After looking at their dinner menu I was very tempted to try this place out. I already knew what I was going to have, the parisienne gnocchi. My husband ordered the roasted ling cod with clams. We both enjoyed our meals, but weren't "wowed" as we had hoped. I think we both liked my dish better. The only problem with it was that it was a tad too dry and there wasn't enough sauce in my opinion. We saw everyone around us ordering fries and asked our waitress about it. She said it's from their lounge menu, but that we could order some. I'm SO glad we did, cause honestly that was the best part of our dinner. They were THE BEST fries I've ever had in my life. Super crunchy on the outside and soft and creamy on the inside! For dessert, we got the opera bar, which I think sounded better in the description than it tasted. It was okay, but nothing to write home about. All in all, great service and good food, but not exquisite! read more

Fantastic!! I've been here on a couple of occasions. Once during Dine Out and another just for a special family dinner. During Dine Out we were treated well. I never felt I was there at Dine Out like some restaurants. Service was impeccable and attentive. Food was amazing. read more

For a restaurant that positions themselves as high-end, and reflects this in the prices, my first experience at Boulevard was very disappointing. Extras such as a mimosa cart, or the daily bakery are great, but leave these out if you cannot first master the basics. Service and food were both poor. After working in the service industry for over 3 years, you learn that clearing dirty plates promptly is a must, especially at a restaurant of this "calibre". Our plates were stacking, and servers were no where to be seen. A drink order was forgotten, we waited 30+ min for our brunch, when the restaurant was virtually empty, only to receive cold eggs benedict, which I could have tossed together at home in 5 minutes, for a lot less than $18. Furthermore, continuously placing dishes in front of the wrong patron is a little embarrassing...I believe a restaurant such as Boulevard likely has seat numbers, and I suggest the staff double check them before running the food. I am normally happy to tip, and more than an 18% gratuity, but I was bothered to have my gratuity included today, as by no means was the service an 18% or higher. It's restaurants like this that are the reason I avoid eating in Downtown Vancouver. High prices with nothing to back it up. read more

What an experience everytime! Beautiful and classy, peaceful interior with very knowledgeable and well trained staff. Sommelier was super helpful as well in recommending an absolutely delicious wine. Food is fantastic. One of my favourites in the city! read more

They did a great job with the renovated interior, elegant and modern. Service was impeccable - our waiter was very attentive and helpful to our group of 6. We each had 3 courses and wine. The food, however, was a bit of a letdown. All the dishes were beautifully plated but there was little done to elevate many of the dishes (ie. chicken wings were scant and nothing special, sausage pizza mediocre, salads and soups were just fine) and others also fell off the mark (the lingcod was not well served by the ham hock base which overpowered everything, average chicken helped considerably by the bacon jus). It's a great place to impress a first date, but overall a bit overrated and overpriced. read more

It was the most terrible dining experience I have ever had in Vancouver!!!!! We arrived in the restaurant around 5:00PM at night, after siting down, the waiter handed over the dinner menus to my friend and me, there was no happy hour menu. Then we asked the waiter it is still at happy hour time? He replied yes. Since the main purpose for visiting this restaurant was to taste the happy hour oysters, we asked the waiter again to confirm whether the oysters were still available in happy hours, he said yes again. We ordered dozen of the oysters which the waiter recommended to us, as well some other courses as well. The oysters were so fresh and tasty, the two main courses were fine as well, but the service that waiter deliveried was so terrible. While we enjoying the food, the waiter came back couple times to disturb us in the middle of talking and asked the same question whether the food was great. I do understand that's part of the waiter's job, but seriously you should not disturb your customer while in middle of their talking. That was the first thing we started to feel unsatisfied. Second was when the waiter filling the glass for us, he spilled some of the water on the table without cleaning until we asked. The last thing I felt the most frustrated was our bill after we found the oysters were not charged as happy hour ones. We asked why those are charged much more than what we expected from the happy hours, what he replied was the oysters we ordered were not covered under happy hour price, it is only some kind of the oysters were. I mean, people spend more than hundreds of dollars in this kind of restaurant doesn't even deserve an notification from you before placing the order?? Especially we expressed our interested for the happy hour oysters right before we started ordering anything? If this is the way how you treated your customers, then I will never recommend to any of my friends in the future. read more

Very stiff service. Manager came to pour our wine- unpleasant demeanor. Food was uninspired... there's better seafood in Vancouver. Not worth the price! read more

Had a great experience here last weekend! Came for happy hour stayed for dinner! The wings are delicious! And you have to try their Korean style hot dog! Also they have buck a shuck oysters! Dinner was also amazing,! We had the sablefish and the pork Chop! Both were to die for! The dining room is beautiful, and they have two nice bars! One is dark and comfy, and the other is more lively! The service was perfect! read more

So unfortunately we were really excited for their happy hour, but it failed to impress. We got a bartender who was his first day so both the Mule and the High ball drinks were horrible. He overcharged us for our beer and when we questioned him, he said the "menu had changed." The octopus ceviche was Doritos and tomatoes with rubber octopus scattered in. The oysters were what you would expect for $1 each. Overall very disappointed but very happy we didn't eat there for dinner like we had originally planned. read more

My colleagues and I entertained clients over dinner here last week. I was the first to arrive, and the hostess busy seating other guests, I was handled by a young woman in a white uniform, who led me to two or three different table options before I settled on a large booth. I had time to speak with the waiter, who seemed reasonably knowledgeable. My colleagues arrived, and then we waited. After a time the restaurant figured out that our clients had been seated at another table, and led them to our table. Drinks and such followed, and I noticed that the waiter was doing everything himself - there was no busboy. We ordered the seafood tower (not the Royal Seafood Tower that our waiter strongly recommended), and it was then that I knew something was amiss. "All I'm sayin is you left money on the table," our waiter commented under his breath. The rest of the evening the waiter was remote, mildly surly, his service detached, wholly without a human dimension. The food - not one for 'pretty food' I'm perhaps not the best judge - but it was not in any way exceptional. My colleague paid the bill - a substantial amount - and received not so much as a thank you. In the end I felt the experience to be vastly overrated and a bit sad, the staff's lack of professional decorum disappointing. read more

My boyfriend I changed our reservation last minute to this restaurant and were blown away. We walked in 2 hours before we had initially booked our other dinner and got a spot at Boulevard. The ladies at the front were very helpful. When we came back during dinner we were seated in a very quiet room. No other tables around, it was the perfect setting as we were celebrating our 2 year anniversary. Our hostess was amazing she actually told the server that we came for a special occasion and we didn't have to tell our server. He was AMAZING. Very attentive to our table even though he had other tables in a louder section. He was very educated with the new menu. He didn't have a favorite dish which said a lot about the new menu change that Alex Chen has created. The atmosphere was amazing, the service was perfect, the mixed drinks were very unique. Everything we had was just perfect. We ended the night with a dessert that had a message for us saying happy anniversary. I found that very thoughtful. We had only told our hostess it was our anniversary and with most hostess they just sit you to your table and call it a night but our hostess and server were the best. Will definitely come back before the end of the year. Hope everyone else enjoys their experience as much as we did. read more

I dined at the Boulevard with my wife and kids, we had ordered the seafood tower among other dishes. While most of dishes we had ordered were well prepared, one of the small dishes in the seafood tower had a piece of large clear plastic sheet in it (about 1 inch by 2 inches in size). I informed our waiter about the plastic in the food and asked that he inform the kitchen, the waiter politely acknowledge, but that was the last I heard about the matter from him or any others. It was very disappointing that neither the Maitre d' or the waiter had offered an apology or explain to us where the plastic had come from (was it from packaging material for something raw or supplies that should not have touched a cooked dish?) or did anything to make up for the fact that this had diminished our overall dining experience. I did not want to make a big fuss about the matter as I was with my family for a nice dinner out and ruin their mood, however with Boulevard positioning itself as a high end establishment with above average standards, I expected much more out the of how the matter was handled (as an example, not charging us full price for a dish that was essentially ruined and inedible, or at the very very least have the Maitre d' come over and explain to us what that plastic was and apologize). read more

Wow, probably one of the worst meals I've ever had in vancouver. Went with my hubby and every single item we ordered was BAD...bland or just plain bad. The presentation was beautiful but the taste and flavour were definitely missing. The fries that come with the mussels (with a very bland broth) were GROSS. How can you go wrong with fries?! My husband ordered the clam/shrimp pasta and it was the grossest sauce we have every had (and he eats a lot of pasta)- it tasted like canned tomatoes that haven't been cooked down. Like metal. The burrata/beet salad had a morsel of burrata and barely any beets. And it was served so cold it actually hurt my teeth (i order burrata at any restaurant that has it on the menu and it is always served at room temperature). The Hamachi was very thick and no marinate (desperately needed some acid). We were very disappointed and would never eat there again. The room was beautiful though and the service was great. So maybe id go back for drinks. AND THATS IT. For this price point, i'll go back to blue water, le crocodile, and even Il Gairdino is better. read more

Don't bother going to Blvd. Myself and a friend were just there for dinner. As soon as the waitress realized we weren't going to drink (and drive), she was an ice queen. In fact, unpleasant. The food was tasty, portions adequate, good bread, good selection but limited scope to menu, no coffee/tea offered after dinner so we took the blatant hint; got the bums rush to vacate the chairs. There was space for other guests, and we were very polite and didn't linger, but it was clear that since there was less revenue to be generated by women not drinking alcohol that we may as well leave. It was a very noisy, unwelcoming atmosphere although visually pretty for Christmas. The nice young hostess however was very gracious. The waitress ruined any chance at a pleasant dinner experience by her very unfriendly attitude. We tipped at 15% and got out of there. I've been going to the Sutton Place for years, even back when it was Le Meridien and tonight's experience will ensure I won't return for years to come. read more
