Amazing gym with great vibes - so sad it closed down! Great spot to climb and learn new routes! Really enjoyed the yoga sessions too read more

Zach is amazing instructor for intro to bouldering. This was my first class and I definitely am looking forward to conquering the "problems". They offer shoe rentals and chalk rentals. The space itself is also very impressive upstairs they have yoga classes as well as a cardio area and a weight area plus a sauna and co-working space. I am super impressed and I look forward to coming back next weekend. read more

I have NOT climbed the rock wall, BUT I have taken the yoga class offered several times and I love it! It's a dimly lit studio with sound bowls and mirrors all around. I recommend checking it out to stretch your body and focus on breathwork. read more

Will have to cancel my membership shortly-86 a month is just not competitive/worth it for someone who mainly wants weights and cardio equipment . If I owned the place, I would offer a tiered system maybe charge differently for different services like the people that want to use the climbing wall which I don't. Example: basic membership $45 Use the climbing wall, including shoes : $7for each usage of the wall. But hey, if your membership income is off the charts, then you don't need my advice. read more

The gym previously known as Oso Climbing Gyms had a name change and is undergoing ownership changes, but the quality and community is still 5 stars. I'm a regular here and love the LGBTQ+ friendly vibes of this gym. I've seen so many new folks come to climb, workout, and/or take classes and enjoy events. I highly recommend trying a day pass to see if this gym is a good fit for you. read more

Fantastic climbing gym! I go to Austin Bouldering Project (both locations) and this Dallas location is definitely on the swankier side. The co-working space has ample outlets and overlooks the climbing. Even the couches have USB ports. Showers and locker rooms are super clean and modern. Routes are plentiful. Love that having a BP membership grants me access to multiple gyms! read more

Spacious climbing gym with a full gym, sauna, showers, and yoga. Came here with a couple of my friends who used their guest pass, and had a great workout. There's a variety of walls for all levels, including beginners such as myself. They have benches around the perimeter and have bandaids available as well. When you first go to the gym, you'll have to sign the online waiver and go through a short live orientation. They did provide climbing shoes as part of the guest pass. The second level has the yoga studio, a study area, and even a bar. The bathrooms/locker rooms are behind the front desk area, and there are shelves if you prefer placing your items there, and not have to fiddle around with creating your own code. Overall, the space felt very new and clean, and you could definitely try a lot of various paths during your visit here. read more

OMG!!! CAN YOU SAY OMG!!! Love that this location is right next to my work, UTSW. I would definitely joined if this was opened before I joined Equinox. I came here with a day pass purchased. Rock Wall 5/5 - different colors/levels, walls are all spread out and I saw in the back there is a wall where you follow the lights while climbing. Front Desk 5/5 - everyone is extremely friendly and helpful. Bathroom 5/5 - the sauna is in there, bathroom, showers, lockers and products for you that may need Yoga 5/5 - OMG this space is so nice. definitely a good room to get a workout in Gym 4/5 - i want to give this a 5/5... its awesome, just wish it was bigger =) there is a selection of weights, cables, barbells, resistance and many more! This is by far the best climbing gym I've been to and seen. Thanks OSO! read more

I love this gym, the routesetters, and the staff members. That being said, for how much I am paying, the amenities are seriously lacking. The A/C barely works, which makes climbing and working out extremely uncomfortable. The water in the bathrooms are also weirdly hot, which already makes your raw hands burn more. With a $80 membership, you would expect the gym to be at least cool for you to work out in. read more

Oso has something for every skill set and nearly every fitness interest! It's also relatively new with tons of perks, friendly staff / community, & the CLEANEST bathrooms I've ever seen in a fitness facility.. When you walk in, you'd be amazed at how cool this facility is - color-coded grips, crimps, etc. line the walls dictating the difficulty of the climb. Walk to your left and you'll see a full-fledged gym. In the middle - CLEAN restrooms and a sauna! Upstairs - treadmills, a little bar & study area! $$$: it's a little pricey for a monthly fee that roughly hits near the $100 mark; HOWEVER, there are TONS of perks of this gym, from a sauna to shoe rentals (even though they aren't great) and to even classes! Although, I believe you do need to pay for additional classes / "fitness+." Location: it's in a decent location for those near inner-city Dallas & surrounding areas (design district). I do wish, however, that they opened up a location near Fort Worth! Check it out! They allow one free visit for first-timers. read more

I was so excited when this climbing gym finally opened. I had followed their progress during the build and couldn't wait for a gym near Oak Cliff! I even went their opening morning - my first climb since COVID lockdown. I have even been several times since with day passes because I really did want to like Oso, truly. However, it feels more like a fitness gym that happens to have an adjacent bouldering facility. It leaves me wanting more and that's what I had expected. It's beautiful and well thought out in design, but it feels to me that it's lacking soul and that they cater to a different crowd than climbers. The route setting seems to have some gaps between grades but I do know that they reset often which is nice. They have a kilter board at different verts every day. No corners were cut in the making of this place. I know it appeals to others tastes, just not mine, and that's okay. I wish them continued success. They are very clean and have a lot of amenities that people look for in fitness facilities and then some, which may be why passes and memberships are so expensive. They offer a wide array of fitness classes, yoga classes, have a cardio area, a weight training space, and saunas all in a convenient location in the design district. I'll probably pop in from time to time just to mix things up. read more

Update (6/5/2020): The weight room is now open and it's awesome! Aside from the typical machines and free weights, there is a huge section with turf, which allows for exercises like the sled push. The turf also has a dedicated section dedicated for battle rope exercises- which is awesome! The staff here also constantly change up the routes on the walls, probably all the routes on a certain wall will be refreshed every 2-3 weeks. That's way more often than Summit changes their routes! The only thing I wish this gym had was a scale lol Original review: I will definitely update this review as COVID-19 rules become more lax and more facilities in this gym open up. For now though, I've gotta give OSO a 5 star review. Dallas badly needed a dedicated bouldering gym (instead of top rope), and this place is fantastic! The facility is large and clean, and the walls look like plywood, but in fact are made from texture grained polymer. The route difficulties seem to be paralleled with the bouldering routes at Summit Climbing. After 2 months of quarantine, I feel like I'm starting from day one again, with no callouses on my hands. Climbing with masks is certainly also a bit tough, but I'm glad to see the gym obey the law. Looking forward to coming back and updating this revue read more

I visited for global climbing day since the gym was offering free day passes. This was my first time climbing since Covid-19, and my, did it feel AMAZING. I had to start with the easy routes to get back into it, and I've definitely lost some finger grip strength, but I was so thrilled to be back on those walls! Make sure to bring your own chalk (the website says liquid is preferred, but I saw many people with chalk). Shoe rental is included with a day pass. There are lockers available in the restrooms to store your belongings. I also had the opportunity to take a yoga class. I was on the waitlist, but some people no-showed, so I was able to take their place. The class is limited to 12 people, and there are tape markings on the floor spaced 6 feet apart. You will need to bring your own mat. I had an amazing time with Virginia, and I felt so refreshed afterwards. There is also a full set of cardio equipment and a weight room with lots of workout equipment/machines! I am definitely getting a membership here and will be back soon! :) read more

What drew me to Oso was a good friend of mine, Roxanne, raving about their yoga classes. I definitely enjoyed my yoga when trialing it during their anniversary in May. I have been back three times since then, but hopefully can make it regularly. The energize class challenges me and I also feel refreshed after that endorphin release. The facility is overall clean and is staffed by an amazing staff!!! I also like that they have a sauna and can accomplish a workout and a moment to wind down even more post yoga. read more

I missed hitting up gyms ever since COVID-19 hit. It sucked knowing they served as superspreaders of the virus. However, after a while, my adjustable dumbbells, pull-up bar, and rings don't do it for me. I missed moving heavy weight, but I prioritized staying safe. Even when businesses opened up in Texas, I still didn't go to the gym. But then I started considering it and found Oso. After learning that barely anyone uses their facility in the morning and the precautionary measures they take, I chatted about it with my physician of a partner. She said it seemed safe, so I decided to subscribe to a reoccurring three-month membership. General info: - They have monthly, three-month, and year-long memberships - Each membership provides unlimited access to their rock climbing walls, gym, yoga classes (which I don't feel comfortable attending, but others do), and every other facility - Hand sanitizer resides at the front, and they scatter cleaning materials throughout - They carry drinks and snacks and rock climbing gear at the front - They have socially-distanced tables for anyone (especially students) on the second floor and in the back About their walls: - I don't climb that much anymore, but this bouldering gym has plenty of both straight vert and curved walls - Oso has a high-tech, inclinable wall towards the back where people can create routes on their phones, and this gigantic wall will illuminate with different paths for climbers About their gym: - It consists of two squat racks, both incline and flat benches, several pull-up bars with different grips, rings, cables, RTX station, weight sled, and more - During warmer times, they will open up their garage door I think the gym could do a better job enforcing social distancing, but I just choose not to go during peak hours. Check it out for yourself! read more

This gym is amazing! Everyone who works here is so nice! They have various events throughout the month that range from bouldering basics, run club, to volunteering. It's a really diverse and inclusive gym. I was really impressed with the bathroom/locker facilities (super clean!!) Membership pricing is really good for what you get. Around $80/month if you commit to 1 year read more

This gym is absolutely amazing! By far one of the nicest facilities I've ever been in. The climbing area is massive with just about every climbing option available. The fitness, cardio, and yoga areas are clean and beautifully organized. The staff at Oso is one of the friendliest and most helpful I've ever met. The value you receive for your membership rate is unbelievable. I can't recommend this place enough! read more

Nice, clean, friendly, well-stocked gym. I love bouldering because climbing is fun for me and heights are not. Some gyms have mostly tall climbs and very little bouldering, I like that this one is all bouldering. They change the walls 3 times a week so there is always new stuff to climb. Went and climbed a few times this week. Everyone wears a mask (even while climbing) and you're never far from hand sanitizer. read more

Staff are nice, gym is cool. Except for the no shirt policy... I feel more comfortable and free climbing with out a shirt. Lame.

My favorite climbing gym in DFW. Beautiful and clean facility, friendly staff, lots of classes and events. Besides rock climbing, Oso also functions as a "regular" gym, with a full range of workout equipment and fitness classes as well as a sauna. I highly recommend! read more

I am already addicted to this gym. Granted, it's been a couple of months thanks to COVID-19, so I may just be enjoying getting back into it, but I think I've found a new home gym. I'm excited to utilize the fitness facilities and amenities when they are able to open up. If they're anything like the caliber of the climbing areas, I think I'll be quite satisfied. I'm also glad that it's near the heart of downtown, and not on the way out. It's less than five miles from my apartment, so it's an average ten minute drive there and back; I don't have to go out of the way. It's also a bit hidden, which kind of makes it feel low key. The app is awesome. The kilter board is revolutionary, so I'm glad someone in DFW thought to incorporate it into their gym. The staff is friendly and recognized me by my second visit. There's so much more to add, but I think this will suffice. If you're looking for a bouldering and fitness gym to call home, make a trip to Oso and I think you'll be pleased. If I can add something, my least favorite thing about this gym is also something I've found to be extremely beneficial. The walls are HEAVILY textured for smearing. It's great when I can't find a foothold, but I have walked away with many scratches, but that's not too much different from being on stone, so...it's a wash! Still my favorite gym! read more
