We had our septic system serviced by them, we contacted Bowen's one day prior to them coming today. They came out this morning and cleaned our filter and did a clean out of the overflow pipe that connects to the solid waste tank and checked the other tank to make sure everything was functioning. It was $618, other places had quoted $1000, so it was a relief that they found the issue and it was a simple fix, as well as didn't take too much time. read more

Terrible work and my neighbor watched them do nothing but open the tank with their equipment and then sit in their truck for a long period of time. They didn't pump anything. It's amazing how a system can be deemed a total loss without even pumping. We needed an inspection of our septic in order to sell the house for a job relocation. To our dismay, the builder put the septic right in the middle of the front yard where we've meticulously kept up the grass and appearance which isn't cheap! This company was prompt, didn't disturb me while working from home, and did no damage to our yard. You can barely tell anything was done from the road. The only positive is they were able to quickly confirm an appointment for within two days of request. As soon as they got there and got to where the tank was they doubled the price because they had to use shovels instead of the backhoe to dig to the tank. Total time on site was less than 2 hours for almost $900 for a pump and inspect! And then they tried to take advantage of me by not signing a clearance letter and saying I had to do a repair that was almost $4000!! I contacted a few other septic companies, shared the inspection with pictures, I picked one to come out and said the pipe is actually right if they looked closer, cleaned it up, did a minor repair to the pipe and did the clearance. BEWARE! This company destroyed our driveway and is refusing to fix it. The weight of the truck cracked 3 slabs of concrete in our 3-year old driveway. We told them we weren't comfortable with them putting the truck in our driveway, but the service tech insisted, stating "he does this all the time and has never had an issue". He also proclaimed "the company has $1,000,000 insurance and would fix anything they broke". After assuring us and trusting that he knew what he was doing I signed the Ipad wavier. We've used three other septic companies over the past few years. They all told us we needed to spend close to $25k to fix our septic system. I built my house in 2007. It was 10 years before it backed up in 2017. I looked through my files & found Bowen Septic installed my septic and field lines. I thought to myself, Hell after 10 years & no issues let's call these guys again. The short scope of that day was i waited 10yrs lol bad move. Regardless the only add-on was they suggested manhole covers to prevent digging the next service. The next service: brings us to Jan 2022. I called and spoke with Ginger who is absolutely the sweetest person you ever wanna speak with. Honestly when I called I was frustrated with but by the time I hung up the phone I was happy she was the one I spoke with. Sometimes your not face of the company but you are the voice. (Great Job! At first they came out when they said and explained thoroughly what they were doing but then said they would be back next day at 8 am and didn't show up for days, with no contact. They had to knock down the fence with their tractor and they put it back up so gate somewhat shuts but won't latch. They did not blow the driveway as promised. I called Bowen's to pump my tank, which they completed promptly. I had several people at their company tell me the price would be 395 for a 1,000 gallon tank, which is the size that I have. They took out more than 1000 gallons due to overage, however, so I was charged 495. My first issue is that I wish they would have told me that I would be charged based off of the amount they pumped, not the size of the tank. I'm thankful that I had the extra $100 to pay them, but I wasn't excited to be unexpectedly charged more than I was quoted. My second issue is that they uncovered a substantial malfunction with my system, and told me I would need to abandon the tank and connect to sewer. I was told it was an urgent need, and that my tank would continue to quickly fill and back up into my house until it was resolved. That was 11 days ago. Since that time, I've been calling Bowen's and literally begging for a quote and to schedule a time for the follow-up service. I've talked to numerous people at Bowen's since the original service date, and while everyone seems to agree that I have an urgent need, I still have yet to receive a quote and/or schedule service. Thankfully, I've been able to coordinate with several other septic tank repair companies and have obtained the quotes I needed. All of them indicated a repair was feasible (and routine), and I have scheduled the repair. It's notable that I heard a ballpark figure of $23,000 over the phone from Bowen's, and currently have a competitor of theirs quoted to come out and make the repair for $2,500--with a two-year warranty. read more

BEWARE! Get ALL pricing up front. I was quoted $375 for septic tank service. I described the problem to the person who took my call and was told the price. When the technician arrived, i was told BEFORE they even dug the holes in my yard that I probably needed my main line flushed and my filter cleaned or replaced. Grand Total? $1,000!!! BEFORE THEY EVEN DUG! Guess what? When they dug the holes, "yeah, you really need to have that done." I had already received quotes from two other companies to do all the same work for $500! When I told them I was not going to pay double the price of their competition, they told me I had to pay a $275 service call fee before they would leave. Those are the facts folks. I have used Bowen Septic Tank since 2013 and have always been pleased with their work. They respond quickly (especially to emergencies) and finish the work quickly. I just had my 1,000 gallon tank pumped and the filter changed in a little over an hour. They have always given me options for maintaining my tank (in 2013 I added a filter system at their suggestion) and I've never felt pressured or persuaded into buying something I don't need. We decided to use them to pump our septic tank. They hit the water pipe and said we were responsible for the damages and had to get a plumber out ourselves. When the plumber came, he asked "they didn't offer to fix this for you? It's an easy fix and they're the ones who damaged it". Furthermore, my name was on the order request, they had my phone number and had called me several times to arrange for my dad to be home to let them on the property. They had every opportunity to discuss the "consent" with me and make me aware of the risks of digging but rather then calling me, they made my dad who could barely read English sign the form. We felt lied to. We paid $350 for a broken pipe and an incomplete job. Will never use them again. Andrew the "manager" was not helpful and obviously bias bc he was aware of what happened before I even called to complain. Lastly, my dad watched them as they dug. He saw the blue pipe line himself. If my dad saw it, the technician should've seen it. But instead of stopping he continued to dig and that's when the pipe broke. read more

Bowen came out to pump our septic tank out 3 months ago, granted that we had never pumped it out and had a good bit of rain. However, there were trenches where the field lines were from the tank and through out the backyard. The Bowen technician told us that the field lines were saturated, pumped the tank and replaced the filter. Exactly 3 months later, the septic tank backed up again (with only 2 people living in the house). I tried calling Bowen back and talked to the receptionist. She looked at the receipt from December and said that our field lines were saturated. I asked if I could talk with someone or schedule someone to come out to look at it. She indicated that she would have to talk with her operations manager and the technician would call me back about the field lines. I didn't hear from either of them so I called another company. They came out today and IMMEDIATELY noticed the trenches where the field lines were. They dug up some of the areas and found that some of field lines had collapsed and the end of the field lines had no water getting to it. So...it wasn't because the field lines were saturated. My 1st complaint with Bowen Septic is that the technician completely missed the signs and just assumed it was because it had not been pumped out and that rain had saturated the field lines. My 2nd complaint with Bowen Septic relates directly with customer service. It is going on 33 hours and I have yet to hear back from them. I would think twice about hiring this company to do ANY work! read more

If it was possible to give a zero star rating, I would. Bowen did the septic inspection when I bought my house so I called them for a pump out. When the two techs opened the tank they said it and the drain field were in bad shape. One tech mentioned that it was a good thing they didn't start the pumping immediately because if they had sewage would have back up into my house due to a clog. Within 30 minutes I noticed sewage in my master bath and bedroom carpet. The techs said it must have happened because I ran water while they were pumping. I called a family friend who runs a reclamation business and he said the carpet would have to be replaced due to EPA regs and that he had seen this before when pressure to dislodge a clog was aimed into the home. He said I should have been warned this could happen. I was given the choice of a 3-5K repair or a new system for much more. Bowen told me during the original inspection that there was an issue with the tank but that it was not urgent. I spoke to the owner Frank and his solution to the sewage back up was to do the repairs and upsell me - "give me" a Polylock riser for free to compensate me for having to get new carpeting. They only installed a Polylock LID and used a construction pipe rather than the Polylock riser system. Polylock emphasized that the riser needed to be bolted to the tank which they did not do. I ask that someone come out in a couple of months to check to make sure the riser was still in place and that the tank was working properly. After months of trying to get this scheduled the owner Frank shows up with less than 30 minutes notice today. I reminded his assistant that he would need to wear a mask because of our covid risk, as the technicians had so that he could show my husband and I that everything was in order. When he arrives, he promptly tells me he is not going to wear a mask because he is coughing and he can't breathe in a mask. I asked him to send someone else and he replied "Honey, its only going to take me a second". He took a paper mask that I provided but most of the time it was on his chin. He opened the riser, threw in some chemicals, said it was one of the best jobs he had seen and started to close the tank. I told him we wanted to see that the riser was in place etc but he was not wearing a mask so I could not come close. His reply was -" this is America; I should not have to wear a mask. I wish I had never taken on this project because of all this". I agree with him on the second part. So, if you want a septic company that is disrespectful, only interested in making money dishonest and uncaring... Bowen is the right one for you. PS, if you don't live in Conyers they will charge you a trip fee which they don't tell you about in advance. read more

These guys saved us! I had called another company and they REALLY jerked us around-didn't make 3 different times on the day of our appt. So I got up the next day and called Bowen's. They scheduled us next day and were here on time and ready to go! Turned out to be a little more than a standard pump-had to clear lines, but I did expect that. I had them come out to service our septic system. I had been under the impression that every 5-10 years would be acceptable, but with our system being 27 years old, every 3 years would be better. I'm so glad I called them. The system cleaning was going to be about $350. But what they discovered would have cost me all new plumbing had I waited another 2-5 years. Our concrete baffle had eroded away and our field lines were clogged. They did fix everything and give me specifics on how to keep it happening again. They whole job cost about $2400. On 10/2/18, I decided to call & use their service to assist with septic issues. My son referred them to me because he went to school with one of their family members. They assured me once they repaired & replaced my end pipe connected to field line,my problem would be solved 1600.00 with 2yr warranty on field line/parts. Approx. 6 weeks later I began to have more problems, Now they say it's due to a broken main pipe, backing up in kitchen sink/sewage flowing on to of ground outside near the loc. where they were digging. They are not taking responsibility for my current situation. They are expressing plenty of attitude and want to charge me an add'l 1300.00 which I do not have. I've shown them video of location work performed & pipe could have been damaged then. They have returned to my home several times trying to justify and cover-up. Guys, I called Bowen's Septic to pump out my tank. I don't know if it had been done before we bought the house, so we decided to get it taken care of. When the found the tank, David and Chad showed me that there was a problem.... a scary problem. They told me they could fix it right away. They were so friendly and were able to keep me calm as they resolved this issue. Real deal guys and I don't regret a thing. Was it more costly than I had hoped? yes. Would I call them again? Yes. And I will be calling them in three years to have it maintained. I am not usually the type to just go with the first answer I get from a company. I usually get two or three quotes. Called Bowens for Septic servicing and repair at the suggestion of my plumber on Friday. (I had called the plumber because my washing machine drain was back-flowing into my laundry room and the plumber diagnosed it as a septic issue.) They offered to be out first thing Saturday morning but I declined due to a weekend trip I was taking. I was initially very impressed at their willingness to be right out on a weekend. They arrived promptly on Monday morning and after inspection it was determined the septic tank and field lines needed repair. Joshua and John did a fantastic job completing the work quickly and efficiently. I was concerned about the hardscaping I had just paid to have done last year and they even managed to dig up the yard and replace all of my stone hardscaping with very little disruption. Joshua uses that little machine like it is an extension of his hands.. true craftsmanship! After repairing the inlet to the tank and the field lines they also installed a rise and filter to make my system a bit more trouble free in the future. Canceled before they arrived due to terrible customer service from their office, who tried to tell me I had a larger tank than I did to overcharge me. When I produced paperwork to prove them wrong they lowered their price to about $100 MORE than a competitor. They refused to budge and why would I pay $100+ more??? so I cancelled. Their office never bothered to tell their crew, who showed up at my house. When I tried to politely and apologetically ask them to call their office because the job was cancelled, they proceeded to stand in my driveway and lecture me on how poorly I do business, complain how far they had to drive, and expected me to allow them to do the job anyway, scoffing at the $100 price difference. It eventually escalated to a shouting match before they FINALLY left my property. All I asked is they price match. They refused. I cancelled. Their guys still came and lectured me. Never been treated this way by any company in all my years. Just amazing any company can operate this way and employ people of this caliber and still be in business. We would get our septic tank punk pretty much every year...even though it didn't really need it. But then we started experiencing some backing up issues and found Bowens. They came out to drain, and as with most companies, sold us an UP SELL. So we had them install the additional features to make our septic tank better (and one of their guys came out and completed some side work). We spoke with their office and they were very nice and pleasant. We had to use them again and they sent the worst individual ever, obnoxious and rude. So before even looking at the issue, he quotes, 3400 to 4000 dollars worth of work. When I asked him questions, he defensively began to tell me he was "born in this business"... I tried to calm him down by saying, listen this is foreign to me, but then when my husband came to speak to him, who btw, can gently speak to any idiot, my husband was even turned off by this guy "josh". Andrew was very nice on the phone and we may have even considered the work by being done by bowens, but because josh was so obnoxious, we will take his suggestion for a second quote... too bad one bad family member can spoiled the whole bunch. Our friends have use and inquired of this work, we will not recommend Bowens. Then 'josh' tried to validate his "experience by quoting that if we looked at our water bill, we would see that we use 3000 + consumption in water. I took a look at our bill, he was wrong. I was so disappointed that the company we thought we had found to take care of everything, had this obnoxious guy come out.
