue with our shower not getting hot, and he came out to replace a cartridge in one of the showers, which did not solve the issue. He came back another day thinking that replacing the entire valve in another unit would solve the issue, but still no results. He did not come with the proper equipment to measure the water heater's condition either time. He suggested running a direct pipe from the water heater to the shower, but my gut told me something was off and that this would be a costly mistake. I then hired another plumber who came and found that replacing the cartridge in the first bathroom (the one Tom had supposedly replaced) solved the issue. The new plumber also located a leak in a connection Tom had made when replacing the valve assembly. After telling Tom all this, and asking if he could correct his mistake, he stopped responding to text messages and calls. I feel cheated and lied to. Tom did not properly diagnose or fix the problem, and I now need to hire another plumber to fix the work he already billed me nearly $1000 for. He didn't even have the decency to apologize for the mistakes. I hope my review can save somebody a possible headache. See attached for the quality of work you can expect for $934
