I showed up to get some batting work in, only to find the entire building closed. An electrician on site mentioned it was due to electrical issues, which honestly makes sense considering how often the machines don't work properly. The frustrating part is there was no notification anywhere saying the facility was closed. Google Maps showed the place as completely open. I've been to other D-BAT locations, and this one is by far the worst experience I've had. Even the bats are in poor condition.

There were over 100(?) pickleball courts hosting a range of youth and professional athletes for the world championship weekend. In DFW there are what I call "Pickleball Operations" and "Places That Offer Pickleball." Unfortunately where I am in the game, Preston Placehouse is more of a "Place That Offers Pickleball" - which isn't what I'm looking for but may be great for you. The courts are colorful and (mostly) in great shape and the spacing is pretty good. They have morning ($10) and evening ($15) open plays which isn't the most expensive in town but not the cheapest. The Open Plays are All Levels, so a bit of a gamble in terms of the quality of player you will find. Last night I found some really good ones but there weren't many. When I first went there there were more, but it seems like they may be choosing places like Pickler Universe and The Picklr. Preston Playhouse though is a fun atmosphere and great place to bring friends or your own group but it's not a pickleball community focused on ramping up competition or teaching skills and it doesn't try to be.

While we were there for our private event, there was a tournament wrapping up, others who rented individual courts with friends, and a birthday party. - The space: Preston Playhouse is in an old, air conditioned gym so the courts are set up in an open area with a bar / lounge space and arcade games. There are 9 pickleball courts, 2 padel courts, and a swimming pool. - The service: We were easily able to schedule a private event via email. There was someone onsite to ensure everything went smoothly. We had paddles and balls for our group, snacks ordered via catering, and drink tickets. Our bartender provided great drink recommendations and the coconut lime mocktail was the favorite of the group. - The pricing: Preston Playhouse has monthly memberships that receive discounted rates, but non-members can book courts and participate in open play at a slightly higher price. For our event, the courts were $50/court/hour with a minimum of two courts. Equipment, pickleball pros, food, and beverage were all optional add ons. I appreciated that there wasn't a food and beverage minimum like many other pickleball spots in the area.

Nine months ago, we moved to west Plano and we now drive drive 45+ minutes to practice every weekday because Coach Xandra is an absolute gem! She is incredibly patient, thoughtful, kind, and dedicated. We have been a part of other swim teams, and Coach Xandra's enthusiasm and commitment to the team are superior to anything we have ever experienced. The assistant coaches are just as invested in creating a competitive, but above all fun, swim team with a wonderful sense of camaraderie. We feel so lucky to have found this team. Coach Xandra and the assistant coaches always provide parents with timely information and are extremely responsive to any questions. Practice is offered every weekday and breaks are coordinated with school holidays during the academic school year (in the summer, practice is held almost every weekday except for major holidays like July 4). The pool is very well maintained and we can't wait for the new developments coming to the Lake Highlands Y, including the new outdoor pool area. We also really love the Richardson Y outdoor pool that is used for swim team practices in the summer. Overall, this is an amazing team with a top-notch head coach, wonderful assistant coaches, and supportive parents and family. We can't wait for summer swim team season!

He was playing in the gym before they arrived. After some time, he came out crying because one of the men took his ball and put it away. When I reported the incident, one of the male staff members apologized and retrieved the ball. While I was comforting my grandson, telling him he did nothing wrong and that adults shouldn't be selfish and treat a nine-year-old child that way, I told him to stay near me and continue playing. At that moment, an ignorant female staff member, who was passing by, interjected, saying, "You can't play with the ball in this area." This is the second incident involving her discriminatory behavior towards my family. As I was leaving, deeply disappointed by the behavior--especially since this is supposed to be a Christian establishment--I saw Joseph and informed him. He stated that she shouldn't have said anything to me, as the matter did not involve her. A few weeks after I left, I stopped by to file a formal complaint and asked to speak to Brian, the director or manager of this location. He showed no empathy and instead stated that children should not be left alone. I am 55 years old, a former teacher, and a current paralegal. I was intentionally monitoring my grandson while sitting directly outside the gym in the vending area. This place has changed from a family-friendly, community-oriented place to a worldly, non-family-friendly environment for minority families.

In addition there were three entrées that included a chicken dish a beef dish and a fish dish. There were several selections of vegetables to accompany it. and then there were no less than eight pies to choose from for dessert.
