    Cute crab bread
    Jessica L.

Such a wonderful cute place to go! I loved the selection of bread and there's something cute for everyone! The bears and turkeys and crabs were incredible! Everything was delicious and I got an aloe water to go with my bread. Very clean and the service was friendly! Loved it here

Ordered through Grubhub as I know the place gets pretty packed. I'd recommend using DoorDash or ubereats instead because the prices slightly differ and it's the most expensive through Grubhub...there's also more salad options for the combo through the other food delivery apps. I ordered the soup and salad combo which came to 23 dollars before tax and tip. I always love their clam chowder in a bread bowl. I got the classic Caesar on the side. Super hearty soup and fresh salad.

A San Francisco staple----clam chowder in a bread bowl. The best is always from Boudin Bakery. This was my first stop when I arrived at the wharf. Although the cafe was busy, the line moves fast and if you are ordering clam chowder they have an assembly line of staff pumping out your order with the quickness. It was a rainy day so clam chowder hit the spot, bread was so soft. Tear off part of the bread bowl and dunk it in the chowder. It was soooo delicious. Restaurant is super busy and noisy but not one that you are hanging out. They have tons of other items including more sandwiches but also a section for breads and pastries. Great place for a nice quick lunch.

After many visits to SF and never trying one of their famous bread bowls, we finally stopped by for lunch to try their Crab Bisque. Super rich and creamy, it was perfect with the cold weather outside. Wasn't that crowded during our visit, which I was very surprised about. We were able to order right away and got out food in about 10 minutes. One of the perks of visiting in the off-season. I can only imagine how busy they get in the summer, though. Good seating options. Good choice for some tasty chowder.

Boudin Bakery & Cafe is a true San Francisco tradition! It was founded in 1849 by Isidore Boudin, a French immigrant from a family of master bakers in Burgundy. It is San Francisco's oldest continuously operating business, 172 years and counting! They have several locations around the Bay Area, and I happen to live within walking distance of two of them. The one on 160 Jefferson Street is my favorite spot. It opened its doors in 2005, about ten years after I moved to San Francisco, and I became an instant fan! My little four-legged furry friend and I often walk along Jefferson Street! Often, we stop at this Boudin location for a hot chocolate, coffee, or a quick bite, whether it's a fresh-baked muffin or a Raspberry Almond Shortbread Bar in the morning, or their signature Clam Chowder in a sourdough bread bowl later in the day. We always walk away happy and satisfied. I am told that this is their flagship location, and I am not surprised. It is a large space that includes a cafe and bakery on the first floor and a bistro (full-service restaurant) on the second floor.

I have to say, for such a touristy location in Fisherman's Wharf, I was impressed with our delicious meal. The service was fantastic -- a true team effort from the servers. We ordered the Crab Louie salad, which was beautifully presented but felt deconstructed. I would have loved it tossed together, but it was pretty and we didn't mind putting in the work. lol. We also shared the cheesy garlic bread (which we probably didn't need since they brought warm sourdough with butter). The views of the bay are wonderful, and there's even a museum inside on the second floor about the history of sourdough in San Francisco -- such a great experience!

Although we missed Sunday's community event in honor of Claude's memorial [[Claude Forever: A Celebration of Life]], my family and I took the opportunity of spending our extra day off in the city. My toddler specifically requested to see and purchase a miniature version of Boudin's Claude the albino alligator loaf. Kudos to Boudin Bakery and master baker, Fernando Padilla, for taking the time to create something so beautiful, unique, and very very CLAUDE. The 8 foot long loaf took a whopping 70lbs of dough to create and even came equipped with red maraschino cherry eyes to match. The world's largest sourdough alligator couldn't have been more perfect!! Rest easy, Claude, you are absolutely missed! 5/5 stars, this drive was absolutely worth doing.

Boudin is one of my favorite spots to eat in the city. No matter the weather, the restaurant always has beautiful views of Fisherman's Wharf. We came in hungry and were very happy that our servers consistently came to take our orders. I was especially impressed with the caesar salad, the dressing and fresh crunchy romaine lettuce really hit the spot. The bread and butter was exactly what we needed: whipped butter and fresh sourdough. Delicious!! We then enjoyed our main courses. The fries were perfectly crispy, the ribs were tasty, and the pasta was delicious. No notes, we loved our meal.

I got a chocolate chip cookie ($3.19). I like chocolate chip cookies, and this one had an interesting balance--one half was a little sweeter, while the other half was not too sweet at all. Overall, I enjoyed the cookie.

Overall great experience at Boudin! For being in a touristy area, the prices were affordable, the service was speedy and the food was great! The vibe is restaurant rant is open concept and seat-yourself. The sourdough itself is moist, warm and fresh. Absolutely loved the crab-shaped sourdough loaf we got. It was super cute and delicious! The beef chili in the bread bowl was hearty and a great portion, while the grilled cheese with bacon was savory and delicious. Definitely will be coming back to Boudin Bakery Cafe

FYI the prices here are 45% higher than other Boudin locations around the city, such as Union Square, plus an additional 4% "employee surcharge."

The sourdough pizza is incredible! We got the pepperoni and were very pleased. Somehow you could taste the sour dough, sauce, cheese, and pepperoni all at the same time because everything was so perfectly balanced. The crust so thin and crispy. We also got a tomato and basil soup in a bread bowl. I was very happy with the small size option because it gave you plenty of bread and soup and didn't leave you feeling overly stuffed. I'm someone who always appreciates a smaller portion size option though. We didn't have super high expectations since this restaurant is located among the touristy attractions but was happy we stopped in! The staff was very nice and attentive too.

Not too many things I enjoy more than some fresh sourdough bread. I love the atmosphere of Boudin with the bakers preparing bread in front of customers to watch. The smell of the sourdough in the air. Delicious food that is being prepared inside. There's a very good vibe inside as customers order everything from coffee, pastries, sourdough bread, sandwiches, chowders, and so much more. I ended up ordering: Crab Mac n Cheese: this was nice and creamy. They gave a generous portion of crab inside my Mac n cheese. Only negative is that they messed up my order and forgot to add the crab originally, so I had to go back but the manager corrected the mistake right away. Crab Chowder: this is a sweet chowder and tastes good. Great with the sourdough. A must when visiting San Francisco and Fisherman's Wharf.

The first bite was an official confirmation that their pasta is freshly made, the sauce was amazing and the Parmesan was top-notch. When the dish landed, I was initially impressed. But after the first bite, it felt a bit like the Wizard of Oz: impressive presentation hiding something less substantial underneath. Their lasagna is a sort of deconstructionist take on the classic dish. The noodles are cooked and layered almost naked between barely any pockets of filling. There were a few tidbits of meat, maybe sauce and no cheese within the layers themselves. The noodles are then baked, cut, plated, and topped with what I'd guess was about a 6 oz ladle of their bolognese, finished with finely pre-grated parmesan. The first bite was overwhelmingly pasta-forward. It took me a moment to understand how the dish had been assembled against my expectations. Once I cut into it and spread everything out, it became clear this wasn't the kind of lasagna I think of when ordering lasagna. It didn't check the familiar boxes - a rich ragù, maybe a creamy béchamel, or the sharp, salty depth of cheeses layered throughout. The dish lacked the complexity and savory comfort I was craving and expecting. Another miss was the homemade flatbread (which I went back and paid cash for, so it wasn't included in the total). Traditional Italian flatbread is a yeast-free bread made with flour, olive oil or lard, salt, and water or milk, then rolled thin and cooked until crisp yet chewy. This version tasted like flour, lard, and water. It wasn't crisp or chewy. As soon as I started chewing, it turned into an unappetizing doughy mass in my mouth. After the first quarter-piece, I didn't eat anymore. As for everything else, I arrived around 7:15 on a Saturday night, and the inside was packed with a small line to the door. The outdoor tables weren't full, but it was summer in San Francisco, more people were jockeying for seats inside than out. But I wasn't too concerned and I got there around 7, so all that is on me. There were a few specials written on a chalkboard, and the cashier was awesome while explaining those. They were incredibly patient. I apologized for holding up the line, and in a very Italian way, they assured me it was my right to make sure I ordered exactly what I wanted. That interaction honestly stood out as one of the better parts of the experience. I grabbed a table just as one opened up, helped myself to water a few times from the station, and my food arrived in about 20 minutes which wasn't bad considering how busy they were. There's been a bit of internal conflict with this review. I usually don't like judging a restaurant based on a single dish, especially a restaurant with so many positive reviews. But I also don't spend as much time in that part of the city anymore, and there are simply too many other places I still want to try. Unfortunately, while there was some good-looking food on other tables, if a restaurant's claim of lasagna as its signature dish doesn't hold up, the first visit just didn't do enough to pull me back for a second chance.

The burger was fresh, flavorful and clearly made with quality ingredients. It paired perfectly with the crispy fries. The staff were attentive, friendly and service was quick, which made the whole brunch experience even better. Overall, this is a great spot for brunch whether you're a local or visiting the city. I'll definitely be coming back.

Really feels like a hit or miss on the food…read more I have been to Red Window before, at the recommendation of friends, and was surprised to be disappointed by the all the food which came to my table when I dined here before. However, this time I went again with a friend who assured me the food is fantastic and I was a little bit skeptical but it turned out a bit better this time. We ordered a medley of food: the patatas bravas, the flatbread, the albodigas, the crispy paella balls and the crispy cauliflower. I was especially excited for the patatas bravas as I had tasted them before. They were the highlight of my previous time I had dined here. This time was no exception. Exceptionally crispy flaky and fantastic texture with the multiple layers. The crispy paella balls were also excellent, Very flavorful and what a nice slight crunch to their exterior. Unfortunately I was half disappointed by the rest of the food we ordered The flatbread was just alright, and I regretted we didn't do at least one of the add-ons for it as that likely would have improved it a lot. The albondigas were a lot to get through and I'm glad we were sharing the dish. They went well when paired with the other dishes as it was very one-note with getting through each of the meatballs. The crispy cauliflower had good flavor, but surprisingly were far more mushy than crispy. Red Window has a really nice spot on Columbus, great vibe and friendly staff each time I've visited. They have both interior and heated parklet /outdoor seating. However, the food really feels like there's a only a few standouts on the menu and the rest aren't really bringing more to the table. Peek at other reviews before you go to get an idea of the hits on the menu.
