Once you get over the spookiness of Party City (it somehow reminds me of a zombie apocalypse?) you can really make use of this silly place. As an event planner, I can generally rely on Party City to have many of the bits & bobs I need to add razzle dazzle to my events. Pink cowboy hat? Check. Gift bags in every color of the rainbow? Check. Plastic table cloths? Check. Balloons? Check. Let's talk about the balloons in particular, though. There are a few balloon options: 1 - Buy a package of balloons & have them fill them up behind the counter. They charge a filling fee. 2 - Bring in your own balloons & have them fill them up behind the counter. They charge a filling fee. 3 - Buy a package of balloons & fill it up elsewhere. You can buy a portable helium tank & fill them up at home, if you'd like. 4 - Buy one of their fancy balloons behind the counter & they'll fill it up. The cost of filling is included in the fancy balloon's price. I've tried every single on of these options. Recently, I indulged in #4 & it was ... not worth it. My big, shiny, fancy rainbow balloon made it 30 seconds out of the store until the wind ripped it off the ribbon it was (not so) secured to & it absconded into the sky. I had to laugh. Okay, anyways. It was filthy and looked as though it has never been washed. Straps were broken and hanging. Windows on the tent had holes in them. To top it off when they came to pick up the tent (earlier than agreed upon) the "operations manager" was extremely intoxicated. My guests were alarmed at his demeanor. The icing on the cake was that the guys then proceeded to hit one of my guests vehicles with their truck. My guest decided to take care of the scratches himself because he felt sorry for the kids who seemed nervous to call their boss. He just wanted to hit the road because our guest was from out of state and it was late and he didn't want to have to wait for them to get a hold of the boss. I'd suggest finding another rental company.

(This was quite a hassle to begin with, so the red flags should've went up then & there.) I ordered a package of 100 rubber ducks and when they arrived, I received only 97 in the box. (I was doing a promotion with my business that was awarded 100 winners, so I thought this would be perfect, and now I have to go find three more to make my contest to be as advertised at my event.) I first wrote an e-mail, which was never acknowledged, and so I called customer service to inquire about getting the missing ducks. I was told that they could not send me the missing items and that they would just refund my credit card for the missing items. I still haven't gotten my refund as of yet (and it's been a week since I contacted them.) Will probably not order from again if this is their standard practice of doing business.

When 9/11 happened, I was working that day, and they wheeled a tv out into the room where all the customer service people were, and we were on the phones trying to take orders for this junk and help customers who were complaining all while watching the towers fall on tv. Just an insensitive, gross bunch of people.
