A few days later, my 21-year-old son suggested some Puppy Therapy. We headed to the Chandler Mall and found this beautiful little girl staring at us through the window. AAWL allows snuggle time with the animals if they aren't too busy, for a $10 donation. I gladly paid the money! I explained that we had a very tough week and could use some pure joy. We were hooked up with a precious 3-month-old Chihuahua named Tinkerbell. She had been staring at us through the window and the look in her eyes matched mine. I can say without a doubt, pure bliss with a puppy, puppy kisses, and puppy breath, are the best thing in the whole world when your heart is hurting. My son and I belly laughed, we giggled, we smiled. We had 30 minutes of uninterrupted bliss; we were able to leave the events of the previous few days behind us in those moments. I appreciate all of the staff so much for their understanding and compassion that day. I was so grateful that I was near tears when we left. Thank you for having this snuggle option, it really, truly does make a difference. It helped my son and I tremendously as we start to move forward with our new normal.

They are turning away health cats and dogs (after scheduling their intake) for reasons that don't exist but for financial reasons, when they are in the business of helping homeless animals. I have sat in the lobby and watched how rude the girls have become with volunteers and the people dropping off pets. I used to marvel at their compassion for pets in their care, now I shudder. Stop donating to AAWL. They are paying their staff, and turning away healthy animals (I have seen it) so they can avoid paying for them. Two thumbs down. Please, no more donations to AAWL. They need to drain this SWAMP and get some ethical, decent leaders on staff.

I went through the new customer application process and I was impressed with the level of detail they wanted with concerns to the pet and his surrounds. It could be a bit overwhelming letting a pet sitter you don't know come to your home but after all said it done. I would totally do it again. I did the 3 visits per day since my pup was caged. They are friendly, professional, contracted. My sitter, Beth was awesome. She came over to met my pup the day before I left to get acquainted, take down any notes I had which included meal times, what time to come over. She took good care of my pup! Will def use again.

We adopted a wild beast named Willow from this organization...being told it was a shy cat…read more We fear the cat may have been drugged to be more adoptable as we have never seen any animal act as this one did, and we are in our mid-60s! The beast hid under a day bed for a week. It ate, drank & used the catbox, but we never saw it. Then there was a large pile of feces in our Dining Room which caused our decision to return it. My husband moved some boxes stored under the day bed to retrieve Willow while talking baby talk to her. She brutally attacked both of his hands causing deep puncture wounds and tremendous bleeding. We closed the door to the room so she couldn't go hide anywhere else. She literally flew thru the room!!! I mean LITERALLY FLEW THRU THE ROOM!!! She knocked pictures off the wall & broke stuff! She bit him so hard and so deep in BOTH hands that he was screaming! As he was profusely bleeding, he managed to grab her and get her into the bathtub....where she flew around inside (doors closed) smearing the glass doors!! My husband is a Musician & his hands are necessary for him to work and support us. We went to Urgent Care who made us go to the E.R. X-rays were taken showing no teeth bits or broken bones, but there was still a huge possibility of tendon damage & an infection. We were referred to a Hand Surgeon, but we had to wait over a weekend to see him & worry ourselves sick that a 50-year career was over as he was totally helpless & could do nothing for himself with either hand! We had to thoroughly wash his painful hands twice a day & change the bandages. He could not sleep due to the serious pain & lost 10 pounds in 3 days, not only from the pain, but from the sheer fear of losing his career! When we saw the Hand Surgeon on Monday, he said the next few days were critical & referred him to Hand Therapy which started Tuesday. My husband also had a very hard time with the serious antibiotics & pain meds causing him to suffer greatly. Thank God we have insurance as these people never so much as apologized nor called to check on my husband. They did retrieve the beast the following day. It had to be quarantined as we were required to file a Bite Report with Maricopa County Animal Control. We also filed a Complaint with PetCo, but have not heard back from them. We are out money even though we have insurance. No one from Save the Cats Arizona nor PetCo has stepped up to the plate & offered to help with our expenses nor anything for my husband's tremendous suffering & pain. Real quality organizations, eh? Like we said... BEWARE!!! This was our first time in a PetCo as we do all our shopping at PetSmart which we will continue to do. We will never set foot in a PetCo again. Once was too much! As of today, if Save the Cats Arizona decides not to put the beast down, you could unwittingly take it into your home! We would NEVER adopt from this organization again nor allow anyone we care about to do so either. These sure appear to be the worst nightmare to be handling adoptions of cats to unsuspecting hopefuls. If we could give negative stars, we surely would!!!!

He is very old with lots of health conditions, and we couldn't figure out how we could help him with all of his mats. We had hoped our vet might be able to do a shave while having his teeth cleaned, but found that he has a heart murmur, so we were unable to put him under. And then we found Marie in a google search. She took her time, sang to him, gave him a treat, and he no longer has mats. He looks great! She also provided many resources for us to help maintain his coat including various types of combs.
