We had the Hawaiian pizza yesterday. At $27.50 for a medium pizza, it's really not worth it. It was "okay" at best.

Not a ton to say about Boston Pizza. It is what you'd expect it to be. I think Eminem said "I am whatever you say I am" and in that case BP is a quick and acceptable place to grab a bite when cooking isn't an option and convenience is priority number one. I've pastas, pizzas, and salads from here and they are always okay. Nothing ever stands out as a wow moment; but, I didn't expect anything to. They have a large selection and the servers have been friendly and reasonably attentive. read more

I have this love-hate relationship with Boston Pizza. I'm not a fan of their prices for the quality of their food. It's alright, but nothing stands out for me. Nights when I'm home alone and I have nothing to eat at home and/or really don't feel like cooking, I order delivery. In Dartmouth, there aren't many choices. Expensive chain pizza, cheaper mom & pop shop pizza, and Boston Pizza. Try as I might, at least 30% of the time I wind up ordering Boston Pizza when I'm craving non-pizza delivery. Therefore, I give them my business more often than I prefer, but mostly out of lack of options. Their online ordering makes things so much better. I don't have to talk to anyone (so important to me!), I can just take my time browsing their online menu and clicking for my food. However, the risk of online ordering usually means my special requests (like regular sour cream instead of cajun, or bbq sauce on the side) get neglected. Plus, expect at least an hour for delivery. I've once had a 90 minute wait for my order, and got little in terms of an apology when I called to hunt it down. I've been inside a few times, too. The bar side is nice when you want to avoid the family-friendly (*cough* countless ankle biters running around) scene. When it's quieter, though, I prefer seating in the large booth area. Very spacious, semi-private, and comfy seats are my preference. More often than not, I order the baked ravioli with their tomato cream sauce when I get delivery. When I'm in the restaurant, I'll usually go for one of their burgers or sandwiches. If we have some people dining with us, we sometimes split the nachos. They're usually pretty decent, and don't lack toppings. I've had their cheesecake and chocolate explosion desserts. Both are pretty good, but not really worth the expensive price tag. When you go in, make sure you remember to show your Air Miles card when paying to collect. More often than not, the servers never bother asking and I walk out missing out on a couple of miles. read more

The experience was more 3.5 than 3. We went to Boston Pizza on Portland St. Friday for dinner, and our experience was similar to many of the reviews already posted. We were a family table of four, with two kids, and BP is a very kid-friendly restaurant. I find it a bit pricey, but I understand that's the way it goes with large franchise restaurants. Overall, the service was prompt and friendly, the kids were entertained with activities, and the pizza was yummy. We ordered the kids' meals first to get them started, and that was followed by a large Tuscan pizza and a beer for us big kids. All the food arrived quickly. Meals for the kids included: chicken fingers and side veggies (steamed carrots, broccoli, cauliflower) with apple juice for the 5 year old (he chose very-blue jello for dessert) and a kid's personal pepperoni pizza with side veggies and chocolate milk for the 6 year old (he chose a 'chocolate pizza' for dessert). Note that a kids' chocolate pizza dessert is a chocolate medallion, shaped like a pizza, not an actual dessert pizza like those offered at other joints like Pizza Hut. Our Tuscan pizza arrived promptly too, and it was yummy! If you want to try a pizza without tomato base (or if you're dreaming of Tuscany on a cold wet day!), the flavour combination is delicious. The sun-dried tomatoes might make your heart sing too...or maybe it was just mine, in any case, YUM. You can choose regular or multi-grain crust. I asked our server for her recommendation, and we went with multi-grain because that's how BP does their Tuscan. Delicious. The atmosphere in the dining room is lively, chatty and easy going. When the kids spotted friends from camp sitting two tables over it was mini pizza-party-town until the orders started to arrive. There was at least one moment of great timing just as our little guy was getting thirsty and restless. The manager came by suddenly to ask how things were going so I asked for some water, and he brought it over right away. I half expected him to go delegate the task to our server as I've seen other restaurant managers do over the years. But he did what I would've done, and the friendly, efficient & personalized service by everyone involved made our meal really enjoyable. Nicely done, staff! It's a BP with okay service and okay food. What're you expecting? =] I love how their some of their salads are like 1000+ calories (Crispy Chicken Pecan) - I just laugh at stuff like that because of the monster portion of the salad and everything else that's in it. Although there was the occasional long wait for food check up and bills. I ordered the Meator Pizza because it's one of my favourite things there. For a place that I say has mediocre food and service - I absolutely love their pizzas. The dough is crisp on the outside and soft on the inside (gluten free or regular). The amount of meat on the pizza is pretty good (and the different kinds) - and the sauce is spicy enough to give the pizza a nice kick - or it could be the italian sausage that gives it a kick...haha. Boston Pizza serves the kind of food you can fill your gut with yet remain unsatisfied. I've ended up here a few times in a pinch, desperate for a quick meal in Dartmouth and lured in by the convenient location. If you go for pizza, Boston Pizza's namesake, you'll be disappointed. The pizza is small, expensive, and extremely greasy. There are better alternatives scattered all over Dartmouth. If you go for the other entrees you may be disappointed as well. Although portions are generous, they're pricey and nothing special. I've also found an odd number of their dishes are spicy when you wouldn't expect it. So watch out. The biggest cons for me is the unhealthy factor and the lack of variety. Nothing on the menu exists that is unique or special. No secret ingredients, no favored dish available only at Boston Pizza to keep you coming back. Although there is a small side menu of "healthy choices" they're bland and still packed with fat and calories compared to the average meal. If you like tomato based sauces this may be the place for you, aside of the pasta there is an inordinate number of sandwiches and main courses smothered in marinara, bolognese, and general tomato sauces. The service is also hit and miss. Sometimes attentive, other times aloof. read more

I've had my fair share of different experiences at this Boston Pizza but with none shockingly good or devastatingly bad, a three star fits the bill for this big box resto in Dartmouth. Service is nothing more than standard with the exception of some serious delays when it comes to getting bills, paying at the main station on the way out (man, I hate that sort of set-up), or getting the hostesses attention to be seated. Still, I've seen servers go the extra mile for some families with picky kids so there could be some shining moments hidden here and there. I have to say, I have a soft spot for the terribly bad for you appetizers that they serve at places like this. And you'll definitely find more flavour in those than you will the pizzas and pastas which is a bit ironic. Not bad for a casual catch-up when you're not feeling to picky. read more

This location is convenient and I only end up at Boston Pizza if a friend wants to go there. I've only been to this particular location once and the food was edible, the service wasn't too bad. This is generally what you'd expect with a chain restaurant but comparing this to two other locations I've been, this place isn't so bad. If you end up here I'd recommend the spicy perogy pizza, it was pretty good. read more

Boston Pizza has become the ubiquitous "they're everywhere!" of chain pizza stores. Offering other options, such as pastas and salads, there's really nothing to separate them from other similar stores except for the quality of their food. All of Boston Pizza's entrées feel and taste as though they've been frozen and defrosted - and not in a good way (if there is a good way!). I realize that this is a popular concept in chain restaurants in order to ensure consistency - but trust me, a little shake-up from the usual would be a good thing here. Boston Pizza provides an average experience for an average price. For my money, I'd rather visit a Tarek's or John's Lunch - local businesses both offering great alternatives to the daily grind. read more

The food is always good and continues to be! I try to explore different menu items every time I go and have not been disappointed. The service was kind of slow though. I get that it was a little busy but we waited like 30 mins for our food after we got our drinks and I was starving! The waitress was very nice and apologized for the wait. Came here on a rainy Saturday night in February around 6:30pm after we couldn't get into St Louis Bar & Grill (or were told it would be a long wait). There was still a short wait here as well, but at least we could sit at the bar and have a drink. Mind you, but the time we sat at the bar, our table became ready, so we didn't even get said drinks. LOL We were seated at a booth on the main dining side and service was standard/friendly. I ordered the slushie frozen Rocket cocktail? The red, white & blue one that looks so amazing, but I don't see drinks listed on their online menu to be sure of the name. It was a bit on the syrupy side this visit, but I was warned by the server in advance that it may turn out that way, so I decided to try it anyway. It was okay. The others in my party had beer, so no complaints from them. One tried their mild wings (bones in) and they looked good, and she said they tasted very good. I had the Baked 7-Cheese Ravioli (15.95) which was good and filling. My partner had the Pesto Chicken Penne (17.95) and he liked it more than he expected, and was not even able to finish it off. That never happens, so at least you are getting good value for this dish. I forget what the other person had. We all decided to split the Boston Creme Piescraper (base of chocolate cookie crumble, custard ice cream, vanilla ice cream and chocolate ganache, and finished with whipped cream and drizzles of caramel and chocolate sauces. (8.95) which was exactly how it sounds. So overall, we were definitely satisfied with this experience, although I am not a lover of chain restaurants. Also, I found the lighting in this location a bit weird. It felt a bit too bright, and the place was busy with kids, so decide if that's your thing or not. I'd go back if someone asked me to, but I'd never probably pick it on my own. But I also don't live in Dartmouth, so that should be taken into consideration. read more

We dined on 05/03/12 and our server was Allison M. We have dined in your restuarant numerous times and Allison is the worst waitress we have come across. Here is what occured: We dined in your restaurant on 05/3/12. We were seated by hostess and given menus. We looked around and the restaurant was not busy, so we thought we would get quick service. We waited 15 minutes and I finally went to the hostess and told her we have been waiting 15 minutes. All she said was "oh, really". We finally did get a waitress "Allison M. We ordered drinks and the Fried Wings with Thai sauce. The arrived hot so I asked for a plate, napkins and wet naps (which at most restaurants they come automatically) Maybe she thought we should place our wings on the table while we ate them? Our orders arrived shortly after we finished the wings. It would have been nice if she removed our bones so we did not have to look at them when we ate our dinners. My meal was the Half Rack with mashed. It was delicious and hot, but why should I have to ask for butter for my mashed potatoes?? and have the waitress throw some on the table as she walked by?? I also had to flag her down to let her know that a salad came with my meal. When I told her about it, she said oh, yea, I'll get it. So, potatoes getting cold, waiting for salad to eat with my meal did not make it a great dinner. I also noticed on our bill that she charged me .50 for dressing side order for my salad?? She should have told me about the charge and I would have cancelled my order. My husband also asked for ranch dressing for the wings and we were charged .50 on our bill for tartar sauce. Not sure what that is for, but if the waitress would have said something, we would have cancelled that order also. We are professional people that do not have much time to go to restaurants, but when we do get the opportunity we like to think we choose wisely. Not sure if that was the right choice this time. Allison was very unprofessional, and if you keep her as a waitress, I am sure I will not be the only one sending you extensive emails about the service. Was very disappointed as it is one place I know it has the food that all 3 my children like. The food service was extremely slow it is understandable if place is hoping but there was only 6 tables and it took hour to get our meals. The dish my wife ordered was to have no tomatoes in it , it was full , the children bugs and cheese where cold by the time they arrived. This was the second bad experience at this particular Boston Pizza there wont be a 3rd. The only high point was the manager. She was professional and good at her job to try an make things right . We used to go to this restaurant with our family once in a while. BP is overpriced for what you get though, and we always left feeling a little ripped off. The staff were usually pleasant, but we stopped going altogether after we stopped in one evening at dinner hour when there was some sports game on the t.v.'s. I would say our waitress was dressed for "the event", but looked more like a hostess in a strip club and she acted like she was wasting her time serving an actual family. We were pretty disgusted that a "family restaurant" would stoop to having scantily clad waitresses for a sporting event and it was the last time we darkened their doorway. read more
