    Friendly Santa
    Jessica H.

The most magical Christmas lot! We drove from denver to get our tree and it was worth x 10! The lot itself has pretty bistro light, candy canes, and a variety of Christmas trees. But what makes it is Santa! No line and Santa chatted with my girls and took plenty of photos. There was also a little Elf that played with my girls by hiding in the trees. This family owned business definitely has that lovely personal touch and we will be back!

This was the most disappointing Christmas Tree experience I've ever gone too. My family and I moved from Pennsylvania to Colorado and we were so excited to continue our tradition of cutting down our family Christmas tree. Ya know, Griswold style. So we found this place, Creekside Tree Nursery, which seemed great online! So my family and I piled into the car and drove an hour from Lakewood to Boulder to visit Creekside. When we arrived, we weren't greeted by anyone, or asked if we needed help. So we just started walking around, looking for the cut your own trees. We found the "Creekside Tree Forrest" which was no more than a few 5 foot trees that were WAAAAY over priced. I cannot fathom paying $175 for a tree that isn't taller than my 9 year old daughter. We will not be coming

Thanks to Grant for the amazing experience and taking the time with our family! Can not wait to check out the other location next year! You guys rock! No better 'tree' family around! ;)

We planted the flowers after they sat for a few days and they're growing like crazy! The staff was super helpful while we were shopping, helping us find stuff and get a box to take the plants home safely. Not a huge shop but so many plants from flowers to trees. There were seeds all on the wall inside with the gardening supplies. They had a few items that would be good for gifts, they have some art, books, kitchen items, and house plants (succulents, jades, etc...). They have a cute shop with good quality product, kind staff and good value. Would recommend for plant people!

The plants don't look their best in the spring because they are dormant. So a beginner would likely dismiss these as dead plants for sale. But long-time Rocky Mountain gardeners know these dry-looking tufts will wake up and grow into healthy plants by late spring or early summer. I've bought many of my starter native plants here and they have matured and multiplied through the years. However, beginners can get lots of help and advice from staff. You need to overcome the expectation of wanting lush, green seedlings to take home. These plants are priced higher than those in big box stores, but they are worth it. They have been acclimated to the local conditions, outside of cozy greenhouses with built in sprinklers. They will settle well in your Rocky Mountain backyard.

We were a while back and picked a sturdy bigger pot of something else that was more hardy than new grown zinnias and just the one pot so we could keep in in the timer mower shed in the yard until a good weather stretch for planting. We saw Zinnias but Kerry and we decided we would let them cover and protect until after the freeze and possible snow. He knew the risk ms and we sure did too having been in Boulder 52 years. We went back today, a gorgeous spring day of a holiday weekend and purchase a whole flat. A woman helped us find the right variety and took us to the extra pay stations set up. We came home and planted immediately into the already prepared raid garden container that we had put in last fall when the tree in that location was removed for wildfire mitigation we need around here. Since it's hard to get good froth of anything immediately above a stump, even one ground down at least 8" , it seemed a perfect spot for a raised container garden. If all goes well and none of the wildlife in west Boulder eat my plants, I'll post an update when they bloom.

They sell veggie, flower and a great selection of native plant seedlings. Show up early though. The line to get in forms 10 minutes before the sale opens. Service is friendly and prompt. And while the seedlings are pricier that those in big box stores, you do get the value that you pay for. Tip: if you're getting lots of seedlings, bring your own high-sided plastic or wooden tray. The little pots tend to flop around in the small cardboard trays that they send you home with and you'll get soil all over your car. Cardboard is not ideal because some of the plants may be damp underneath and this composty liquid could seep through to your carpet.

It was my first time hearing about them. We decided to go check out the 15th Annual Growing Gardens Community Plant Sale. For 2015 the dates at May 2-3, 9-10, 16-17. The times are from 8am-4pm. We showed up to the Growing Gardens Greenhouse on 1630 Hawthorne Ave in Boulder and it was packed full of people! There were signs pointing us to the greenhouse (which was great since it is in a neighborhood and didn't quite look right!). There were folks outside assisting with parking and we were able to park close by. Once inside we found a selection of annuals, perennials and harvesting crops. We were delighted to find everything we wanted to plant in our new raised beds. We found a wide variety of fruit and vegetables. We went home with 2 raspberry bushes ($15), multiple lettuces (they have a ton of options), hot peppers, sweet peppers, zucchini, yellow squash, tomatoes, multiple herbs, green pole beans, eggplant... We spent nearly $200 but got a couple boxes full of plants! They were sadly out of blueberry bushes when we got there. Maybe they will be there in the next couple weekends? I am not sure if they grow more plants elsewhere, but if not you will want to go early! Overall, I like that I am supporting a Colorado organization. The plants were reasonably priced and in great condition. The volunteers/employees were helpful and (some not others) were knowledgable. It was a fun way to spend our morning and we got a bunch of great plants! If our crop does well, I plan on going to Growing Gardens again next year!
