This is what the 'Standard' arrangement should look like, but I paid more for the 'Premium".
Chris C.

(Updated & Upgraded. See end of review) SUMMARY: Even after discussing on the phone a few changes I wanted to make to one of their pictured arrangements, the flowers were delivered a day late, they did NOT include the primary flower of interest, and the flowers were already wilting a few hours later. DETAILS (WITH PHOTOS): I wanted to send flowers to my sister for her birthday. A friend had advised against using Boulder Gardens, because "the flowers won't last more than a day." But the reviews on Google were really good, and the website images were impressive, so I decided to give them a chance. That was a mistake. My sister's favorite flower is the Japanese Iris, so I selected the 'Blue Skies' arrangement to start with. The photo on the website (see 1st photo attached) is supposed to represent the Standard $66 arrangement. They also offer a Deluxe $77 arrangement, and a Premium $88 arrangement. I ordered the Premium, so the arrangement should have looked even better than the website photo. The website does warn that they reserve the right to substitute different flowers from those pictured on the website. With this in mind, I called two days before her birthday and confirmed that they would have the irises available for the delivery. Well, they missed the birthday delivery date, and it arrived the next day instead. And the arrangement didn't contain ANY irises at all (see 2nd photo). They had substituted delphinium (which can be nice, but these were not; the blooms seemed already spent). Not much blue for an arrangement called 'Blue Skies.' And 8 hours later, these were already drooping (notice the red circles in the 3rd photo). I emailed the florist to explain how disappointed I was in the arrangement and the late delivery day, and requested a refund of 'at least 50%.' The next day, I did receive an email noting a refund of ~50%, but not a single word apologizing for the problems. Getting a partial refund is the only reason I'm rating them two stars instead of one. UPDATE: Ten days after my negative review was posted, I received a call from the business owner, saying that he had just seen the review. He was very nice, and very apologetic. He said that mine wasn't the only recent complaint, and that he'd been 'having some problems with the design team', and had 'made some changes'. He offered to deliver a replacement arrangement, and I said that would be great, if he could make sure that it included blue irises this time, and something yellow to coordinate with the yellow tongues of the irises. He assured me that it would, but said their delivery of flowers hadn't yet arrived that morning, so the arrangement might not be delivered that day. Well, it wasn't delivered that day, nor the next one, nor the next one. But 3 days after the phone call, a nice arrangement was delivered. And it included a lot of blue irises, which was great (but it didn't include any yellow flowers). I've included a photo of the replacement arrangement, so you can see that it is indeed closer in appearance to the arrangement shown on their website. So, because the owner was so nice, and because they sent another arrangement, I'm increasing my star-rating from 2 to 3. But it seems like they're still having problems with making deliveries.

They delivered a beautiful flower arrangement for a dear friend who's dog recently passed away. This was during the busy holiday season and they were understaffed with a Covid complication, but still managed to deliver in a timely fashion. I like supporting smaller/local whenever possible, and BGF is a nice florist. The only negative I could find is that they don't have an answering service, so communication was via email.

Amazing service and product! I am blown away by the follow through of this business. I ordered flowers to be delivered to a friend and they were delivered promptly and safely. They even followed up with me by texting a photograph to me and letting me know that no one had answered the door. I told them it was totally fine for them to be left and they stored them in a bag safely so that they were waiting for her when she got home. The flowers are so beautiful and the customer service is amazing! The price is more than reasonable for the arrangement and delivery considering the thought and care that is put into both. I will definitely be ordering again.

Not a great pic of the flower but, they did a great job.

I used Boulder gardens florist for my wedding and its was wonderful. I have attached photos to show my bouquet. They were attentive and took everything I said and brought to reality within my budget. I wasn't sure what kind of flowers to get just a color theme so they made an appointment for me to come in to their flower storage and it gave me a better idea of what I could want and have.

Horrible. My husband ordered me flowers for our anniversary and are nothing like he ordered online. He payed $70+ dollars for crap the flowers were broken and already wilting. You would get more flowers paying $10 at the grocery store. He is beyond upset about this.

So very sad that I had to post a negative review but after calling (within their 24 hour delivery period-actually less) I have left messages (2), sent emails (5) I have yet to receive a call back regarding my $134.00 floral order. Received a email back stating they were trying to reach me but I had no calls or emails about the issue until I responded back to their email. They said they had no mylar balloons (for new baby girl) and would it be OK to include more flowers? Sadly I agreed to their request even though I had ordered the deluxe arrangement. Flowers were delivered on time but paid for a Teddy Bear for the oldest grandchild and that was not included. That was call one. Then my son sent me a photo of the arrangement and it certainly didn't look like a $75.00 bouquet let alone adding additional flowers. So I called again and all you get is the run around. After calling many times I was finally transferred to a message center to leave a message. I was told to pick a time for a call back and I picked between 2:00 and 3:00 and never received a call back. So went back to the website to note on their check list and chose: Items not delivered. It pulled up my order and noted that the teddy bear had not been delivered. Hit submit and nothing happened after that. The website just sat there. Then saw the arrangement myself 3 days later and it was a very sad looking site. Roses never opened and just drooped. Took photo's and tried calling and sending emails again. This time I received a note (less than 48 hours after delivery) that I would hear from them within 8 hours and still to this day, after many more emails and calls to Avas and this company (showed up on the card that was delivered) no calls back. In fact the phone number for this company rings and then disconnects. Then low and behold I get an email survey from them with 2 questions and no area to leave a comment. One asked if I would recommend them and I replied no and the second question was "did the agent treat me with respect" and I wanted to say What agent? Can't reach a live body? But said "no" and hit send. Then I received an email back stating that I was past the 24 hour deliver response time and read their "agreement" but that they would issue me a $15.00 credit to use their company again. The bear actually cost more that this. But I quickly responded with this exact information about calling within 17 hours of deliver and all the other emails and such and still no call back about the missing and defective flowers. I don't respond negatively and really wanted to resolve the issue with someone but unfortunately stilSo very sad that I had to post a negative review but after calling (within their 24 hour delivery period-actually less) I have left messages (2), sent emails (5) I have yet to receive a call back regarding my $134.00 floral order. Very pleased! I got a bouquet of flowers delivered to a friend for her birthday they were on time and beautiful! A little pricey but pretty normal compared to other flower delivery shops. Thank you for your great service!

This place is great! I stopped in because I've been driving by it so often, I needed to check it out! I went in to buy some house plants and came out with a super cool Money Tree and a Pothos. Each plant was clearly explained to me and I was also informed on how to take care of them. The total cost of both these plants was under $30?!?! THAT'S AMAZING! I love plants and I will be back. Thanks for the great service and patience with all of my question

They did such an amazing job with this bouquet. I am so glad I ordered from here. My boyfriend's mom loved the flowers!! I highly recommend this place despite the 3.5 stars. These flowers really brightened her day. Huge thank you to the florist who arranged these.

We were a while back and picked a sturdy bigger pot of something else that was more hardy than new grown zinnias and just the one pot so we could keep in in the timer mower shed in the yard until a good weather stretch for planting. We saw Zinnias but Kerry and we decided we would let them cover and protect until after the freeze and possible snow. He knew the risk ms and we sure did too having been in Boulder 52 years. We went back today, a gorgeous spring day of a holiday weekend and purchase a whole flat. A woman helped us find the right variety and took us to the extra pay stations set up. We came home and planted immediately into the already prepared raid garden container that we had put in last fall when the tree in that location was removed for wildfire mitigation we need around here. Since it's hard to get good froth of anything immediately above a stump, even one ground down at least 8" , it seemed a perfect spot for a raised container garden. If all goes well and none of the wildlife in west Boulder eat my plants, I'll post an update when they bloom.

The plants don't look their best in the spring because they are dormant. So a beginner would likely dismiss these as dead plants for sale. But long-time Rocky Mountain gardeners know these dry-looking tufts will wake up and grow into healthy plants by late spring or early summer. I've bought many of my starter native plants here and they have matured and multiplied through the years. However, beginners can get lots of help and advice from staff. You need to overcome the expectation of wanting lush, green seedlings to take home. These plants are priced higher than those in big box stores, but they are worth it. They have been acclimated to the local conditions, outside of cozy greenhouses with built in sprinklers. They will settle well in your Rocky Mountain backyard.

I went to them to do all the flowers at my wedding, have bought many house plants from them over the course of these three decades, etc but these last three instances will make me never patronize their establishment ever again. 1. I bought their bagged soil for indoor house plants to replenish the soil in all my pots. I even asked them about fungus gnats to which the employee confidently stated, "no, never." Well flash forward about a month, my plants of 20-30 years, are now all infested with fungus gnats. 100% came from Sturtz & Copeland soil and confirmed by taking the back outside for day, stirring up the soil contained within and watching the adult gnats swarm. So now I'm battling fungus gnats in every single house plant of mine. Thanks. 2 I bought a $40 snake plant from them and had them repot it in one of their terra cotta pots before I left the store. When the employee there removed the snake plant from their plastic pot she was shocked to see how over watered it was. Even pointing out to me to never let it get this overwatered, "see how the roots and everything is breaking up and breaking down?" She put forth her best effort to repot it but the stalk bunch was clearly falling apart. I got home about 20 mins later and 2/3rds of the stalks uprooted and fell out of the pot. I called the store immediately and explained what happened. They said there's nothing they can do about it because as soon as the plant leaves the store, there is no more warranty. They said to compost the stalks/clumps that fell out. So I was left with the equivalent of a $12 snake plant size in a pot that is way too big for it. Thanks. 3. A friend of mine gifted me a 4" waffle plant, purchased from Sturtz & Copeland. It thrived for months. However it was clearly time to have it repotted. I brought it in to Sturtz & Copeland to size up one of their gray terra cotta pots that I like. The employee there said they'd repot it for free since the plant originally came from them and I'm buying their pot. A week later the plant has lost all its leaves and it completely dead. I called with no hope or expectation of resolution and that's exactly what I got. I tried to continue to love this store since their move but it's not the same. The fact that I'm now battling a massive fungus gnat infestation alone is enough of a put off for me. Combine it with the other two instances and I am confidently never shopping here again.

It was my first time hearing about them. We decided to go check out the 15th Annual Growing Gardens Community Plant Sale. For 2015 the dates at May 2-3, 9-10, 16-17. The times are from 8am-4pm. We showed up to the Growing Gardens Greenhouse on 1630 Hawthorne Ave in Boulder and it was packed full of people! There were signs pointing us to the greenhouse (which was great since it is in a neighborhood and didn't quite look right!). There were folks outside assisting with parking and we were able to park close by. Once inside we found a selection of annuals, perennials and harvesting crops. We were delighted to find everything we wanted to plant in our new raised beds. We found a wide variety of fruit and vegetables. We went home with 2 raspberry bushes ($15), multiple lettuces (they have a ton of options), hot peppers, sweet peppers, zucchini, yellow squash, tomatoes, multiple herbs, green pole beans, eggplant... We spent nearly $200 but got a couple boxes full of plants! They were sadly out of blueberry bushes when we got there. Maybe they will be there in the next couple weekends? I am not sure if they grow more plants elsewhere, but if not you will want to go early! Overall, I like that I am supporting a Colorado organization. The plants were reasonably priced and in great condition. The volunteers/employees were helpful and (some not others) were knowledgable.
