I always go to Bottleworks for my 'I can't get it at the grocery store' beer needs. One thing I really love about this place is the local selection. I love Washington and Oregon beer. My favorite time to come here is in November and December for the winter beer selection. Jolly Roger, Santa's Reserve... anything strong and dark. There is also a great international selection. My husband is Polish so I always pick him up a bottle or two from his homeland. I'd say in a normal grocery store I can usually find at least one Polish beer. Here they have about 5 or so. The first time I came in here I was a little intimidated because although I love beer, I'm by no means an expert. The staff here has never made me feel uncomfortable. Another plus is that they're close to Trophy. So when I actually make it out to Wallingford I try to make it worth it by dropping by Trophy for a few cupcakes and Bottleworks for some beer. It's a great way to cap off the evening. read more

Thirsty for something out of this world? ehm..out of this country? If so, this is your place! Now I'm no beer connoisseur but this place seems to have it all. Not a beer drinker? Buy an Irish beer sample pack for your friend's dinner party ($11). Cheers! read more

Bottleworks - Beer, Wine & Spirits Near Me - Seattle, Washington

This is my place to go when I need some good, quality brews from around the world. I was worried I would have no store to find my favorite beer when I moved to Seattle (given the sad state of our state-run liquor stores), but Bottleworks not only has it in the party-size 750ml bottle, but also in your standard six-pack size. Thank you, Bottleworks, for continuing to supply my very thirsty fridge with some quality beer. read more

Beer markets are always fun to go to. This one takes the cake. I love the store atmosphere. It's dark and it definitely feels like a specialty, fancy store... not just any ol' beir market. We have bought and sampled plenty of beir from this store. One of our favorites is Hacker Pschor Weiss. It's pretty darn good. I also like Hoagaarden's White Beir and ofcourse all the Lambic stuff. We stopped in a week ago and was hoping to get a case of the Weiss but they didn't have it available. We ended up ordering which wasn't too bad. We just had to wait a week. By the next week we wanted to bring more to a party we were going to and they were already completely out. It's obviously a popular beer so why not order more? Well, it is a pretty small place and they don't have much room for stock which can be unfortunate for people like me who loves a particular beir that seems to be fairly popular. No worries. Like Derek S. suggests, why not try another similar bier. I mean, you're at an international beir market for goodness sake. There's so many to choose from at this location! Great store. :) read more

The most obvious thing to love about Bottleworks is their selection. If you can't find it anywhere else, you can probably find it here. Personally, what really makes me love this place is the helpful, knowledgeable staff. I'm not a beer-aficionado, but I'm in the process of learning and trying things. My sister took me in here and I was delighted. The guys here are friendly and patient and had excellent advice. Their complete lack of snobbery won me over. read more

A lot (and I mean A LOT) of beer crammed into a rather small space. The only store in Seattle where I have found a biere de garde ... and they usually have several! Beer styles from around the world are well-represented in this tiny wallingford shop. They have a huge selection of our very own northwest beers, including some from outlying towns that rarely make it here. There are Germans, including authentic Bavarian hefeweizens, there are a few east coast micros, and more Belgians than I have seen anywhere else in the states. Not sure what you want? Tell them what you usually like or what you're having for dinner, and they'll probably have a suggestion. Although there were some sort of dark times when Brouwers first opened and some of the most beer-savvy staff went to work there, Kevin has done a good job bringing the knowledge base of the new staff back up to par. read more

Maybe I love beer. Maybe I have to get some everywhere I go. Maybe I'm awesome at finding places that have an amazing selection. Yes, I like the 3rd one. Came here for multiple reasons. To check out the selection I heard good things about, to get a nice bottle for myself, and to get a bottle for my friend. They happened to have a tasting of Oskar Blues beers, but we missed it. The rep was really nice and gave us some Ten Fidy stickers, which kind of made my day because that beer is awesome! I was looking for a really good local IPA for my friend and the guy working was very helpful, super nice, and very knowledgeable. read more

Great beer selection. Over 200 different beers. Big Belgium beer list. Awesome that you can drink in the store. Super clean bathroom!! read more

4 stars, only because the brewskies are not as light on my wallet as I'd like them to be. Agree with all other posts, THIS is the one-stop-shop for premium beers in Seattle and it's in Walling-hood. Through Botttleworks and its opinionated yet helpful employees, I've come to appreciate the finest Belgium beers. Just ask and they'll hook you up with a beer or beers that will delight the palate and make you coming back for more. Nice bonus is that they tend to have a much higher alcohol content (i.e. 9-11%) but I guess you're paying for it - as I mentioned earlier. Bottom line - come here after LONG week at work, fight with a spouse/partner, when the sun don't come out (sorry Seattleites), your dog running away, et al., you'll find great comfort with a few sips of their finest. read more

what an amazing, accidental find! after grabbing a scoop at Molly Moon's I walked down the street eating my ice cream and found Bottleworks. I was blown away by this "beer store on steroids"! they have just about anything you could be looking for, as long as it isn't Budlight or Miller *lol* I was happy to find my favorite Unibrue beer, Ephemere, that no one else in Seattle seems to have. there is also a limited amount of beer on tap ~CHEERS!~ read more

These guys are great. They have a HUGE selection. Most bottle shops have a good selection of regional beers, which is fine. But when I'm looking for a specific import, like a traditional Baltic Porter or Munich Helles, this is where I'm going to find it. On top of that, the staff (admittedly I seem to always work with the same guy) is knowledgeable and very helpful. It's a drive to get here for me, but always worth it read more

THE place to go if you're looking for rare beers, or a slew of international beers. Best selection of Belgians in the area. You will walk out with more than you went in for, and your wallet will be lighter for the pleasure, but as far as selection goes, you cannot and will not be dissappointed. The staff are very knowledgable and helpful and can point you in the right direction if you don't really know what you are looking for. Best importers in the country, and they put it on display at Brouwer's for the rest of us to enjoy. Be prepared to pay a pretty penny, but you're paying for the convenienve of rare beer--chilled, no less. read more

Who does not like 850+ beers in stock at all times!! As others have noted, the the staff is not snobby, knows the product and has plenty of it. I am not to sure what else to say about this place other then tons of beer, glassware and T shirts for the beer lover in your life. read more

Great place to talk beer: They know their beer. They can make suggestions based on your preferences. They know about what's going on in the beer/brewing community and about upcoming events. If you buy beer here, make sure and ask questions. You'll learn a LOT. Great place to buy beer: They have a pretty good selection, but not as much when it comes to Asian beers, which is too bad. However, if they don't have something, there's usually a reason why, and sometimes they can tell you where to get it. Prices are a bit high, but where else are you going to find your obscure brews? Now a great place to drink beer: Maybe this is new, or maybe I just never noticed before, but they have four taps going in the back, serving up a few very nice selections. It has a try-before-you-buy atmosphere back there. read more

For the longest time, I couldn't really tell what this place was. Then one time I went into the narrow, dimly lit room, and was thoroughly impressed. Not only can you mix and match six packs, but you can also taste several tasty beers on tap. This is the place to go if you want premium selection - beers in every shape and size from around the world... Only complaint is, we went to fill 2 growlers and it was over $50; and $5 for a single bottle of import - ouch! The premium beer comes at a price - understandably so... and they have a good thing going on. Too bad the only place to enjoy it is the bistro tables standing room only in between the two beer cases. read more

Okay some talk of pretense is accurate, but thats the ONLY reason I give it 4 stars. Beer from around the world, knowledgeable staff, and now a TAP! They have periodic tastings with the brewer and for just a few bucks you can open your pallet up to a world of possibilities! If you do go, be prepared to walk around in circles; the browsing customers will get in the way of the sitting / standing customers. Really not a big deal though. read more

I can't believed I lived so close to this and never knew it existed! It was like beer heaven!! A friend of mine brought me there, I was first impressed by the amount of beer. I was secondly impressed that they had a lot of the German beer that I love so very much and cannot find anywhere else. I definitely stocked up on all of my favorites and tried a lot of new beers too. The place is very chill and relaxed and I will be back! read more

Bottleworks is an awesome little shop. Great selection of beer, very well picked. I was, of course, excited to find beers that I couldn't find in my home state (AZ). They also have a cool little bar with a couple of seats and tables around to hang out and taste some beers as well. The place has a great vibe as well. Knowledgeable staff and a lot of stuff to get involved in as well. Prices were great and I can not wait to get back next time I am in Seattle! read more

Great beer, but damn! For the money, I could drive to Redmond and get four growlers of beer. Then again, who wants to drive to Redmond? Great selection, awesome clientele. Knowledgeable staff. Is there a club card that can knock some of the price down? read more

The first time I came here, I was really put off by how dark it was. Still, I love beer and wasn't going to let that deter me from spending waaaay too much on fancy schmancy beer. Stopped by this weekend after a very long time, and was really blown away at just how great everything was. They've always had a fantastic selection of beers (and a few other exotic odds and ends) and a staff that was really knowledgeable. But the (not-so-new) taps at the back are a fantastic addition, the atmosphere is now fantastic. I wouldn't have previously asked for recommendations before - I'd be happy to pick up something I knew I liked, or a label that looked different. But having a drink at the back with a cool guy, I got some excellent recommendations that I wouldn't have otherwise known about. It's not just the best place to buy beer. It may also be the best place to drink it. read more

If you want a crazy beer and it is available in this state they will have it. Okay so that is a lie, you won't find any Budweiser or MGD or crap like that. What you will find is a whole crap-load of German Beers, Belgian Beers, Polish, English, Washington Micro, Russian, Japanese, all countries. Awesome selection. The service is really good as well. Sully is awesome and will help you find any beer you desire. read more

Beer nerds rejoice! This is one of the best bottled beer shops in Seattle. Don't be put off by the low lighting and daunting selection. Take your time and soak it all in. Ask questions. Most of all enjoy having too many choices. Oh and set a limit on how much you are gonna spend because if you are anything like me you can drop a C note on a amazingly small number of bottles very fast. But then I guess you pay for what you get. I love the fact that these guys have a great stock of Russian River beers. Nothing says I love you like a glass of supplication. Beer lovers do yourself a favor and check it out. Cheers! read more

I'm Australian. I can find Australian beers in this shop that I have difficulty finding in an Australian bottle shop! Not that I (often) buy those beers, after all there are so many others to try. I've been able to find the Lindemans Gueuze Cuvee Rene here as well as the huge bottles of Chimay and other Belgium beers that make a classy alternative to champagne for celebrations. Only one complaint....they only let me purchase ONE case of Jolly Roger last time I was in there.....well, OK, fair enough, gotta give everyone a fair shot at the Jolly Roger.... read more

I have had many great experiences at Bottleworks, a place where, especially since they started serving beer on tap, is a great place to buy beer, learn about beer, and hang out for a few hours. The staff are all knowledgable, helpful and calm, and the customers are friendly and talkative. It's a great community hub and I go there often. People who complain about the price are missing the point. I was in there the other day and was recommended a few beers to buy as gifts and actually was told for a great beer to go down the street to the brewer because Bottleworks wasn't stocking it yet. I really appreciate that industry information and the good nature and sense of community the staff seems to have to be willing to send my business to another shop down the road. read more

Great beer and cider selection throughout, bottle & draft. Growler fills for 12-14 taps, Reuben's Triumvirate IPA almost always on tap for $8-10/growler. Great service. Entire staff possesses a high beer IQ for sure. Just go. read more

If zero stars would be an option, that would be more warranted. Frankly, I'm shocked people enjoy this place. I'm not shocked to see other reviews refer to the unfriendly staff here. Unfriendly staff is an understatement. They're completely rude. By "they're" it's one particular guy pouring beers and working the register. If you try to buy something he'll chastise you for your choice or scream "THERE IS GOING TO BE A CORKING FEE FOR THAT"...like, really?? I'm at a bottle shop, I know the procedure, don't be a jerk. This place is overpriced. Yes, it's a small bottle shop, but they're a solid $1-2 more per bottle (AT LEAST) than their competition in Seattle. They also display the beers poorly, the layout is cramped, and the place is dirty. I'd sit in a dumpster before sitting in this place. I really can't believe it's getting positive reviews based on everything I experienced...I held off a solid two months before writing this and I'm still steaming. I cringe every time I walk by. But seriously, they need a staffing overhaul and a broom. read more

If you need beer, any obscure beer from god knows where, go to Bottleworks first. Great place for great beer!

Don't go here! Really don't! Dark dingy and horrifically bad service. Unless you WANT to be insulted and belittled, don't go here! I went looking for a specific type of beer. Knowing I like Dark Ales, not too bitter and with three imported brands I like as examples I was hoping to find a local microbrew that was similar. You would think that a speciality beer store would be polite and nice enough to make a recommendation ,right? Well not at Bottleworks! (They should rename it "Snottyworks") The place is dark and dingy and they were playing some sort of retro-punk-techno crap music loud enough to be really annoying. When the clerk was not busy, I was the only person in the store, I told him what I was looking for and he was outright rude and insulting. He told me "Couldn't help me...there was so much variety in Ales." REALLY? Then I asked about an ale that I read they sold by the tap an his reply was "Nope" in a kind of sneering manner and then went back to reading his paper. What a prick!Who hired this looser wannabee beer snob? I had $100.00 bucks to spend on a couple of dozen beer and went to QFC in University village instead. At that QFC they have a large selection of beer and the expert there was happy to help me and suggested two local Microbrews and I spent my money there. BTW Mr. owner this was on Saturday November 12th at 11:30 the prick with the full beard was the one who cost you sales. I don't think you will be in business long if you don't try to appeal to the public and only to those in the Snottyworks Beer snob club. KMA! read more

This bottle shop was dimly lit and a bit dingy. The parking situation was not very cool at all. They had 9 taps and a bit of seating room in the middle of the shop. The seating seemed awkward and it made it hard to get to some of the areas where the beer was. Their selection seemed to focus more on imports. Overall, I'm not very impressed by this store compared to a lot of the other bottle shops in the area. However, if you're looking to pick up beers from around the world, this is probably your place. Overall, it just wasn't my style of places. read more

Good selection of beers, but the staff are ridiculously snobby. I've gone in with questions a few times, and they act like I'm inconveniencing them just to talk to me. They never offer help or crack a smile, and if you ask for a sample of one of the beers on tap, they'll coldly remind you that samples are only for people who plan to buy something. No shit. I've bought something every time I've gone in there, sample or not. I won't be going in there any more. There are much better beer stores in Seattle that have a comparable selection, comparable prices and likeable staff read more

I love the idea of local businesses and am more than willing to spend a few extra bucks on their products to support them. I used to feel this way about Bottleworks. But lately, the attitudes and unfriendly vibe coming from the counter have been pushing me away. With QFC's new beer isle and the good selection of beers at Whole Foods, who needs pretension? What gives? read more

"meh, i've experienced better" that pretty much sums it up. we were doing our weekly all-over-town errands run (central market, fremont market/PCC, broadway market) and this was on our "anything but I-5" route. dingy. random singles, broken-up sixers, no clear organizational scheme. dark coolers in a dark building. the staff were busy watching a football game and didn't even move out of the entrance when we came in. shitty prices (well, the stuff that actually had prices displayed) and shitty service. bought two singles and left, never to return. i'd much rather just buy beer at QFC or central market, both of which have a decent selection, than deal with this place. plus, it's in wallingford, which is a fucking joke of a neighborhood with shitty intersections, shittier drivers, and no convenient parking. read more

These guys take their beer very, very seriously. It's not just about diversity, (Flemish Duchess de Bourgogne Sour, Japanese Hitachino Nest White Ale, Sinebrychoff Finnish Porter), it's about their excitement when they talk about what they've got in and what they've got coming. You can pick their brains before throwing down a chunk of change on some new expensive brew which helps when it seems like half of the new stuff these days has a sparkly foil label. They'll clue you to what lives up to the hype and what's bullpucky. Save for NW brewers and a few heavyweights like Stone, Lagunitas, DogfishHead, Great Divide and Big Sky it's largely imports which is just fine with me. read more
