They want to chance leaving a very expensive tree in our front yard BY the road, since this is the final destination. By the time the refrigerator is plugged in, begins cooling, gets loaded, and stabilizes, the 2-day window is long gone. This policy traps customers into dealing with warranty repairs for defective new products. If you have an issue beyond 2 days, Home Depot will hang up on you,lie to you, and not help. Then, GE will force you to be available according to their schedule. They called me at 1 pm and expected me to leave work immediately. When I said I couldn't take off, GE said they will see if they can get me on schedule in the next two weeks.I need a functioning fridge, that's why I bought one. If I wanted a rebuilt one, I would have bought one off of Craigslist. Worst customer service on earth. You have been warned!

It was denied by a third party called TRE - "The retail equation". The HD store manager, Brandy, told me there is nothing they can do about it, if TRE will not allow it. I called TRE and Home Depot Corporate and was told the same thing. Actually the rude woman from TRE hung up on me within a minute of getting on the phone when I asked why I was needing to speak with them when I bought the product from Home D. Brandy and the other employees were professional about it Bottom line, don't assume store credit is as good as a return because apparently the retailer has "no control" over the store credit. Apparently Amazon, Dicks, and Best Buy have the same policy.
