We just had a wonderful time roaming the beautiful, quality trees here. Our daughter got to have her first experience meeting the kindest Santa, and she's still gushing. One of the owners, Shannon, took time to explain the difference between the trees, and we invested in a live tree for our family for years to come. He helped us find the perfect tree within our price range. He was very knowledgeable about each tree and was able to explain the cost--the reasons some cost more than others. This is our fourth year buying our tree from Creekside. Today was sunny and relatively warm, but other years it was freezing cold and very slushy. No matter the weather, the folks at Creekside are friendly and helpful and the trees are always fresh and gorgeous. The most magical Christmas lot! We drove from denver to get our tree and it was worth x 10! The lot itself has pretty bistro light, candy canes, and a variety of Christmas trees. But what makes it is Santa! No line and Santa chatted with my girls and took plenty of photos. There was also a little Elf that played with my girls by hiding in the trees. Pretty family owned business, good customer service. **Break*** This is why I am rating this place so low. YOU DO NOT CUT YOUR OWN TREE DOWN. the trees are already cut down and then they dig a hole and plunge it inside the ground. Also the trees are extremely overpriced. Our overall experience was not what we expected/ read on their site. We drove 2.5 hours for nothing. If you need to get a permit in CO.. they are $8 and then look around for a location or call the USDA Forest Service for a location near you. read more

So happy I happened upon Creekside tree nursery! They also carry all sorts of landscaping plants. We lost a few plants this year, shrubs and bushes. I reached out to Creekside via email I sent them photographs of the location where I needed the shrubs to go and what criteria I was looking for. Fragrant flowering bushes/shrubs. I got an email back confirming the details of the location for the plans for Live, along with suggested shrubs that could thrive in this environment. This worked perfectly! I'm so glad I found this company! Then a few weeks later, completely out of the blue my uncle sent a photo of a beautiful plant growing and blooming over his fence, no one knew what this plant was, not even. This was the most disappointing Christmas Tree experience I've ever gone too. My family and I moved from Pennsylvania to Colorado and we were so excited to continue our tradition of cutting down our family Christmas tree. Ya know, Griswold style. So we found this place, Creekside Tree Nursery, which seemed great online! So my family and I piled into the car and drove an hour from Lakewood to Boulder to visit Creekside. When we arrived, we weren't greeted by anyone, or asked if we needed help. So we just started walking around, looking for the cut your own trees. We found the "Creekside Tree Forrest" which was no more than a few 5 foot trees that were WAAAAY over priced. I cannot fathom paying $175 for a tree that isn't taller than my 9 year old daughter. This review is for Creekside Tree Nursery and their "Cut Your Own Christmas Tree Experience", in Niwot, and does not relate to the location in Boulder. I just didn't see a listing for the Boulder location so am writing my review here. First of all... save a trip, and save your money, and DON'T go to the Creekside Tree Nursery in Niwot for your Christmas tree! They claim they have an "experience" of cutting your own tree, but my family and I showed up to find that all they had were about 10 trees that had been previously cut and then "planted" in an empty field. That was disappointing enough, but then we looked at the price of the trees and just about DIED! The trees were all priced well over $100, some into the $150-$250 range. For what??? A half-dead tree planted in a field? I was amazed to actually see people carting trees off this lot. Honestly, you could buy the same tree at any lot for half the price they were charging. The entire "experience" was a joke. Next year we plan on just hiking into the forest and getting a tree. What a waste of time this was! Never again. :( read more

The impression we got when reviewing Creekside Tree Nursery for buying a xmas tree was that they were a better/smarter choice than the 'pop-up' xmas tree lots around town because their trees were cut fresher than the others and would last through the new year. Doesn't look like this will be true. We visited the Niwot lot this past weekend, looking forward to a quaint tree lot experience. What we got was a pretty pathetic roadside lot - pretty similar to the 'pop-up' lots we would have encountered in Denver. We had initially wanted to do the 'cut your own' experience because the kids would like it. Yes, we understood that the tree were pre-cut and were essentially placed in the ground for you to 'cut'. But when we got there, there were probably 30 trees scattered in the field, all 4' or less (even though the tags said 6'-7'!!). So we gave that idea up and browsed the pre-cut lot. Holy crap were these trees expensive!! $150 for a 6' douglas fir! Okay - we thought maybe we were getting a better deal because they touted that the trees were fresher and would last longer. So we ended up with a slightly less desirable tree for $115 (!!!), and took it home. So it is 2 days later, and a crap loud of needles are on the floor. The water level in the tree stand has barely dropped. The tree is pretty much dead and not taking in any water. What a waste of money/time driving to this place to get a tree that we could have gotten at the local lot for half the price. Don't waste you time or money visiting Creekside Nursery for xmas trees! read more

This place is a must-go for locals. They are very knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, and the nursery is well stocked. I really prefer to buy shrubs and trees that are growing and thriving in my area, so that I feel they might be just as successful in my own yard. Kendall did a great job of making suggestions and helping me keep within my budget and within my comfort zone of my very minimal landscape skills. We've been back three times to add to our yard work. I've been impressed each time. So far, all of our shrubs and trees are healthy and they look great. We planted everything in short order with their expertise and advice. Thank you! read more

We bought a Christmas tree from this nursery that ended up being bone dry, absorbing no water at all. After having spent almost $100 on our tree we were disappointed. Creekside would only give us a 50% off from the original and insisted that it was our fault because we live 15 minutes from the place we bought the tree. I wouldn't do business with this company again. read more

Bought 11 trees from Creekside. Total bill including delivery and planting was over $7000. One died and they offered me a $145 credit as compensation. They said their guarantee was for 50% of the plant cost. Now two more trees look like they won't make it. So the bottom line is that the three trees that cost $2100 are only valued at $435 when they die. Creekside planted the trees so I presume they were planted correctly and we cared for them exactly as we were told to. My suggestion is to factor that in when you decide if their prices are competitive and also if their product is good quality. Seems a little unfair to me, but if you're good with that policy, they do have a good selection. read more

I bought 3 of 12 trees I planted last year from Creekside. The pear I planted immediately showed sign of blight. The cherry planted died this winter. The peach survived but no blooms like all the other 9 trees I planted from another vendor which thrived. Creekside has a terrible return policy of one year at 50% cost for replacement which might not be so bad but Creekside is also very, very expensive. Too...adding to injury, when we purchased the trees we spend easily 30 minutes wandering their elaborate grounds before I searched someone out to help. Before trying to replace these dead trees, I already would not be doing business with them. read more

I had some initial issues with the tree but they came out and answered my questions.

Three out of three trees died. We planted three fruit trees in April, set up automatic watering, and none of them ever leafed out. It was a hard spring of variable weather, but even so, I'd expect better than 0/3 survival ratio. Moreover, Creekside's customer service has been terrible. We included Creekside gift certificates on our wedding registry, but unfortunately Creekside was unable to keep track of who purchased gift certificates, or even whether gift certificates had been purchased. They were incredibly disorganized and unhelpful in looking up information for us. I'd suggest going to Harlequin's for your trees - they're much more helpful, friendly, and all around a nicer place to do business! And the fruit tree we bought from them survived the same hard spring! read more

Yikes! We usually get our own tree up in the mountains, but didn't get a permit in time this year. We headed to Creekside as I read they had a really good selection. The staff were friendly and keen to help, but we actually laughed out loud when we started looking at the prices - they are astronomical. I am fascinated to know how they sell their inventory and avoid having a bunch of trees go to waste every year because they've priced people out. Pricing depends on the species, but the 7' tall and scraggly tree we liked was $130, and that was one of the friendlier options. If you tend to like a fuller tree, prices were $175+. They did have little trees (4' tall) for $45, if you are looking for children's trees. I was expecting to be able to get a "Charlie Brown" tree for about $75-80 (that's about what we paid in NYC all the years we were there..), but we walked away totally bewildered that the prices were so absurd. read more

A family operated Nursery that sells, delivers and plants trees that are larger than the average nursery. The costs are somewhat higher but the quality of the trees and friendliness make up for the difference. Recently I had an issue with a tree I bought and Jason who owns Creekside came out personally to review the situation and determined he would replace the tree at no cost to me. So if you are in the market for larger, higher end trees Creekside will fulfill your wishes. I plan to buy several more trees from Creekside this fall. read more

What a great place to get our Christmas tree! This place is a must for anyone who lives in Boulder or the surrounding areas. The property is picturesque and a lovely place to feel the holiday spirit. We met and chatted with one of the owners, Grant. He was so friendly and went out of his way to help us find our perfect tree. We really enjoyed the fabulous customer service from all of the employees. From offering to take our picture for us to cutting, wrapping and tying the tree to our roof (before we even knew it) they were happy to help. We'll be sure to go here every year from now on for our Christmas Tree! read more

I've been slowly landscaping my own backyard for a year and a half now (from a mound of dirt) and have scouted out many nurseries around town for both price and quality. I can tell you this is a goldmine for trees! They have the best prices and the best quality trees. You can get much larger caliper sizes here for half the price you pay at other places. I've purchased 3 trees from them now and all are doing great, even with my horrible clay soil and climate 5 conditions. They really take care of their trees and all of the staff is very knowledgeable. I've heard that some people visit just to walk and enjoy the many isles of trees and I can relate-it's very pretty! They have all size varieties even up to very mature trees which helps me be able to plan out what a smaller tree will grow to be in my own space. They are a family owned business and I'd love to see them succeed just due to their honesty, quality, and value which is hard to come by these days. This place is a hidden gem. read more

This place has a huge selection of large trees and shrubs. Everyone is very helpful and more than willing to spend the time helping me when I'm there. I especially like their selection of harvested aspens. I've purchased several now and they are growing perfectly in my yard. They are priced really well and the staff here packs them into my Jeep so I don't have to pay delivery charges. I got my first Christmas tree here last year too and they were just as helpful. The Niwot location offers excellent front range backdrops for holiday photos. Service is excellent: they trim/bag the tree, load onto your car for you, and tie it down if requested. Creekside Tree Nursery is only place I found in the Front Range area who provide the Cut-Your-Own tree experience (at the Niwot location only). The WORST experience I have ever had making a purchase in my life! I picked out a tree with one of the nursery employees, he tagged the tree and we went back to the office where he gave me a verbal quote with the owner Jason present. He pulled up the account of the landscaping company that I setup to do the install and gave me the total price including tax. I let them know that the landscaping company would pick the tree up in a couple days and pay for it at that time. The person who picked up the tree was charged $165 more than the price I was quoted. In my absence the tree was installed, same day. After receiving the receipt the next day from the landscaping company, I called the nursery, explained the situation to Jason the owner and he would not stand by the quote or even try to work with me on resolving this issue. His excuse was that I must have chosen a more expensive tree by mistake. I said, that's impossible, your employee tagged the tree with my name on it and gave me the quote. How much clearer could it be! This is Absolutely Unbelievable! I will never do business with Creekside Tree Nursery ever again. read more

Horrible warranty - lousy service. Last summer, I spent two hours picking out seven trees. Only after I got inside, filled out all paperwork, only at that time they told me that they wouldn't be able to deliver my trees for 7 weeks which would then be the hottest, driest part of the summer. I was really disappointed they didn't share this information with me before I spent over two hours picking out trees. They told me - don't worry - there is a warranty if the trees don't live. I foolishly decided to proceed. They did install the trees as planned - at a cost of approx. $4,000 for seven trees you would expect better service. Now forward to this year - one of the seven trees they installed did not survive despite all of their assurances. In addition to the cost of the trees, I had a very high cost of water because the trees were planted mid-July and they advised me to water daily which I did. I called on the warranty. It turns out now, despite their assurances of a full warranty, they will only give me a 50% off towards a new tree and nothing towards installation or removal of the old one. Plus, I now need to dig a dead tree out of my yard or pay them another $500 for installation of a new one. So, basically, for this one tree, I spent $800 for the tree plus the cost of watering it all summer. What I ended up with is a dead tree that now needs to be dug out. They offered me a $100 credit toward a a new tree that I have to pay another $500 for installation. So,basically there is no warranty and I'm out hundreds of dollars. Don't use these guys - they are overpriced, take literally months to deliver the trees and don't stand behind their work. read more
