We love this place! We have been taking our Bernedoodle here for a little over a year (and she needs to be groomed every 6-8 weeks) ever since she was a puppy for grooming. They are easy to schedule with consistently do a great job. If you are looking for a location that knows how to properly groom doodles then this is the place! We also frequently bring her in for nail trims in-between grooms which are easy to schedule and take just a few minutes for the apt. Staff is always friendly and accommodating! The only con is that it is sometimes hard to find street parking near their building. read more

One year ago today this place lost my dog and left us to find him on our own in the freezing cold. He was missing for about 11 hours before we finally found him. He was found at 4am wandering the streets of Rosindale in a snow storm. They never apologized or followed up with us to this day- I can't believe it's been a whole year. This place doesn't care about your dog or you, just your wallet. I will never stop telling people about how poor this place is. I have made several posts on yelp in the past with the thought the ownership would see it and reach out- but they still ignore it so I will continue to tell the story. Stay away. read more

Boston Paws is the best place in town!! As another reviewer said -- 5 stars truly isn't enough! They go above and beyond to care for both people and pets, and their dog-first philosophy comes through on every level. It feels like leaving your dogs with good friends, not with a business. Their prices are very reasonable, which is really a bonus, since I would pay premium for the level of care and service that they provide. I recently moved from NY, and I found them while trying to find a groomer to finish my dog's groom after having a harrowing experience with another establishment. They managed to fit me in the next morning, in spite of being very busy! My dog is an elderly, anxious rescue, and he doesn't always do well with new people, groomers, or other dogs. Sarah and Rachel instantly set both of us at ease! Sarah did an incredible job finishing his groom, and she managed to do it without giving him another bath! This was great, since baths are the worst part for my little dude. When I came to pick him up, he was completely happy and content, and even hung around for a while afterwards! None of his usual scramble for the door. Grooming has always been a necessary struggle for us, since he is a Lhasa apso/spaniel mix, and his fur grows very quickly, but he has sensitive skin and is partially blind, so he HATES being bathed and shaved. This is the very first time the 16 months that I've had him that he has been happy after being groomed! Sarah is absolutely a magical dog whisperer, and I will never have him groomed by anyone else. Now that I've found Boston Paws, I will be using them for boarding and walking as well. I've been taking my labradoodle here for grooming for a little over a year and usually love the job they do, up until this last time. I picked him up after a day of daycare and grooming and when I got home noticed blood throughout my entire house. I had no idea where it was coming from until I looked at his paws and noticed his nails were cut down to the artery almost, on not one but both his front paws. I could visibly see the artery. I was so worried he would lick his paws and get an infection so I called as soon as a I noticed. Of course no answer. I left a voicemail stating how upset I was to see this and told them to call me back as soon as they got the message, it's been 3 days and I have not heard from them. I cannot say enough about how much I love Boston Paws! Our fur baby Henry goes for daycare and boarding, but gets SO much more out of the experience. He is socialized, exercised, and loved. He gets SO excited as soon as I say "doggie daycare today?" And goes crazy when he sees Belgrade Ave on our trip there. I honestly feel better dropping him off with Rachael, her dad and their unbelievable staff than I do with family and friends. He leaves tired (but happy) and never comes home smelly, dirty or sick like he has with several other places in Boston. We recently had a baby so Henry (Or Henriiiiiii/the Creature, as they like to call him) has been going to daycare a lot more - and it's so wonderful knowing he is in such great hands and getting he attention he needs. They even came out to my car to bring him in when they knew I had the baby in the car - talk about top notch service and care! Boston Paws is amazing!!! Over the past 4 months, we have used their daycare, dog walking, boarding and grooming services for my super sweet standard poodle, Gypsy. When she goes to daycare, she gets so excited as soon as we pull up outside and then rushes inside. Grooming services are great and she has come out so super cute each time :-) I also really like that I can get her an exit bath and a ride home after boarding her. She also loves her walker, Meghan! I was home recently when she picked her up and Gypsy was so happy to see her that she was jumping all over and wagging her tail (usually I am the only one who gets this reception from my sweet puppy...trying not to be jealous! lol). They have also recommended an amazing trainer who is now working on building my pups confidence! read more

I am writing this review one full week after Boston Paws lost my dog. Last week my husband arrived to pick up our dog. He was told to wait and then was informed "your Duke took off." Nothing else. We received no phone call and only learned of this because he came to pick him up. The staff member was there alone, appeared overwhelmed and had to be pressed for more information. He stated it was his first day and did not even have the phone number for his manager. After demanding to know what happened, my husband was told someone came to pick up their dog (also named Duke) and the staff brought our dog out to this person. Our Duke got spooked and slipped the collar and took off running. The collar is the one that they require you buy from them for 50+ dollars as they ensure safety that dogs cannot slip this kind of collar. Duke typically wears a prong collar or a harness but they do not allow dogs to wear any thing else besides the one they sell. The staff member informed him there was one person out looking for Duke but they essentially had no idea where he was. It was now after 5PM, dark, below 20 degrees, and a snow storm was expected to drop 5-12 inches in a few hours. After some time the manager, Rachel reached out and said she was over 40 minutes away. She informed she would head out when she got there to help look for him. She never apologized for losing our dog but said "I'm so sorry for you to go through this" and that he was "dropped off with a loose collar" - insinuating it was our fault. She stated "in the morning" she would go to staples and print flyers. We reminded her that there was a snow storm coming and it was unacceptable to think we would simply wait to the morning to continue our search. We continued looking all night into the morning and did not hear from Rachel again. Luckily we found Duke around 4am after searching the streets, calling police, dog rescue agencies and everyone else we could think of for 11 straight hours. We are so happy that he home safe but could have easily ended very badly. Rachel texted in the morning she was happy to hear Duke was found and we heard nothing further from her or anyone else at Boston Paws. We are deeply concerned about the current drop off/pick up policies and staff training at Boston Paws. They do not allow owners in the building but instead bring dogs out to you. The street is extremely busy and I have witnessed the majority of the dogs come out jumping and high energy. The staff is typically juggling several dogs at once. Rachel stated that this has never happened before but we have heard from others including the police that numerous dogs have escaped or gone missing from Boston Paws. Having said all that, we thought long and hard about writing this review, but after one week of no contact with us after the incident we just don't have a choice, this is completely unacceptable. We did a lot of research before sending our pup here and hope this helps to make sure their does not happen to anyone else and to consider other doggy day care in the area. read more

Our boys, Rocco and Ramsey, visited Boston Paws yesterday for the first time and were groomed by Sarah. Rocco was in tough shape having had a bad haircut at a place in Dedham - to see him come home happy and looking so good made my day! Thank you Sarah!! Ramsey is an 8 year old Malito-poo and Rocco is a 3 Year old Wheaton terrier. It was the absolute best hair cut they have ever had. They look adorable and smell so good. And I truly appreciate that they didn't put those scratchy horrible scarves on them. We have found our new home! Also the staff was so friendly and accommodating. We were highly unsatisfied with our experience at Boston Paw. The dogs boarded there over Thanksgiving weekend, and the location came at the recommendation of a friend. I was a little anxious that they had a choice of multiple accomodations when literally every other kennel in the greater Boston area was booked solid weeks in advance. When we arrived to pick our two dogs up the Saturday after Thanksgiving we were met outside with them on leash. I could smell them from 5 feet away, outside in fresh air. They smelled like urine and feces. I was so shocked at the smell that I just took custody of the dogs, and didn't say anything. The smell was so bad that we had to sleep with our windows open because it kept waking us up. We had to bathe them twice each the next morning. Additionally, both beds were soaked in urine. I had to throw them both out, I couldn't even bring them in the house. When the employee handed me the beds, I held them up against my legs and my jeans were immediately soaked. When I got home, I had recovered from my shock somewhat, and realized I had forgotten to ask if they had been given their medications. I called and politely asked if either of them had had accidents while at Boston Paw and was told: "Oh, yeah, the girl dog, a lot. She wouldn't come out for 24 hours, so we just left her in there and she peed all over everything." I was also told there was blood in her urine. Our female dog was very sick from the time we picked her up. She had explosive diarrhea for 3 days and was listless. Of greatest concern, she was extremely jumpy and shied from us when we tried to pet her. I emailed the owner asking for some reassurance, an apology, an offer to pay for their new beds, anything....I didn't hear back for over a week. When I finally did, she left a giggly voicemail on my phone laughing about "your nervous girl" and how much fun they had with the boy dog. I returned her voicemail with an email 5 days ago asking to please let me know, in writing, if she had anything to offer in the way of an apology and never heard from her again. This used to be our go to place to get our dogs nails trimmed, but recently I've had a really hard time getting ahold of anyone to make an appointment. It's like no one answers the phone for hours on end. Today, with our overdue pup in tow, we tried to walk up, and the rudest employee told us he didn't have any time the entire rest of the day to squeeze in a nail trim (seriously? it takes less than 5 minutes) and couldn't of cared less when I told him I had been trying to call all day and no one would pick up. We'll be searching for a new place with better customer service and a phone line that actually works! read more

The groomers here are outstanding. Golden-doodles can be tricky, and my dog has an especially thick coat. I moved to Boston Paws because of Sarah, and she consistently does a great job. I just took my dog to Pressley, and I was equally impressed. She did a fantastic--"short but not shaved"--groom on Finn. She is a great addition to Boston Paws. The staff is very friendly and always welcome me at the door. I haven't tried the daycare, but I always have them in mind as a backup. I trust them to give the dogs lots of attention and exceptional care. read more

I was thrilled with Boston Paws! Not only did my little girl, Gracie, get a fabulously sassy new summer cut but when I picked her up she was dressed to the "nines" with a spring-time bandana around her neck but also 2 precious bows in her ears. She was also happy and "full-of-herself" when I picked her up so I knew she had been treated well. The staff I met were super nice and obviously love what they do. UPDATE!! Boston Paws is still deserving of ten or more stars! When I wrote my first review for Boston Paws I had only boarded my dog with them once. Fast forward to December, and I have now boarded her with them 5-6 times and she goes to daycare Monday through Friday. We love Boston Paws!! My girl is always so well taken care of when she is at daycare and when boarding. I never have to worry if she's getting enough exercise, or if she's eating or taking her meds. She always comes home smelling like she was just groomed. I've recommended Boston Paws to all my dog owning friends; they have all given them a try and say they will never go anywhere else again! I was surprised at the negative review written by Sara S. I've never experienced anything even remotely close to what she writes about in her review, and my dog goes to Boston Paws every day. I rarely write Yelp reviews but I felt moved to because I am so delighted by Boston Paws. We've used their services in many ways over the past few months and couldn't be happier. Grooming: Sarah is an excellent groomer, providing the dogs with a safe, happy and enjoyable experience. When we came to get our dog, she not only looked great but she looked HAPPY. Sarah does book far in advance because her services are so great, but she's worth the wait. Walks: Because we were so satisfied by the grooming services, we decided to try Boston Paws for walking, too. I am SO glad that we did. They use an online system for booking that makes booking/canceling very easy. They've been really accommodating when we've had questions, concerns, or last minute changes to our hectic schedules. Our dog is getting routine, an opportunity to walk with other dogs at a reasonable price, and the owners genuinely seem to care about her. Every time I call to speak with them, they speak about our dog like she is a part of the family. It truly is such a joy. Sara does an excellent job of grooming and pampering Rex, he just loves her and loves being there !!! As soon as we pull up in the car he goes crazy !!! We are terribly dissatisfied with our experience at Boston Paws. They forced and threatened us to pay an additional $170 for the return of our dog, and accused us of our dog destroying their doors while refusing to provide proof of the damage and evidence that it was our dog. They claim to have good service but after the five day stay, our dog came back in poor condition smelling terrible while his mouth was covered in ulcers. They even tried to tell us that they lost the food bowls that we gave them on the first day, forcing us to make 3 total trips in order to finally get them back. read more

My giant 4-yr-old Australian Shepherd, Flash, hates to be groomed and starts to shake when I'd take him to the groomers. I'd heard great things about Sara at Boston Paws. We were ok with our old groomer but didn't have warm fuzzies. So I figured I'd try out BP. Rachel, owner, was great and let me walk shaking Flash to the groom room. Sara sat on the floor with flash and I while I told her about him and what I was looking for from her. When I left he was nervous but in great hands. While I was gone Rachel filmed (on her phone) Flash being fine with Sara. They took 4 hrs and brushed out every ratty belly matt in a way nobody ever has (our other groomer would buzz his belly). He liked Sara. She has the touch and really loves dogs! I really appreciated the attention, time and care they took and will certainly be back. Since then, Flash has actually let me brush him, which I think is a sign of how good he feels and how caring Sara was with him. read more

My dogs are so excited to go to this day care, they start making all kinds of sounds when they realize where we are heading. It is hard to contain them in the vehicle for the trip. When we arrive they can not wait to get in the door and head to the indoor play room. The owners are always present to greet them and give them welcoming hugs and pats. Ariel and Louis (employees of Boston Paws) have been caring for my dogs for years, they are very attentive and notice any change with my dogs whether small or large. I trust them immensely and know that my girls are safe in their care. When I pick them up they are reluctant to leave until they see me. This family owned business in Roslindale is a sanctuary for me and my dogs in this cold weather. They really enjoy playing with the other dogs. My dogs generally have endless energy and no "off" buttons. Since starting at Boston Paws, they are tired at the end of the day and fully relaxed when they return home. I highly recommend this day care for your dog(s).
