I made a mistake. We arrived at the North Station and went out front to do the hop on hop off thing. There was a sign there as a pick up spot by the curb. I knew the brand from Europe. There were also other services coming by - the trolleys that provided the same service. Tons of them went by. My mistake? Signing up with these thieves for their services. No one came for over a half hour. i called. They sent a van with no tour info and brought us back to another spot without the double decker buses running. I asked for a refund. No. I was told it was my mistake for not realizing they weren't picking up there. It was my mistake waiting for a bus that didn't come. I have used these services in Europe and they were great. These guys are literally thieves. Do NOT use them. Sign up for and use the trolleys. They were everywhere! read more

So, they had to navigate a parade, which eliminated 4 stops. I understand that. And it was a busy weekend--also understandable. What I don't understand is that I emailed a day or two before and asked how the stops and times would be affected. They said: "No, there's no changes to pick ups and drop offs." Surely they should have known? After getting to Charlestown stop, we gave up and got an Uber. Other buses like Duck and Trolley came by multiple times, but not Boston Sightseeing. It kinda felt like it was a bait and switch and we paid 6 dollars more per person. Their website has one price listed (44.99), but in person you pay more (50.99). I asked the guy about it and he said it was listed on their website that you would pay more in person. Pulled up their site, asked him to show that to me where it said you'd pay more in person and he couldn't show me where that policy was. So check your ticket price. The tour itself was okay. Highly recommend taking a ride with Boston Sightseeing to visit Boston in a unique and fun way. The double decker bus is absolutely the way to go and gives you unobstructed views of Boston. Terrible service!! Booked their hop on hop off as a 90 minute loop around Boston with multiple places of interest on the tour. After an initial tour of Boston business district we tried to switch to the other routes on the tour. We were told the next route was temporarily closed due to congestion, but would be open in an hour. Returned in 90 minutes to be told route was closed for the day. We requested half our money back. No refunds, and it turned out they knew all along that they were not going to cover the full route. Person in the field was rude. Called the office number and got a run around with no resolution. Boston was the 1st stop on my Royal Caribbean cruise. We selected this bus from many buses available because it seemed to be a good value for the amount charged. I rode on the top deck and was stung by a yellow jacket/ hornet about 10 minutes into the ride. None of the drivers had any ointment -just a bandaid in the first aid kit; which was unfortunate and they were rather unconcerned about my sting. I don't know if the yellow jacket was up in the corner or under one of the seats on the top deck (maybe someone should spray and inspect the upper deck periodically). A young, well-dressed man named Eli, narrated the tour, and he was excellent. I thought he had a script but NO he did not. He was very knowledgeable, and he asked the driver to adjust his speed in certain areas so he could bring out certain highlights. He was very considerate of his passengers. KUDOS to him! The hop on hop off part didn't go so well because that day the Kings March took place on the Commons, and streets were blocked off and we had to walk to a pickup spot that wasn't affected by the police blockades. So, despite the bee sting and the protesters, the ride was pretty good! read more

Waited 55 minutes at a stop. They claimed they had numerous buses but they only have two or three to bring you from the ship to main hub. Once you exit and walk to explore good luck waiting. I called the company and they told me another van would pick us up. Pretty sure they sent him once I called to complain. My fault for not checking the reviews before booking but this was horrible. My boyfriend is well traveled and has been on many sightseeing bus tours, said this was easily the worst. We kept waiting at Boston Commons and couldn't find the stop, after 2 phone calls to their rude customer service we finally found it. They couldn't even explain to us where the stop was and it was not marked. They told us the bus would be there in 5 min.. it was 30+. The tour guide ruined the whole experience... she got off at almost every stop and there were 5. She would say oh 2 minutes and be like 10-20 min each stop and return with McDonald's etc. no joke. It was incredibly annoying and we couldn't wait to get off!!! The microphone didn't work so we couldn't hear, it was garbled and there was hardly any history or commentary when we could hear. To top it off She dropped the metal connector and cord from the microphone off the roof of the bus down below and hit a passenger in the head. She just said "oh sorry" it was the worst. If I could leave a 0 I would. The bus tour dropped myself, my baby nephew, my sister, and my parents off at Boston Commons at 2:00 PM. The busses are supposed to come every half hour. The next buss comes at 2:25 PM and does not wait for people to come to the bus. We had to wait in sweltering 100 degree temperature heat for 45 minutes for the next bus to come. In addition, the busses are not air-conditioned and were like ovens. We did not have my nephew's car seat as we thought we were going to be taking a bus all day. Because of this, we were forced to wait for the bus and were unable to take a taxi or Uber. When I contacted the company to complain, they were rude and made excuses. This experience ruined our day and was dangerous for the baby. read more

We do these in all the cities we visit and love them. Don't do the Hop-on-Hop-off bus. They are horrible. We paid close to 200$ for three of us to do the entire 24 stops. The guy said it would take us 3 1/2 hours. After 1 hour we had only made it to stop 6 as we sat and waited for over 20 minutes to go to Harvard area, and after getting frustrated we bailed. We were able to get a bus to stops 7 and 8 but then went to the aquarium. I am trying to get refunded for the entire 24 stops but haven't heard back yet. Don't do this tour!!!! read more

It is not just that they had us waiting almost an hour while competitors like Old Town and City View had 5 and 3 trolleys respectively stopping by at our stop (#8), it is that when I called to complaint the lady on the phone treated me as if I was lying. Unreal. When the trolley finally arrived we encountered long faces from both enployees in the trolley. Very poor service. Not recommended. Try Old Town or City View instead. read more

I'm very disappointed. Tour took longer than expected and very little commentary during the tour. The little information we received was from their phone. I enjoyed a tour with their competitor years ago, and it was non-stop information and interesting stories about the city and sites. This tour was nothing like that! In addition, we had to transfer to a small bus to "see" the North end and world trade center area. It took over an hour to "see" very little in a hot bus. We waited 45 minutes for a bus. After calling, a bus showed us 30 minutes later and never opened the door so we could get on. My husband walked in front of the bus and demanded he open the door. It took another 10 minutes for him to open the door. The air conditioner did not work. New buses and driver didn't know how to operate it. The audio tour was terrible and impersonal. We spend 63$ a person for one day and felt we learned nothing. Every time we passed a historic landmark, the recorded audio said "this building has lots of history and stuff." No joke, when talking about the Boston Public Library it said it had "lots of books and stuff." And they never elaborated on the history or stories. Terrible experience. The first bus we boarded (one we waited 40 minutes for) was almost full upon arrival. There were no seats up top leaving us down in the cabin with NO air conditioning. Yup, you read that right. Zero air conditioning during a record breaking heat wave. To make matters worse the PA system was not in working order so the guide was screaming at the top of his lungs upstairs to try to continue the tour. Needless to say we decided to get off this bus at the next stop. We tried another larger bus later in the day. We waited for over 45 minutes even though it was only supposed to be 20 minutes. This one had an automated speaker that spoke in a computer monotone voice the entire time. The tour barely mentioned any significant sights in the city. If it did mention them they did not elaborate past just pointing it out. They pointed out shopping centers and office buildings. It sounded like paid advertisements. We were expecting some historical sights and a live tour guide. Worst $100 I've ever spent. My advice, choose a different tour company. read more

I'm a little surprised to see some recent negative reviews, as I had a very nice experience with this tour bus company. I hope this review will be particularly helpful for parents. I was traveling by myself with my 2 year old, and bought a one-day hop-on hop-off pass. I was between this company and the Trolley, but ultimately went with Boston Sightseeing for a few reasons. First, my toddler loves double-decker busses and was so excited to ride on one. Second, I was a little concerned about ease of stroller access in and out of the trolley, so went with the bus. This was the correct decision, as maneuvering our travel stroller on and off the bus was a breeze - I didn't have to remove my son from the stroller to get on and off, and when I did take him out so he could enjoy the bus ride, I didn't need to collapse the stroller. Third, their stops were a little fewer in number, so the overall ride was shorter, which I appreciated having a small child with me. I didn't feel like I needed any other stops, as the ones they stopped at were close in proximity to most everything you might want to see. During the ride, the tour guide offered to stop at each and every stop, but if there were no takers and no one to pick up, we moved on to the next stop. The tour guide was also attentive to us and other guests. It was extremely hot that day, so my son and I stayed downstairs to avoid the direct sun. However, it was pretty hot downstairs without the AC on; the driver and tour guide quickly offered to turn it on for me to alleviate some of the heat, which I greatly appreciated. I think it would be helpful if they had some sort of tracking tool or app like city busses do so you can see how far away the nearest bus is; however, absent a feature like that, I did call their main office line a few times to let them know what stop I was at and to see how far away the nearest bus was. On each occasion, the person answering the phone was helpful and courteous and provided accurate information. I would definitely use them again, especially if traveling with a small child. read more

I bought a one day hop on hop off ticket to tour around Boston. What happened was it stopped twice: one once for about five minutes and once for about 10 minutes and that was it. There wasn't an opportunity other than that to get on and off. I've been to Boston once before and did the trolley tour which I highly recommend. Compared to this - there is no comparison. It was a hot day and there's no way to be cool on the open bus because there are only a few seats downstairs and the air-conditioning doesn't reach the passenger area. My primary complaint is that it really wasn't a hop on hop off. If I'd known that I would've paid less for the "tour". I'm not sure if all the other people on the bus only bought a tour ticket. I spoke to two of them who told me that they had bought a tour ticket and not a hop on hop off ticket. Since I've been to Boston before it was OK for a quick run around town, but if this was my only trip to Boston I would not recommend this at all. I tried to ask the person who was telling the stories a question once and he said he'd get back to me and never did. I also saw the Fenway Park, Gillette stadium which was the oldest baseball stadium and used by major leagues. In night, I went to music clubs where I take enjoy of music and dancing. On the sixth day of my trip, I went to shopping stores which were situated around my hotel from where I take clothes and some good things. After this, I collect some memories in my hotel rooms and also enjoy the facilities of cheap hotel rates.
