We just used them for moving! I would use them time after time. They quoted us and set everything up without a hitch. They called the confirm they were coming and even called the day of to give us a more accurate time (the weather was bad and they were running about 15 minutes behind). From booking the movers to the work itself, I give the crew a solid A+. I needed a large safe moved from my garage to my basement and a heavy dresser moved from the basement to the garage. My wife convinced me to use movers to avoid injury or damage to the house (you know, leave it to the pros). In this case, that's exactly what they were. Please do yourself a huge favor and run, run, run away from this moving company as fast as you can! They were just awful and downright dishonest. At first, they worked at a decent pace, then took long breaks and dragged to add more time to the clock. They broke the table legs and did not tell us. They put huge gouges on our beautiful tables and did not tell us. They ripped our silk velvet sofas and upholstered chairs and again, did not tell us. They have no integrity so please be careful. I heard the owner loves to sue his former clients and spends more time at the courthouses than screening his employees. My cousin highly recommended Bos Moving so I contacted the company weeks in advance and told them the apartment I was moving into requires that masks be worn. She assured me that the drivers would wear masks and not to worry. I scheduled the apartment elevator far in advance for my move. The drivers showed up to my house and said the building I'm moving into requires masks be worn and they refuse to wear them so I need to reschedule my move and turned away. I said don't leave its my moving day and they said I need to reschedule and took off in their BOS Moving Truck. Why did they bother to show up? It's a state mandate that you are required to wear masks in a residential building with common areas! The company said they would give me a discount and only took off $60 from my bill. read more

First, movers took no COVID-19 precautions. Second, they spent a considerable amount of time during the first hour complaining about how long the job was going to take - even though the job had been reviewed and quoted prior to their arrival. They complained about having to take furniture apart. So my husband ended up taking several pieces of furniture apart. I give 2 stars because everything did arrive at our new home. Otherwise, it would be just one star. Delivery of our belongings was lazy and inconsiderate. The movers did not put furniture back together - even the ones they Hayle taken apart. They couldn't even bother to put cushions back on the furniture. Instead they were in the middle of the room so that other things could not be placed in the room. The movers paid little attention to location instructions on the boxes or our verbal instructions. We found boxes for the basement in the kitchen, for the kitchen in the master bedroom and so on. One bed ended up in pieces in the middle of a living room. The complaints about the size of the Job continued throughout the move - even though they ended up taking less time than originally quoted. Had the most lovely movers today... who sadly are employed by a company who puts its own interest above that of their customer. Had a previous experience with Bos Moving when I moved up to Michigan and they unloaded my Penske truck. Could not have been more pleased, so when this move came up, of course I went right back to them. Asked Mark Bos to come out and do an estimate so I could determine if I could use a Pod or needed a larger truck. He did an in-person estimate, and assured me a 16' pod would be plenty. You can see where this is going. When Mark was here, I specifically asked if any of his men might be interested in my hiring them to drive a larger truck to Florida, and he quickly replied that none would. Fast forward to loading day. Don and Chino arrived and were absolute perfection. Fast, friendly, helpful, cheerful and GOOD! I've never seen such a tight pack before. I know my belongings will arrive across country in good condition. Sadly, the 16' Pod is several feet too small. So now, instead of an easy drive in my car down to Florida with my furbabies in comfortable seats and nicely separated, I'm going to be in a rental truck with my car towed behind and both my cat and dog in the cab with me - less than ideal is not even close to a proper description of that situation for all three of us in that truck. We will all arrive more fatigued, stressed, and emotional. Then there's the cost. I could see under-estimating if it meant more money to Mr. Bos, but it doesn't It was labor only, no equipment included. Instead, I'm out almost $2K more to rental companies than if he had estimated correctly in the first place. Not to mention both Don and Chino would have LOVED to drive my belongings in the proper-sized vehicle. So for Don and Chino 5 enthusiastic stars, but for Bos Moving and Service 1 star, as there is no excuse for a professional to so grossly underestimate space. I'm beyond disappointed. He is a great judge of employees, not so much of equipment space needs. read more

After a couple of bad experiences with other local movers (I always TRY to keep my money local) I gave these guys a shot, and they were amazing. I had Don and Chino, it was about 90 degrees out, but they kept moving (taking small breaks every hour, as was more than appropriate) They moved our whole family (3 bdrm condo to a 4 bdrm home) in just under 5 hours. They were hard workers, courteous, and respectful. And my final bill was UNDER $600. By the way, they offered to put on booties - but there was no need so I told them they didn't have to. They had everything from our 3,000 sf home on the truck in about 3.5 hours and delivered it the next day to our new home right on scheduled. I received a recommendation for BOS through my realtor. After calling around to get quotes at various companies, I decided to use BOS. Though they weren't the cheapest, they were VERY reasonable, professional and responsive. In addition, they didn't seem to have the extra fees or surcharges some of the other companies had. Being in the customer service industry myself, I realized it was probably a better route to choose BOS. Nettie did all the organizing/planning of pick-up at 2 different locations for me. She made a confirmation call a few days before the scheduled move. On the day of the move, Nettie called me to inform me the team of 3 guys were running about a half hour behind - it happens. I really appreciated the call though. Steve and 2 guys (I forgot their names :() were so friendly in introducing themselves when they arrived at the first location. They moved the items so quickly and efficiently (to include an upright piano, 2 queen beds & frames, an entertainment center, dining room set & recliner). I was in awe of their speed. Next location was a townhome which had ALOT of stairs - they didn't complain at all, though I'm sure they were exhausted. Final stop was our new house. They swept the path from the truck to the house to help avoid any "helicopters" from the maple trees in the house and placed tarps down as well. They would come in with each piece and ask where it was to be placed. An additional dining room set I had was to go in the basement but couldn't fit... the guys disassembled the table/legs with their power tools and re-set everything back up in the basement. In addition, Steve commented on how he was worried some of our furniture would ruin our wood floors. He recommended we get felt pads for our furniture before flipping it right side up. I truly appreciated their concern and advice as it's something I definitely wasn't thinking about at the time. The guys were finished in 4.5 hours which included travel time. As my boyfriend said, they "saved our relationship" - we didn't have to deal with the headaches of asking friends to help us move. Leave it to the professionals - they know what they're doing and were AMAZING & EFFICIENT in doing so. A BIG plus was how personable the team was that helped us. DEFINITELY use BOS! read more

They damaged furniture and were hard to get someone to come fix it, which fix on one piece was so bad I let the other piece (which they were ignoring) fly. They broke my grill as well. I suppose if things work out they're ok, but I didn't like the attitide of the driver and the above circumstances. Good luck. read more

UPDATE to review below: I spoke to the owner of the business today and he felt terrible about the situation. He told me that this has been a crazy month, his movers have been putting in a lot of hours and were not on their best game. He is also giving us a credit for the cost of the move. He assured me that this sort of thing is not tolerated and won't happen again. For these things, I am updating the review score. Everybody makes mistakes but good companies do what they can to make it up to their customers. Original post: Move was a nightmare. My 80 year old mother was dreading moving. She didn't want to leave her old place and she was stressed out about the prospect of moving all the stuff. She started purging stuff she didn't need months prior to the move. She began hand packing as many of her valuable mementos as she could weeks prior to the move. She hired a separate moving company to come out and move her patio furniture and garage items days before the big move. She asked Bos to come out and pack the day before the big move. She did everything she could to make the move go smoothly and still she was worried. I told her not to worry. She'd done all the right things. The day prior to the big move, the packers came out and began to pack, but then left with the job unfinished. They told my sister they would bring more packing materials and finish the next day. The next day, the movers came and said that they didn't know anything about any packing. So, they began to move stuff, loaded up the truck, but didn't take all the stuff. They got to the new place and unloaded half the stuff. When they went back to the old place, they loaded some of the stuff, but still not all of it. Then they went back to the new place. At that point, they told my sister that they were done. My sister said, but you didn't finish moving all the stuff. They told her they were only there to move the big stuff. So, my sister and her daughter drove to the old place and grabbed as much as they could, then back to the new place to unload, then back to the old place to do as much as they could, then back to the new place to unload. Fortunately, there was a contractor doing cabinets at the new place and he volunteered to help my sister unload multiple loads. The next day when my sister began to unpack, she began to discover broken items. A vintage dining table, part of a set, ended up with screw holes in it. My sister pleaded with the movers to finish the job, but they said no. When she called the next day, the owner was not available to complain to. She was told that the owner was out of town and would not be able to do anything until the following Thursday. Days went by and no one called to apologize. Finally, today the owner showed up to assess the damage. He stopped in and started to ask about the damage, but I asked him if he knew what happened the day of the move. He said he had no idea. No one even told him about our harrowing experience. I don't know if this is a one time deal or company policy, but I certainly cannot recommend these folks if you need a whole house of furniture and personal belongings moved. read more

Been thinking about this review for a little while now. Before I dive into the 1* details, let me disclaim by saying I know other people who have used this moving company and they have had nothing but good things to say - some even said it was a five star experience. However, appears that the actual moving men who moved those people were different guys than the two who botched our move. So let me start by saying that our two movers were Tom and Jim. When we made our reservation, we explained that we were moving our whole house and gave a description of the amount of stuff we had (not a lot, but filled a 1,000 sq ft house). The office staff replied that it sounded like a half day i.e. 4 hour move (note: it ended up taking 8 hours.) When the movers arrived, they noted that they would probably have to make two trips since their truck wasn't that big. Hmmm... They loaded the truck and were given the address of the destination which was less than 2 miles away. We drew a map. We asked if they wanted to follow us - even though it was super simple route. They replied no - their truck is old and stalls/breaks down; as such, they didn't want to worry about running into us. Of course, they got lost on the less than two mile journey. Two miles! We called the main office and they had trouble getting in touch with the driver. Needless to say, over 45 minutes elapsed from the time they drove by the destination the first time to the time they finally arrived. The kicker is - at the end of the day, they were extremely upset that we wanted a credit for at least a half hour. They broke a piece of furniture. Not that they told us. They tried to hide it by putting the broken part against a wall. At one point, they tried to open the rear door of their van, but something of ours was stuck on the door. Rather than try to reach in and free it, they just kept yanking and our item kept getting bashed around. They were rude (mostly Tom). They complained. They didn't listen to where we wanted things moved. And we didn't deserve their attitude - we treated them very well - in fact, we were very polite the entire time. We even bought them lunch plus gave them a tip. What a mistake. P.S. We called the office to complain - they said the manager would call us back, but we never heard from anyone. Icing. read more

I've moved many times and this company was by far the worst. They totally underbid and ended up costing close to $500 more than they originally estimated. At least one of their guys was high on the job. They moved things into the wrong location (even though everything was clearly marked). They didn't wrap any furniture (and I have antiques) and they damaged multiple things. One sink was never found (they must have broken it and never said so). They left a TON of stuff at the old house, requiring multiple trips back to the old house and multiple apologies to the new homeowner. I would NOT RECOMMEND this company. Go with one that may bid a bit higher but will guarantee their estimate and not send guys who are high on the job. read more

Like Annie B I also don't understand the negative reviews. BOS didn't put on white gloves and booties for me, and they did not roll out a red carpet on my floor. However, if you expect that for a move, you better be paying at least triple per hour what these guys charge. After hearing horror stories about other movers I asked my realtor for a good company and she referred these guys. Don and I think Paul (sorry guys- its been a few weeks and I forgot) were very personable, and from what I could tell did not bump or damage anything. They were courteous to my kids and wife. They had a lot of tricks to keep items from getting damaged, and moved quickly. The price was fair, and although it was 2 hours more than was quoted, I also asked them to do a lot of extra moving (entire garage) at the old house, and move a lot of furniture that the owners left behind at the new house. If I had to do it over again I would have paid the higher hourly rate to have a third person. Hindsight is 20/20 though. Overall these guys were great. I would for sure recommend them. read more

I have used BOS for two previous moves. My third experience was, well, botched. The packer was great even though his 2 helpers did not show up. Bruce was able to do all the packing himself by working really hard and fast. The next day the truck was scheduled to arrive around 9 or so. The truck had broken down and did not arrive until around noon. Most importantly, the job was not sized correctly, even though I told them the size and number of rooms. The move needed two trucks. I was then told "we can not send a second truck for 7 days, sorry we are booked up." 7 days! So we spent the 7 days stranded between two houses with no set up beds in either. Spent a few nights in a hotel. The clearly labeled boxes were not placed in the correct rooms. Most stacked in garage and basement. Still looking for things! The final straw was the end cost was about 3 times of the estimate. Can no longer recommend. read more

Absolutely refused to wear masks. If I had known this, I would have set things up accordingly so that we did not have to be in close contact. Bos, just be honest when you are setting up the appointment. I understand you can't lift and work with the masks, but make homeowners aware ahead of time. We just moved into our new home yesterday after being moved by Bos Moving. What an exceptional group of movers. They used 2 trucks, and packed them to the gills. Only one thing broke, and it was cast iron which can be brittle. They are going to repair it. They worked from 10AM to 10PM, and moved us out and in during a 12 hour period. Anything we asked of them they did promptly and without question. As they were getting ready to leave after 12 hours of work, I opened my car to unload it, and they came over and asked if they could help. They were reasonably priced, very efficient in their packing and moving, and genuinely nice people. Can't say enough about them, and appreciate all their hard work. read more

Bos moved my Mother from her West Bloomfield condo to her new apartment in Rochester Hills on New Year's Eve. Our driver Terry and his assistant Joe were great guys. They were on time, courteous and very professional. We had packed everything ourselves so they only had to load and unload the truck. They hardly paused to take a break the whole day. The whole move was completed in less time than they estimated so the final charge was under the estimate. We recommend Bos and will use them again in the future. read more

I'm shocked reading so many of these negative reviews! We just recently moved out of my parents home into a two bedroom, third floor apartment. It was an easy move as we had everything packed and ready to go in the garage, including furniture that was already disassembled. Mostly because we didn't want to break the bank. We were estimated for 4 hours. 105 service fee plus 91/hour for the weekend. Don and Eric were our movers (I think don... Might have been John). They were very personable right off the bat. They were extremely efficient and moved everything into the truck within 25 minutes. Then we were off to the apartment which was roughly 25 minutes away. When we got there we apologized for the inconvenience of a third floor apartment. They assured us it was no problem and got to work. We told them they didn't need to even put the boxes in the right rooms, we'd take care of it. They insisted. All the while, asking about my fiancé and I, asking about our son. Asking about our jobs. Just two, genuinely kind and professional men! It ended up being a shorter job than even I expected. Total was less than 500 for 3.5 hours. Moral of the story? If you treat people kindly and like human beings not just "the help" you're going to obtain a much better result! read more

Although the person answering the phone demanded to know my name, she never identified herself to me. After stating my need, which is moving heavy furniture within my home, she barked the cost at me in a tone that said, "That's it!!! Take it or leave it!" She told me they could come to my home 'tomorrow'. Did not ask when I needed the service, which was not 'tomorrow'. I recently used BOS for my move out of my 1 BR apt. to a 3BR house. The experience was really great. They had been recommended to me by a real estate agent who said she recommends them to anyone she meets, so now I have the pleasure of returning the favor. The two gentlemen who moved all my things were very personable and made everything so easy for me. They were incredibly polite, friendly, and professional from start to finish. And because they were so fast and efficient, they came in below my original quote. Aside from the physical experience, the online quote and booking was a breeze too. I went on their website to get a quote and got a phone call from their office assistant the very next morning. The woman who helped me book my move was very friendly, and courteous. I wish I could elect zero stars. I hate this company. I want to like them, as they're locally based and everyone I have talked to has been pleasant and polite. Screw pleasant and polite. You do not get to take advantage of people by smiling and apologizing. The first time I used this company, I informed them I would be moving a one bedroom flat into a house. The flat was an upper, which they were warned of. They were also warned that I had lived at the flat for over three years, and had made myself at home. They were warned to consider it more of a "one bedroom house" move than an apartment. Of course, they knew better, and my quoted price of $300+ wound up in me being charged $700+. I was furious. I was also exhausted, so I only complained on a minor scale. Nothing was ever done. Luckily, they didn't break anything. A friend arranged to use them for a second move. We were told someone would be there at noon. The day before it was pushed back to two p.m. Day of, an hour or two at a time, we were repeatedly contacted and eventually informed that someone would be over at 8:00 p.m. There was a nasty tirade left on the office line and we cancelled. They called back the next day offering doses of apologies. We begrudgingly rescheduled. I left work early today so that I could be home, at 3:00 p.m., to greet the movers. They're already called and said they will not be here until 5:00 p.m. I will never use this company again. I can't believe I'm paying for this. read more

This was my first time ever hiring movers, and Steve & Danny at BOS were AMAZING! They were professional, fast, and none of our stuff was damaged. The office staff was also very helpful and responsive when I called to book. Steve & Danny moved all of our furniture and heavy boxes in less than 4 hours, including the 30-40 minute drive time between places. STAY AWAY FROM THESE MOVERS! I have a hard time believing this company could provide good service to anyone! We hired them to move large items only. The move was 8 miles and they failed miserably moving an executive and his wife. I heard from the crew members twice that they typically don't do moves like this. What? What do you do then? The owner Mark Bos came out to estimate the move. 1. They were late. 2. Upon their drive to my home, I was asked if it was OK to bring another helper, which would increase the cost of the move. (I scheduled them months in advance). 3. They provide NO FLOOR PROTECTION!! 4. They did NOT listen to what we were telling them about the best entrance/exit to use. 5. RESULT: Broke/damaged a major property item. Common sense was NOT applied at all. 6. RESULT: The crew members argued and cursed at each other the rest of the day. 7. Lifted several large items WITHOUT checking for contents inside. Terrible! 8.They will NOT manage furniture parts for anything. Even if you provide tools and baggies. 9. Protect you kids ears, FOUL MOUTH. 10. FAILED to listen to my instruction to use an allen wrench to remove the top portion of the treadmill. This resulted in damage to the curved stairwell and the treadmill. 11. They were consistently worried about the length of time it would take to move us because they had a long drive to get back home. What? 12. Hooting and hollering throughout the day which stressed us even more. Unprofessional. 13. Threw cigarette buts and drink bottles on the ground and left them. 14. Saw them many times RUNNING with my furniture. YES, RUNNING! 15. The "lead man" in charge was playing a game of tug-of-war with a tall bookcase and initiating a fight with the other driver. They nearly hit the freshly painted loft ceiling with the bookcase. 15. BROKE and DAMAGED many items and DID NOT TELL US. 16. They "hoped we were good tippers." You want a tip after this damage and grief? 17. Drove to fast up the driveway curb, wow. 18. Lead man felt he needed to exude superiority and thought it was OK to dolly my $2780 stainless steel Samsung refrigerator into the garage from THE FRONT (which has a plastic piece on the bottom). Another crew member and myself said NO, it's not worth it, please don't! You can also scratch the hell out of the front with the metal dolly that only has tape on it to protect furniture. I now see it DOES have a scrape on it. WHO'S fixing that now?!! The day was going so terribly (especially after the major damage event took place upon their arrival) I called the office to say, "these guys better straighten out their act! I can't stand this!" Also, why the hell would you arrive at this expensive home with NO PLAN to protect the hardwood floors or carpet? They put ONE blanket at the entrance. Hey Bos Movers, a blanket on hardwood floors moves and slides, and therefore is NOT SAFE! Be ware, they simply don't care about your items or your flooring! I take great care of my items and search high and low over many years to obtain these nice pieces. About 15 items were damaged or broken. A night stand must have fallen a long way in the truck as it was missing the front wood edges and totally scrapped beyond repair!!! Damaged antiques (not replaceable), dented a steel safe! How do you dent a steel safe? Oh, not to mention that the lead man "was not sure if he has tools in the truck to take apart the beds" and asked us for tools!! WHAT? I even provided labeled zippered bags for parts in each room. I took pictures of these bags they left on the floor when they pulled away. HOW were you going to reassemble anything if you won't track the parts?? The owner, Mark Bos had to come out and assess the damage at the old house and new house and damage to my items. I emailed a list of all the damage. He did not read it prior to coming out. Upon his arrival he says, "I don't know anything, they just sent me." YOU are the owner, take responsibility for your employees! Then he started to question whether or not his crew did the major exterior damage. I had to remind him several times, YES they did, I saw it happen!! After telling him the horrors of the move, he simply looked at me with a blank face, nothing. Several promised phone calls never happened as we tried to resolve this issue over 2 months. Mark claimed to have a few different guys that repaired furniture. WHY? How long are repairs going to take and how long is this nightmare going to drag on? I asked for a refund of $700 for the damage and I would deal with the repairs on my own, the owner (Mark Bos) refused and claimed he had to "ask his wife", delaying the process. Used for an interior move, and these guys were fast, efficient, courteous, and careful. Excellent communication and they even motivated my daughter to join the fun by cleaning under her furniture (which was probably the worst mess these fine gentlemen ever saw). Sure wish I would have read these reviews before hiring this company. My experience was so similar. The first strike against them was the fact that the majority of the crew showed up reeking of marijuana. I would estimate that 4 out of 5 were completely wasted. They were extremely delayed in getting form one location to the next. My 8 hour move turned into an 11 hour move. Could this be because when one is stoned that one moves at a slower pace? Items were damaged and missing. When I went back to former residence I discovered that there were 2 car loads of items left behind that I had to move myself. Additionally, there was garbage thrown in the yard of both homes. Coffee cups, pop cans, cigarette butts (I quit counting after I picked up 30) and debris from lunch, paper plates, napkins. By the way, I bought lunch. Employee in charge of this crew was rude, disrespectful and attempted to intimidate me when I complained about the additional time on my bill. My teenage son had to step in to tell him that he couldn't talk that way to me. Management did not get back with me until I canceled their check. Even then it still took him over a week to get out to my house to discuss damages. My move occurred 6 weeks ago and still I have not heard back as to how they are going to come up with or replace my missing item. Management's response to broken items was "they still work." No repair or replacement offered. read more

One year ago I used BOS on a recommendation from an acquaintance who has used them twice. I was very fond of men who moved my stuff, unfortunately they damaged my almost brand new LG French door refrigerator, and a wood kitchen table. Got ridiculous run around from Mark and ladies that answer phone, told me for over 4 months that the doors to my refrigerator we're ordered but were on back order. About the 5th month of run around and lies I decided to call channel 7's Call For Action line. Once they contacted BOS it was a true blue miracle my doors were in. ( p.s. I realize that could be true but I know it's not I called LG parts myself with model number they were available). So nearly 6 months later Mark comes and installs my freezer door, but pretends he knows nothing about the left hand door being damaged (he came out the week of move and seen all damage and said he'd contact their insurance company and get back to me). They had a wood fixer guy come out after Call For Action contacted them. Mark and I came to a financial settlement over the last refrigerator door. For the last couple months the office stopped returning my calls. It was such an awful, frustrating experience. read more
