I have permed and cut my hair for years but back issues make it imposible now. I got a bad cut and showed Eric in the salon and he said to call. I originally spoke with Eric on the phone about an appointment with him or Emily and he stated that they are booked far out but KT? was available. I explained to KT to not follow the bad cut but even it out so that it blends and stacks with textured ends. I went home and saw that not much from the back was touch and the long and short layers were still there and thought she misunderstood. I, also, entioned that I never want my hair colar short. You can see by the before and after that there was a chunk taken out on one side with long hair next to it and the back still had long strands that didn't blend with the other side but were the same as before. I was expecting better for an expensive cut and I definitely would have waited for Eric. I want to try them again but not with her. Only my second post in many, many years. read more

I cannot stress enough how amazing Boss Salon is, and in particular, Eric. He literally changed my life. I was looking like a broke version of Bob Ross before he transformed me into a clean living mix between Tony Romo and Jim Rome. I went to Jillian when I decided it was time for a change. She took my brown hair to a perfect golden blonde balayage in 1 visit. I can't tell you how many compliments I have been getting since I left! I rarely trust anyone with my hair but since my visit with Jillian I cannot wait to go back to her next time I need a touch up. Beautiful salon with amazingly friendly, and talented staff.

I hate to give bad reviews on salons, but as I stated in another review, if I dont start leaving reviews nothing will change. The salon has limited parking in front, and I am sure there is more in the back. I had no problem finding a space mid day. I was greated quickly. The owner took me to his chair, we went over the previous mistakes made by the a stylist at another salon. He was confident that he could fix it. With layered hair, sometimes it is not until I wash and try to style to discover a bad haircut. Unfortunately it seemed as if I had two different styles one my head after getting my haircut here. The right side heavily layered and the left side had longer layers. My bangs were no longer wispy and blended but chopped. When checking out, he asked if I was leaving a tip and how much so he could enter it in. Usually the client does this on their own to avoid awkwardness. Of course I tip about 30%, but others might not and it is a tacky way to collect a tip. read more

This review is LONG overdue. I've been going to Emily Claire for probably close to 4 years now - I found her through a friend's recommendation. I've followed her from the Root to Kami Sori and now to the Boss. More significantly - and this should tell you everything you need to know about how great Emily is - I've continued to see her for my hair even AFTER moving to San Francisco 2+ years ago. Yes, I literally fly from SF to Phoenix every few months to get my hair done by Emily (in my defense, given Emily's reasonable prices and the totally outrageous prices in SF, it's often about the same cost even after the flight). There was one time a few years ago that I simply couldn't make it out to Phoenix and tried a highly-regarded place in SF, and it paled in comparison to Emily (in fact, she had to fix their work a bit the next time I saw her). After that experience, I decided that I was better off just continuing to see Emily. My natural hair is quite light blonde (maybe a level 8-9), but I bleach it to a cool platinum blonde. Bleaching hair to platinum - no matter how light your natural color may be - is no minor thing. It's really easy to screw up (we've all seen people with that gross orangey blonde color), and it's really easy to destroy your hair if done wrong. In fact, around 7 years ago, I had a disastrous experience that ended in my hair being chemically burnt off to above my ears. Since then, I've been working on rebuilding and regrowing my hair (and have also been extremely particular about who I trust to do my hair). Under Emily's care, it's grown long and remained remarkably healthy, given that I heat-style it almost daily and bleach it every 2 months. I constantly get compliments on my hair color, and despite how light it is, many people ask if it's natural (or even just assume that it is). Emily bleaches and tones it to perfection every time I see her. She also does a fantastic job with cutting and styling hair. On top of her incredible hair skills, Emily is just a genuinely wonderful person to be around - she's kind, funny, understanding, and basically everything you'd ever want in a stylist. She does book out fairly far in advance (especially for popular times like weekends/evenings - so book in advance if you need to come then!), but she always does her absolute best to accommodate my schedule when I come into town, which I really appreciate. To sum it up: Emily Claire is a hair wizard, and a fantastic human being. I can't recommend her highly enough (particularly if you live in Phoenix and don't, like me, have to cross state lines to see her). read more

I have been going to Eric Tuvale - in my opinion the Best Male Hair Stylist in Phoenix - for as long as he's been making people feel like a boss. He not only styles my hair to that of a President or movie star (I usually go for the JFK style or hybrid of that an George Clooney), he makes scheduling easy, and he accommodates me. With my busy schedule traveling for business it's hard to always connect with stylists - they all seem to carry around a large ego making their client fit in when it's convenient for them. In my situation, that style of customer service doesn't work. This makes the BOSS Salon, in my humble opinion, the classiest salon in Phoenix. With that said, you may have seen this salon is new to Phoenix. I must note, the salon is new, but the man and women that power this salon, Roxanne, Emily B. Emily Claire, Laurie, and Eric are anything but new to styling hair and treating people with the love and respect they all deserve. They have all been doing hair for a combined 46 years (as of 2017). They are more than qualified to do any hair. Including yours :) One of the greatest things you'll learn after visiting the salon, is each stylist has special techniques they've all worked hard to master over the years - from custom cuts, color, long hair to short hair, pixie, braiding, wedding and portrait hair styles, you will be entering a new world of hair and style. You will leave feeling like a new person with the confidence to take on any task that's in between you and your goal. I can't say enough about the people and the product. They all started in Phoenix together many years ago and have now launched the best salon in the greater Phoenix metro area and I will continue to visit the BOSS Salon for as long as it's humanly possible (you never know how long that good hair will last. Yesterday I had my first appointment with Eric, after stumbling across him on this site. He spent about 45 minutes consulting with me on what I'm wanting long term, what we have to do to accomplish this, and in general managing expectations. After fixing a few areas that needed immediate attention, he called it a "bang trim" and scheduled my next appointment for 4 weeks out, with no charge for this appointment. Beware this review is a bit bias. I used to work in this exact space where the boss salon is now. I am so proud to say I am now a member of the boss styling team and I couldn't be happier. Everyone at BOSS salon is so friendly, warm and extremely talented. They always make sure their customers are comfortable, and unlike other salons experiences I've had, I'm always seen at or very close to my appointment time. There's no need for me to dedicate an entire morning or afternoon because they are running behind - which I really appreciate. Again, every stylist here is wonderful, but I have to say in particular, I love my stylist, Eric. Normally I have a pretty specific cut and/or color in mind, but once in a while, I haven't a clue! I'm sure that's a stylist's nightmare Regardless, he somehow knows exactly what to do. He makes suggestions, presents me with options and what I love most is that he'll ask as many questions as it takes until he's certain we're on the same page. I always leave the salon feeling beautiful and confident... Eric's execution is truly flawless. I must add that on top of everything else, he's a genuinely amazing person. He's very interesting, easy to talk to, incredibly bright and so flipping funny... our conversations are always great, which is super cool and a total bonus! To give you an idea, he used to color my hair red and no joke, strangers would stop to comment on my hair. The nosy ones would ask, "Is it natural?" When I'd say, "No" they'd without fail, ask me for my stylist's contact info. Honest to god, I had to carry his business cards with me to make my life easier. I have no idea how he did it, but the red would somehow blend in with my natural hair color as my roots began to show. Super convenient and cost effective because it extend the amount of time I could take between colorings. I'm always THRILLED with the result and I love that my hair always looks even better than I was hoping.
