Fitting appointment went well, but they sold me a pair of $111 pointe shoes that were dirty on both bottom soles, had a black stain on the satin and scuffs on the platform. I understand they're all tried on, but when I expressed concern the owner snapped back about HER profitability. No response when I emailed them about this. They're selling the same pair on eBay for $39! To think they could have discounted the shoes for me due to excessive shop-worn condition upsets me. I only got $11 off, same as every single new customer, and wish I'd asked for a better pair or that THEY OFFERED. What a disappointing visit to this store and unfortunate customer service from the owner. We'll never buy from here again or recommend it. read more

CHECK YOUR DANCE SHOES BEFORE BUYING THEM!!! My daughter did not have a great experience during her first time point shoes fitting at this place. They sold us an expensive pair of ballet shoes with one of them already broken. We should have checked them but we did not. The manager refused to exchange the broken one with a new one and believed her employee who did not check the shoes instead of her client. Why would we do that, really? Plus I purchased lots of items plus the point shoes. So we are very disappointed and this place has just lost a customer. read more

The pointe shoe fitting team at BBW, is too notch and willing to listen to what kind of fit my dancers should have. they work with me to help dancers with a difficult fit. I have been sending my dancers to see Amy for as long as she has been open, I highly recommend them. Christina Noel, Dance Coordinator at the Arvada Center read more

So what if I love spandex? I love wearing tight spandex whenever I can because it keeps things tucked in and pulled up... aka, my tushi ends up looking better and nobody ever copies my style. Boulder Body Wear is a little hidden, but a little hidden gem at that... From ballet shoes to tap shoes, and even a little fake ballet bar and mirror with a wood floor to really test out the dance shoes you try on. The best thing about the store is the cute selection of street clothes. Every time I go in the store or bring anybody in with me, we are always impressed with the clothing selection... Whoever is doing the buying is doing a great job because there are cute and eccentric tops, bottoms, and skirts... Similar to maybe what you might see in an Anthropology / Speedo store... (Hey, to some, that is one hot sexy hippie.) The store is stuffed with frilly little dance key chains, sports bras, dance shoes, yoga gear and attire, dance and workout gear and somehow I am remembering bathing suits.... You can also pick up taps for your tap shoes, and ballet slipper hair pins... You know, cheesy things along that line! Rock on... So, really this is a store for all ages, but luckily the cute street clothes are placed right at the front so, pull into the free parking and sashe your way into 10 minutes of quick painless shopping.... * Star one is for a locally owned dance-based store ** Shuffle star two is for awesome street clothes in addition to the huge selection of dance and yoga gear for all ages ***Arabasque star three is for a pretend dance floor, so that I can pretend that I am so good and dance that I can start jamming right there and then... What? I'm not that bad at break-dancing **** Sun Salutation star four is for supplying clothes that make you want to embrace the arts and rock out... go leotards go! Dogma star five was lost to somewhat off and on staff... I can't really tell what kind of mood they are in... But it certainly does not keep me away! read more

Boulder Body Wear - Dance Wear Near Me - Lafayette, Colorado

We have been visiting BoulderBody for six years, and Amy and her kind and knowledgeable staffers really are the best. We know we'll always be taken care of as soon as we step inside. They have all the staples and a lovely selection of unique leos, workout wear, warm-up gear, and accessories... and their prices are often better than big far-away places online. Thinking back, Amy fit both my dancers for their first pair of wee little slippers and years later for their first pair of pointe shoes... that's pretty special. Robin and Steph (and Ms Jamie!) have always been amazing too. More recently, my younger daughter had a growth spurt, and all of a sudden the pointe shoes she'd worn no longer worked for her in the next size up. Rebeca had us come in and patiently had my dancer try quite a few pairs until they found *them.* She has worn all the brands and many styles herself, so she knew exactly what my daughter meant when she gave feedback. They could commiserate and she was determined not to send my dancer home with a pair that just "sort of" worked...Rebeca made it a fun experience, and my daughter will always be grateful the extra care she gave her. It's just another reason we love BoulderBody! read more

My granddaughter needed some ballet and tap shoes fast, so I looked online for a close store. . I simply don't like to buy shoes online..too risky in my book. The lady was very nice to my granddaughter, She helped her get the perfect pairs. When I left I was very happy with my experience as was she. Prices were reasonable. I didn't give a 5 because it really has to be exceptional.. Cute stuff read more

They have a really cute selection, I'll give you that. But the staff seems rather moody. Sometimes they are nice, but sometimes they seem standoffish. I don't know, it's a mystery! They clothing is cute, and the selection of toddler/young child dance attire is a real treat. I will probably keep going because of that... and because they send out coupons in the mail. I find a lot of stores in the Boulder area have trouble with moody staff. Go figure. Also, they don't let you use their bathroom. You have to trudge over to the Boulder Marriot. If you ask me, a store that has a nice changing area to try on all their clothes should also have a place to pee if you need to for pete's sake! read more

I drove all the way from Wheat Ridge on the advise of a friend to purchase dance shoes. I am so glad I did as their selection and price was MUCH better than any of the Denver stores I looked at. Great store and great service read more

Amy, the owner, goes above and beyond to meet your needs. My daughter wears a "Grishko Proflex," a brand not normally stocked at their store, and yet they were willing to try on other shoes or order the "Proflex" for us. She and her staff are knowledgeable and kind (sans ego). And you do not feel pressure to purchase anything you try on. In addition, their pricing is competitive. I should mention, we live in South Denver and we travel a long distance for their service and delightful attitude. Moreover, there is great hiking and wonderful restaurants close by. We love Boulder Body Wear! ;) read more

SALESLADY SCREAMED IN MY TODDLER'S FACE. (I wish there were a zero or negative stars option.) I have shopped at Boulder Bodywear for the past year for my toddler daughter who is in love with ballet and takes classes. I have never had much of an opinion either way until today. For the past year I have thought the staff was just okay - not super helpful but not bad either. They are close to the Dairy Center and really the only place in Boulder to find toddler ballet clothes, which are marked up quite a bit, but nice to be able to try on before buying. Today I had such a sad experience there. My toddler daughter wanted to try on little slippers that the saleslady suggested. My daughter is just days past being two. She is newly three and of course wants to do everything by herself. She was struggling to open the ballet slippers and getting frustrated. I kneeled down to help her and of course she gave me the classic toddler response of "Mine!" What happened next was absolutely horrifying. The saleslady came over to us, bent down, and snatched the slippers from my daughter's hands and screamed into my daughter's face, "No! It's mine!" The saleslady literally tore the ballet slippers from the hands of and screamed in the face of a barely-3-year-old. My daughter burst into tears. The saleslady saw her crying and rolled her eyes toward her. Then the saleslady stuck the slippers in our bag and charged me for them. It happened 6 hours ago, and my daughter is still crying about it and saying she doesn't want to dance anymore. I called the store owner to tell her what happened and her response was to bring the slippers back for a refund. She offered a quick apology but then negated it by saying the saleslady certainly didn't intend to hurt my daughter. I told her that the saleslady saw her burst into tears and rolled her eyes at her. The owner just repeated to me to bring back the slippers. I told her I couldn't even go into the store again. What a horrible experience! And what a sad response. Not even a sincere apology. I think the clothes in the store are cute and, again, it's nice to be able to try on the kids' leotards and shoes instead of guessing at sizes online, BUT this saleslady snatched slippers from a 3-year-old's hands, yelled at her "No! Mine!" and then charged me for the slippers! She wouldn't let my daughter try them on, screamed at her, and then sold them to us. So they weren't the saleslady's. And there is never a need to scream in a baby's face. Or to make her cry. Or to scoff at a crying child. I am absolutely horrified at the people who run this store. I won't ever shop here again. Ever. And I hope to God that someday my baby girl will want to dance again. read more

I was looking for tap shoes for my daughter. I looked online and saw several bad reviews but didn't have many options because I needed them quick. I went in and was pleasantly surprised. I was greeted kindly, given many options to try and figure out the best shoe for my daughter, The shoes were on sale and at check out I was told I could bring them in and exchange them if they didn't fit my daughter. I will definitely be going back. read more

Excellent customer service! Took my daughter today to get her first pair of Pointe shoes, employee Sophie P treated my daughter with care and patience. Sophie was absolutely wonderful. I appreciate that Sophie took time to teach my daughter about the basics of caring for her Pointe shoes and the attention she gave in helping her to choose a pair of shoes that were the most comfortable and an accurate fit. I highly recommend BBW! Sophie, thank you for adding an extra dose of joy to my daughter's special day. read more

Very kind and patient nice people to be around got to go t oh get pointe shoes they ordered them and were very mice

Don't ever order online from this place. They don't accept returns and are a total rip off on shipping and when you exchange something for another item of a lesser value that amount isn't credited to your shipping charges. They suck! read more

I love Amy and all of her employees are kind and helpful. I have purchased many different styles of shoes including pointe shoes from her. I highly recommend them for pointe shoe fitting as they have a very good selection and are very experienced at fitting shoes. I had a bad experience from another fitter who fit me in some Russian shoes that didn't fit right but I've always had a good fit with Amy. My only complaint (hence the 4 vs 5 stars) is that my feet are extremely narrow and they don't carry narrow widths to try on many of their styles of pointe shoes so my options without taking a chance and special ordering are limited. That being said I still love to support this local business whenever possible. read more

My experience with this place has been fabulous to date. I had my first pointe shoe fitting back in Oct 2012 and was extremely pleased with the service I received. Each time I need a new pair I simply setup an appointment and they check to make sure the fitting my old pair is correct. I've now ordered 3 pairs of shoes from them and will continue to order from them in the future. It nice to have access to a ballet shop that can meet my needs. read more

I had a very good experience getting ballet shoes fitted. Salesperson brought out two pair to try first and then another few pairs to make sure I had what I wanted. I bought a pair of Bloch split sole canvas slippers and was given a discount for being a student at Colorado Conservatory. The clothes looked very cute but I didn't buy any today. Service was great. read more

I've been taking my daughter to BBW for many years now and this place is fabulous! I never encountered "moody staff" or anything like that. I have no idea what that person is talking about. We get excellent discounts because my daughter dances at a local studio. She absolutely loves the place. I always enjoy going to BBW - and I'm a guy!! read more

Came in to this store looking for pointe shoes. I used to be a ballerina for 23 years, and just wanted to keep practicing at home. The lady in the store approached me and I nicely told her what I wanted and she answered "pointe shoes have to be customized". No invitation to come in, no suggestion to set up an appointment. And off she went, just plain rude and careless. My suggestion: customer care etiquette. Google it. read more

Boulder Body wear is our go to for all things dance. They always take time to let my girls try on shoes and make sure like what they are getting. Their prices for dance shoes are reasonable and competitive with online prices. They have a great selection of dance apparel as well, it is priced a little high but they are high quality. You get what you pay for! Make sure to check out the sale baskets on the floor for some great items. We make the drive from Arvada because it's worth it. read more

I wish there was a negative star I could give! No one will believe what we experienced at this store. I took my three daughters there to shop for tap shoes and the female employees assisted us in our selection by bringing out the sizes we asked for, not having the size for one of my daughters. My girls tried on one pair each, the employee brought out only three pair. Anyway while in the store, my daughter got on line and observed the same exact shoe (brand and style) for $40.00 cheaper. She mentioned it out loud and the employee said "oh I should tell you if you do not purchase the shoes I will have to charge you ten dollar sizing fee" Of course there were no signs stating they had such a fee. I've never heard of such a thing in my shopping life. They made me pay! My husband later said I should have walked out because they could NOT make me pay. He is going to report them to the Boulder District Attorney. read more

I came in looking for salsa shoes. The attendant (I think her first name started with a K) was really rude. She first asked me if I've ever walked in heels and then showed me a few low heel pairs. I didn't said I didn't like them and she seemed to get offended and asked if I could be more descriptive about my style. I said, simple, black, not sparkly, and she showed me another pair and I still didn't like it. She then still continued to berate me for not describing exactly what style I would like. I've never bought salsa shoes before, and I'm not a fashion student so...I didn't really know how else to describe! All she could have done was walk me around to see the options. I found a cute pair and got a nice discount for taking classes at Avalon, but I was so close to walking out. After I decided to get the shoes, she completely ignored me, didn't say thank you for coming in, nothing. The other person working there was friendly, but overall the store really needs to work on their customer service. read more

I'm sorry to have to leave a bad review. I was just turned away as a customer. I knew what I needed and offered to leave cash but "their computers were shut down already". Yelp's website says they are open until 7 and I walked in a couple of minutes after 6 and was told to go to Target for the items I wanted to purchase. Really?! I am a small business owner as well and I shop locally and at other small businesses whenever possible. Terrible customer service! They don't deserve any stars but I have to leave one. read more

The service in the store is simply "THE BEST". I bought a pair of dance shoes there over a year ago. They went into storage when I moved away for a while and when I returned and tried them on again, one shoe was quite a bit smaller than the other although they were marked the same size. After all of that time, they still took them back and let me pick out another pair. They were curtious, understanding and went above and beyond to help me. They also have the cutest sellection of yoga and streetwear. Couldn't recommend this store more! read more

I never leave reviews but the staff here were very rude today. My young daughter was being sized for new ballet slippers and tap shoes today. She was very excited to try them on the little dance floor in the sizing area but before she got her shoes the staff told us they needed us to move to the back of the store (a little chair by the dressing rooms) because they had a group of tween girls come in for shoes. Has anyone even heard of patience or customer service? We moved because we figured our daughter would be upset if we didn't get new shoes since her old ones are too small and she loves dance. In hindsight, we should have just left. Our daughter may be young but even she felt slighted and is no longer excited about her new shoes. Boulder Body Wear, please treat people with respect. You are over priced but we came there anyway, now you have lost us as a customer for life. Shame on you! Even little dancers deserve your time and respect. read more

You can find not just the cutest fit wear for working out, but they carry the kind of clothing I enjoy wearing. Comfort wear with style!

I'm a bit sad that I have to write this review. I came in today to pick up some nude fishnets, and bought them, because this is one of the few places in the state that carries them. My color of nude is "caramel". I asked to see the next darkest shade, taking into account that I was going to be getting a spray tan. They only carry two colors. "Caramel" and black. Like, actual black. I am sorry that I need to remind you that a nude fishnet made for a white person will not work for a person of color. I'm sorry that I need to remind you that there are little girls and grown women that are amazingly talented dancers that happen to have dark skin. "Carmel" is not "nude" for everyone. I had this conversation with you a few years back and you fixed the problem. I sent everyone to you for those fishnets that are required for our job. Now, I see you have made it clear that you have a very specific customer base. It now appears as though that's based on personal preference and careful tailoring. Eight years I have purchased from you. Never again. I don't do business with racists. read more
