What can I say about the establishment from the minute I walked in the door it was customer friendly . Visiting from out of town recommended by many of my friends from NYC as soon as I walked in the smell of different ingredients and the smoked bourbon Chicken took me to a different place. I ordered the combination plate with two sides $17.36 . When I received my order it was heavy... very heavy...you need a fork lift to lift the plate. Look at the photo. The place gives you the feeling of neighborhood restaurant for the people and the community. I love a place like that. The door never stays closed. A constant traffic customers ordering either for Dine in or take outs . If you're in the neighborhood visit the property I guarantee you y'all won't be disappointed. My combination plate was amazing. I went in and ordered for myself and my mother. You get a lot of food. However, food was bland. Absolutely no taste. The chicken was not tender. There must be zero seasonings in the place. You can see the cook in the back cooking, he had gloves on but the gloves were most likely on his hands all day, never changing them. Gloves were filthy but didn't seem to bother him and didn't seem like he was gonna be changing them anytime soon. The place is FILTHY. The trash was filled to the brim and each time the cook threw something in the trash, he's the type of person who has to touch the trash when putting trash in the trashcan and then he'd go back cooking and handling the food on the grill with the same dirty gloves. I have been wanting to try bourbon grill forever, but couldn't ever bring myself to stand in that ridiculously long line on a sketchy part of the fax! Fast forward to 3 days ago.. we drive past the new location and I tell my honey we gotta check out this place. We find close parking and hurry inside. Line moves fairly quick, but it's a 2 man show. Prices for the bourbon chicken are very reasonable. The plate (or box rather) is huge!! Lots of chicken atop steamed rice and we chose Cajun potatoes and Mac and cheese as our side. The chicken thighs were so tasty! I don't even really like dark chicken, but the meat is super tender. They have a couple other food options available, but the menu is fairly limited. Can't beat the price at 11.50ish for enough food to feed 2 people. read more

You First have to humble yourself for the area of you plan to go in person. If you walk Colfax from the Capital building you will see a lot of people laying on the streets homeless although I am told it's better than what it was. They didn't bother us so we were OK. The the steamed veggies were buttered and lightly salted, the cabbage had a slight sweetness but still kinda bland, but the potatoes were delicious...shoulda got a double order lol. This place has the best cooked comfort food and deserves the recognition it gets! We've been going since it was at the old location. Back then you'd stand in line in the cold and move at a snail's pace to get food that had already been precooked and only needed to be scooped in. Not sure why the lines were so long then. In this new location, it's pretty nice. It's about the same, but you do get a good sitting area and even TVs to watch. I've gone back a few times and one time we were lucky because we were the only people in line and we got our food pretty quick. They give you gargantuan portions at an okay price. I have been wanting to come here for awhile now. First of all the portions are huge, I ordered the combo 1, which was the bourbon chicken with two sides. There were slot of chooses but ended up getting the Mac n cheese and the Cajun potatoes. The Mac n cheese was definitely on the creamy side which I loved. The Cajun potatoes might be a little soggy for some,... but I enjoy them like that so I felt they were good. The amount of the chicken that gave me was seriously no joke, definitely shareable with another person and you would both be full. Loved that they drizzled a bunch of such on the rice. The chicken was a little burnt on some pieces but overall the flavor was great. I also got a egg roll for 89cents it one of the fat egg rolls that I grew up. Food is really good but the price increases are out of control. The combo was $15 less than 6 months ago and now it's almost $19! And it doesn't include a drink like it used to years ago when I first started going here. The food tastes great and they give you good portions, but using inflation as an excuse to keep jacking up the price means a lot of us will be going here less and less. Is it going to be $25 by Christmas? If you can afford it, the bourbon chicken is the best thing on the menu and pretty much all the sides are good. The mac and cheese and spicy potatoes are my favorite. Also, order ahead and just do take out. The restaurant usually has the news on the TV and is not always very clean. Also, you are very likely to witness a fight right outside the front door so it's best to spend as little time on the premises as possible. If you go there to order, expect to wait at least 15 minutes as the service is oddly slow for just dishing up food that's already made. Bourbon grill has delicious food, and they pack the to go container until it barely closes! They definitely don't skimp on the food. The price is reasonable for how much they give you even though it's like $16. They say they open at 11, but sometimes you have a wait a bit for the owners to unlock the doors. Once inside, most of the food (minus the blackened fish) are already prepared, so you tell them what you want and they scoop it in a container for you. The service is fast, and the staff are friendly. There are several seats to eat there, and I have never had a problem finding a parking spot even though it's street parking in Denver.
