Bourbon chicken entree
Alejandra B.

We're not from here but stopped by because this place had good ratings and the food looked great and we were not disappointed. I'm glad I put this spot in my list of food places to try because it was absolutely delicious, super flavorful, and more than reasonably priced. The food came out relatively quick and was fresh, the guy who attended us was nice. I would love for this restaurant to be in California because I would practically live here.

A great price for some tasty chicken! I've seen this place all over my FYP on TikTok so I had to check it out. Located off Colfax, I suggest side street parking. Colfax is undergoing major construction so be prepared for frequent stops. The cashier was kind and friendly :) the chef was nice too! Personally gave us our food! There is plenty of indoor seating so come with a friend and stay a while! It wasn't busy when we showed up so the noise level was kept to a minimum. The overall taste and quality of the chicken was delicious! It was so flavorful and juicy too! I got the classic bourbon chicken cause I wanted to taste the original flavor! I absolutely love it! I can't wait to go back and try another flavor or maybe get a different combo!

I'm probably gonna get a lot of flacks by giving 3 stars to one of Denver's most cherished "hole in the wall" turned "mom and pop" spot. Believe me I've had this saved on my high to-try list for so long, perhaps the anticipation added to the agony when things didn't go completely right. This was strictly my experience for that day. I had placed a group order online for a 4:30pm pick up. I arrived at the neighborhood and of course parking was tight. I thought I'd just go in and out to pick up the food. But I got there and my order wasn't even started yet. I was repeatedly told because I had ordered wings, they take longer to make as they make them fresh to order. Throughout the 15 min wait, the guy who looks to be owner or owner's son (?) was very courteous, offered me drinks while I wait, etc. I really appreciated that but if I didn't mind the waiting, I would've dined in. I chose to place an order online because I needed my food to be ready for pick up at 4:30pm! Also, I was a little nervous waiting in there by myself. I don't need to say much about that part of the the Colfax neighborhood for you to understand what I'm talking about. I stood at a corner and these customers without any sense of personal space just kept crowding me, probably thought why wasn't I sitting down.... in any case, I was made uncomfortable. I wished more than anything my friends were here and we'd be eating already. The food came out fresh but by the time I got them to the destination half an hour later, the fries were soggy and the paper bag soaked with oil. The portion size is surprisingly large. Bourbon chicken was delicious - I wish we had all gotten that because the other stuff (wings, potatoes, mac and cheese) were just ok. The spicy spaghetti tasted pretty good but I'm not sure whey they were cut up - I prefer my spaghetti long. All in all, I'm glad I finally got to try Bourbon Grill and if anyone asks me what to get there, I'd answer: just the bourbon chicken!

I ended up coming here at 11am on a Tuesday simply because the first two places I tried nearby hadn't opened yet. I saw afterwards that the Yelp reviews for this place are overwhelmingly positive, but maybe I just wasn't in the right mindset to enjoy it. The inside of the place didn't seem very clean. I was actually afraid to eat much of my BBQ chicken because I was genuinely concerned that it would give me food poisoning based on the general vibe of the place. It also took a long time for them to take our order even though there was no line. But to be fair, the bbq chicken tasted pretty good - I would have enjoyed it if I wasn't so sketched out by the setting! (And no food poisoning as of 36 hours out!)

Wtf were you thinking giving this place 4 stars, Matt?! This only proves that we grow and evolve as we get older. And sometimes we make detrimental mistakes. Bourbon Grill is for the people. And we the people are grateful. The only downside since my last review is that the prices are higher. But which restaurant isn't? Just the way the world is right now. And who's to complain when you receive quite possible the largest box of food in Denver? It's legitimately two full meals! The pro move is the No. 1 Bourbon Chicken Combo. Commit it to your memory. You can customize accordingly, but my go-to is Bourbon Chicken with Mac & Cheese, and Egg Roll. The charred chicken thighs sit atop a bed of steamed white rice. For $20.13 you're getting one of the most comforting meals you'll find in Denver. I am truly obsessed with this place and will sing its praises to anyone I know. If you're a hater, I don't know what to tell you. More for me then! Bourbon Grill, you have my vote any day.

Looking for a cheap meal that would probably last you at least 2 meals?? Look no further! Portions here are so generous! Their typical meal comes with 2 sides. I personally went with their mac and cheese and steamed veggies. If you like gooey and heavy cheese sauce on your mac, this place is for you! The Bourbon chicken is the best thing I have ever tried in a very long time! It was sweet and super flavorful. Be aware, if you come here at night, it is definitely a little sketchy and has no parking lot designated for the restaurant. I personally would not dine in, but they have some tables open for that!

SO MUCH FOOD in one order! If you've never been they'll give you samples to help you decide. When I say sample a piece of chicken is like a 1/4 thigh so after 3 samples you might be full already. We got 2 combos one Bourbon and one Blackened to share. I'll say the bourbon ended up being the overall favorite and what we'd order again. The chicken comes in a bed of steamed rice and with the combo you add 2 sides.... the sides are not the shining stars here but I'd pick the potatoes and Mac n cheese if I get sides again. The spaghetti is a little sweet and wasn't really my jam but I was told it one of the most popular choices. Also note that there is enough food in one order to feed like 3-4 people so hubs and I are going to be eating this meal for days! The staff was super friendly and really helpful when navigating what to order as a 1st timer. Ambiance... it's Colfax and yet I'd totally come back!

Awesome as always, great food, always pack out the plate! Wish there was a closer one to me!

The bourbon chicken was tasty! I got mac&cheese, and steamed potatoes as my sides. The Mac was not bad, but the potatoes were not my favorite. Next time I am going to try another side! Make sure you get an egg roll or 3...

One of my favorite go to spots for bourbon chicken. Freshly made with a crisp charcoal taste. It comes with a sweet sauce that is delicious over your rice. It comes with two sides and the amount they give you is definitely worth your money! They always overload your to go box. I love love their macaroni and cheese! The owner is always so friendly and the employees too! I always have good service. It is often busy and the employees always take care of you !

No. 1 Bourbon Chicken Combo with Macaroni and Cheese and Mixed Vegetables

I hate to admit the Yelp! gods failed me on this eatery. The food portions were very generous, like BBQ / soul food style portions. The bourbon chicken was perfectly cooked and flavored, but chopped so weird that I didn't know whether to use a knife or just gnaw it off bite by bite. Not date-friendly, for sure. That's where the compliments end, unfortunately. The restaurant looked like it was clean overall, but several tables were filthy and I couldn't find a two-top without soda and sauce smears all over it. Ugh. The Mac and cheese was the most bland, ballpark-cheese sauce / overcooked catered wedding-esque noodles I'd ever eaten. Terrible. The boiled mixed vegetables (eww) weren't steamed, just soaked in buttery salty liquid. The service was fine, a very efficient older gentlemen did quick work of taking my order which I appreciated. I'm hopeful others have better visits than I did. I won't be back to try again.

Ask the Community - Bourbon Grill

Does the spicy noodles have nuts?

No, I don't think so... they are just spaghetti noodles with a garlicky spicy soy sauce, no veggies or nuts in them.

How to book a table? Is there a separate seat for children?

There's tables to sit at yes, but I didn't notice kids seating - no reservations needed

Is it still open? i drove by the other day and closed and looked shut down-- anyone know?

Still open, they just moved a few blocks west to a bigger space on Colfax.

The owner was so nice and down to earth. Mr. Henry was very welcoming; he felt like family. My friend and I started with the boudin balls, which tasted more like salmon croquettes, which would have been amazing as croquettes, but as boudin balls, we did not taste rice much at all, and no sauce was served with them. I was desiring some Crawfish ettouffe and they were completely out of that, so i settle for the pasta monica with shrimp, which looked nice, but was way too salty to enjoy. I tried to push through but if I had continue to, it would have burned my tongue. The po boys was great 10/10 the fried catfish was 10/10. fries was 20/10 perfect crisp and softness fillings. hurricane drink was a nice strong & sweetness, a ball was drop when salt was rim vs sugar, but nonetheless it was close to the best. I really want to try that sold out crawfish ettouffe next time i'm here. Thank you Josh for gifting me the blueberry cake that was very sweet!!! I love Mr Henry homemade signature dessert. What we tried: Hot Boiled Louisiana Crawfish - Spicy, flavorful, and seasoned until the spirits say, "dats enuff." Served with corn, potatoes, and sausage. Hot Louisiana Boudin - If you know, you know. If you don't... Google it. You won't regret it. Jambalaya - Just like their mama made it, in a pot their grandpa used while helping build the Causeway across Lake Pontchartrain. It's giving flavor and history. Best bite: Crawfish has never been my go-to, but if all crawfish tasted like this, it might be. Spicy, full of flavor, and perfectly seasoned. And don't get me started on the corn because I'd take a whole plate of just that. The jambalaya also hit the spot (it's my NoLa fave), and for the record... I had my first and last pickle shot. Not too bad, but as someone who grew up in south Louisiana with family owned seafood businesses, I thought it could have a bit more cajun flavor and seasoning. Crawfish was juicy though and not too tough to peel. I ordered some boudin and the links were a little pricey at $7 for about a 6"-8" link. I believe it was smoked as it was on the drier side. The flavor was there, but could use some more jalapeño and parsley in the filling. All in all, a decent place for cajun seafood in an area that lacks accessibility for it.

We were greeted by Brad, a particularly friendly, personable, and efficient server and soon seated in the comfortable dining room which features just the right number of New Orleans-themed tchotchkes. My girlfriend ordered Eggs Sardou which features creamed spinach, Gulf shrimp, poached eggs, and Hollandaise. She chose the jalapeño cheese grits. That said, it's also pretty cramped, and the wait times can be long (sometimes even longer than quoted). One thing we do appreciate is how they've made the waiting experience more comfortable. There's a somewhat hidden upstairs waiting area that's especially nice during those unpredictable winter days, and you can even grab a drink in a tiny room tucked away on the other side of the dining area. It's a thoughtful touch that helps pass the time. The staff are consistently friendly and create a warm and inclusive atmosphere. As for the food - there's a lot to love. The Eggs Sourdou, Pain Perdu, and Bennifer standout. The jalapeño grits are another highlight. On the flip side, the Cajun breakfast with red beans and rice was a bit much- it became overwhelming after a few bites, so I probably wouldn't go that route again. Overall, the food is impressively comparable to what you'd find in New Orleans, which is such a treat to have close to home. With more Creole spots popping up around town, we're excited to explore and compare- but Lucille's has definitely set a high bar. You're in for quite an experience if you order the Sazerac- it's more impressive than any I've had in New Orleans.
