Mover who refused to wear a mask and was assured by Corrigan General Mgr would not be entering our home.

Had an unfortunate experience with Corrigan this Summer and I provide this information to make others aware of safety issues we had with Corrigan complying with their promise of keeping all safe during our move during COVID-19. They would wear face masks, and take recommended precautions to minimize risk. Was referred to Corrigan from family and friends who relayed they had good experiences. We were concerned of safety precautions in moving during COVID -19;and were assured by their salesperson as well as information given and on their website ,the entire crew would be wearing face masks as well as other measures. When the crew arrived at our old home and were not wearing face masks I asked the crew chief if they would be wearing them at which time another crew member told me he didn't even have a face mask. Crew chief then asked if in areas of the house where we were not present that this could be relaxed as it gets hot for the crew(high was 70 degrees that day) I was okay with this, until after a bit few if any of the five member crew were wearing face masks at all and they were now continually near my wife and I. Once they arrived at our new home I immediately spoke with the crew chief and told him we were not comfortable with them not wearing face masks at which point I was told that they never do. Additionally 2 of the 5 member crew absolutely refused to wear face masks. At this point I asked that this gets resolved as this was unacceptable. After about a 45 minute halt at which time I tried to reach our salesperson and talked with the move coordinator who again informed of what Corrigan's policy for COVID-19 safety measures is and crew would be wearing face masks. Their solution was to have the 2 crew members who refused to wear masks bring items from the truck to the front door. When I spoke with the general manager I was informed they would treat this like a move during the rain or heavy snowfall. So, I was to pay for potentially extended time and a 5 member crew, even though only three of them could fully work. I was assured by the General Manager this was how they would do this and the two crew members would not enter the house and accommodation they would make is to not charge me for 45 minutes the crew was idle-why would they charge me. Found this insulting at best. Once they started moving into the house the 2 crew members who refused to wear masks and as was told were to leave items at the front door did not comply and were coming into our home without masks in close proximity to us as we were directing where items were to be placed. After this fight all day to be protected safely I put this matter to rest other than sending our salesperson an e-mail the next day with a summation of this terrible experience and attached a picture of crew members not wearing masks while in my new home. Only at that point did Corrigan reach out and rather than deny it, acknowledged our safety concerns. They did give a discount on the move(never asked for ), unfortunately this did not make up for unnecessary stress due to the lack of safety on their part. Was told Corrigan 's moving personnel would be putting nto practice COVID safety procedures they promote to protect their customers. Only reason for posting this is I hope this never happens to anyone else.

Two guys showed up with a huge truck; took about 2 hours to load and drove the 60+ miles to my new home. I explained that I would have to leave before they finished, so I could drive back to Dearborn in the daylight (eyesight issues). That's when it all fell apart. I went back the next day to find plastic wrap strewn around the house, leaves all over the inside of the house, items left wrapped, a dirty bathroom and smoke smell. I contacted Fordson, and was told a slew of lies the worker told him; He said I told them not to enter the garage, FALSE. He said he couldn't find anywhere to dispose of the plastic wrap - THERE WAS A GARBAGE CAN IN THE DRIVEWAY NEXT TO THEIR TRUCK, I was told they aren't responsible for cleaning up after the job. I told Fordson I felt taken advantage of, being alone and older, and that his employee was lying. They made no accommodation and essentially blew me off once they were paid. My Advise: WATCH THEM EVERY MINUTE and make sure a man is around. They will lie and cheat and take advantage of a single woman. BEWARE.

In fact, I'm on Yelp right now looking up their information to hire them again and realizing I forgot to submit this well-deserved review from back in April. So, I'm happy to finally be getting that done for them.

I spoke to Clarence who identified himself not as the owner but as the manager (more on that…read morelater). The initial Red Flag was during the conversation I mentioned the need for certain documentation from him to go forward (Basically licensing information, and Insurance Information) as asking for a Certificate of Insurance (COI) is INDUSTRY STANDARD for a move like this. I received IMMEDIATE Push Back and was told that I didnt need said information and that I could get his licensing and bonding information from LARA (Michigan Licensing And Regulatory Affaris) which I did: [Federal License: They hold a valid federal license under USDOT #2303845] and their other license [They are registered as a domestic profit corporation in Michigan (ID: 800705051)] What i couldn't get is Bonding and or the COI ...which i need to protect ny inventory and myself from damage, and or loss. As I said this is Industry standard. I explained this to Clarence and was told that I would recieve that information at a later time after further discussions. Fast forward I talked to Clarence yesterday to confirm that he would recieve an inventory list by no later than close of Business today 5/8/2026 !! He's assured me at the time of our last phone call that that was suitable. We stayed late into the evening yesterday creating an itemized inventory list for Clarence.....only to be told today that he couldn't do it because he has another big move scheduled for "The Government" i dont know how true this is but I find it highly suspicious that 1) he did t call this morning to let us know that he couldn't complete the move which most assuredly could be the case......but in the name of professionalism and the time we have spent on the phone wouldn't it be standard to let us know? Secondly in MY OPINION I think he didnt like the verbiage that was used in the inventory email j. That it specifically asked again for the COI, and ending information as is STANDARD in this business. in our first conversation he told me that he had never been asked for that type of information before and I explained to him at that point, that when doing business with multi million dollar businesses you have to do everything right, he then went kn to tell me how many rich people from the lions and mentioned doing a move for the Taubman estate etc....which is fine but asking for a COI is standard......I feel as if Clarence is operating without being Bonded or without the proper insurance to protect not only the belongings of my company but of anybody he is moving. Again this is my opinion based off of my conversations with him and his subversive responses. He may very well have these very important documents and insurance im not saying that he doesn't what I am saying is that people need to be careful. He has cause me to lose valuable time. I did however call another moving company who gave me without question the documents that I asked for and I am looking forward to this move albeit at a higher price than expected. I would simply like to remind Mr. Clarence (Still dont know why he didnt identify himself as the owner instead of making it appear as he was someone else employed there) thay doing good business is paramount to being g considered great in the business world I own a Mortage company and a Real Estate Brokerage the referrals alone could have netted you a an upwards of six additional figures a year... but you moved Mr. Taubman so maybe you didnt need the business we could have thrown your way. People be very careful and cross all "T's" and dot all "I's" Time was wasted here and after reading the reviews on here and on Google as well as further research I now understand why MY Response to His Response: Sir at NO TIME, ot ONCE, have said anything Negative about YOU or Your Business what I did HONESTLY and EFFECTIVELY was communicate my experience with your business. What I did attempt to do is offer some of what I hoped would be deemed as valuable feed back from one Black Business owner to another. As far as me claiming to be a CEO I never stated that; What I DID say was that I am a success bussineman. As far as me being a disgruntled ex or former employee... sir I can surely attest to you that we do not know each other nor have we ever met outside of the few conversations that we had. What I can tell you is this: I tried to use this as a learning experience for you, your business and for the consumer who doesn't think about things like insurance that movers are supposed to have when moving their belongings personal or professional and what amount of liability is covered in the case of property being damaged, lost or stolen and how to protect themselves as well as trying to help you with the refinement of your communication skills. I felt that I was obligated as a black professional to make sure I did my due diligence to help you better yourself and your business as others have done for me jn the same context

You will not overpay, waste time or get people who don't know what they're doing. University quoted me a minimum 4 hour job w/2 men to move items out of a 10 x 15 storage unit in Southfield to a new 1 bed/1 bath 2nd floor apartment in Farmington Hills. They showed up on time and had everything moved into the moving trucks within 1 hour. They moved all the items requested in addition to extra stuff and competently placed them in my apartment; including some assembly. These gentlemen not only optimized their time by taking the shortest route to the destination; but when we got to my apartment... the Operations Manager showed up while they were working to ensure the job was being done right! He extended me his business card, wanted to know my level of satisfaction and left the premises with my smile in tow! The movers left with time to spare.... everything neatly placed and no extra cost to speak of - PROFESSIONAL. The first movers I used were: Top Notch Moving Solutions in Livonia - I can't say enough to warn people not use this company. The owner was a liar who failed to honor his word and then became indignant when I complained. He didn't care if I ever came back. Nobody will tell me I pulled the "race" card of this company - because I am black! The driver, movers, the owner - reckless, slow, didn't provide an accurate quote and charged me twice the price. Don't walk from Top Notch - RUN. Thank you University Movers for making this an exemplary experience.

First, the company has learned the loophole where they only have to "respond," which in their case involves lying, and the BBB will give them points for this action, even while noting the customer remains unhappy. This is how a company with their terrible record and all of their complaints still has a B. Hooray! Nothing works anymore. So, yeah, we had a pretty awful experience with them failing to deliver our property within the estimated acceptable range (by several days), but they offered a per diem or reimbursement for things we'd need to buy in order to make it without our stuff (within reason). Ok, cool, we can understand things happen, but... then we never received the promised check, even after they promised the payment had been approved and was in the mail. And really, the 5 days per diem was fairly worthless as, at that point, we'd gotten our things and found several that had been dismantled and rebuilt improperly or missing pieces, etc. I made a complaint with the BBB and UMS ignored them until the BBB gave up and closed the file. I thought I'd finally blocked out the memory of this entire nightmare (I've left so much out so you have a chance to read it all today), but then got the notice from the BBB that the company had finally responded (after 3 years!), which said they'd delivered within the established range, apologized for difficulties, and given us remedies... but none of that was true. And the BBB responded to me saying these were lies by saying "so sorry, but we're going to close the file (again) and say the company responded to you and you still weren't happy." But the BBB grading system gives them points for this!! So, yeah, it's all a farce. Just burn your stuff and buy new things when you get to your new city.

Poor business etiquette Poor customer service…read morePoor loading Inexperienced movers As someone who worked in client service for 6 years with the number one mortgage lender AND who presently works with the public on a regular basis, I would not refer anyone to utilize perfection moving company. I hired a moving company in an attempt to alleviate the stress that comes with moving. After my experience, I wish I had gone with another company. My complaint is in the way the owner (Terry Crenshaw) spoke to me several times during the move AND the fact that all of my belongings were not moved. At the beginning of the move, he added on an additional $45 "long haul" charge because my apartment door was (per his estimate) 40-50 ft from the loading area, which I was not advised of a "long haul charge" during the initial call, but I was fine with. He and the two movers he had with him began moving items- I was preparing the things I needed to take in my car and helong my sister finish her own packing. The first incident occurred approximately 45m into the move, he randomly steps in my sisters room, where we were working, and stated my fee only included 2 people and he, as a 3rd body, was helping as a courtesy (he also mentioned having just had surgery and how he should not be working but was doing me a favor); I informed him I was not told this during the initial call and that he could simply have the 2 people with him move me. Terry had on sunglasses and during this exchange, I was gathering items to move and organize, he then steps in my face and takes them off and demands that I look in his eye. I directly advised I would not be looking at his eye and asked him to finish the move. Terry became very irrate and hostile, calling me disrespectful because he was 66 (I am in my mid 30s) and I was "talking back" and said he would take all of my things off of the truck (after already having received a deposit) because he was "trying to help his people". (As an HBCU graduate, I wanted to support a black business so to be told HE was helping me, was off-putting since I was paying him for a service.) I advised I needed movers today and asked him to finish the job. As the move continued I called for support because I figured I needed a males presence because his tone was extremely hostile, rude and condescending. Once MOST of the items were on the truck, I went to go and look. I had my phone out to take a photo as a way to document and remember my move day and he asked me not to record him, his grandson and his grandson's friend (the 2 movers), which I agreed & advised that I would like to take a photo of my belongings, he said he would send me a photo (the photo was never sent). After this, anytime I had my phone out he would yell at me to not take pictures or record, which I was not. Apart from the interactions with Mr. Crenshaw, he also did not move all of my belongings (which after seeing how the truck was packed, am certain it was because of poor loading). Please do your research and be aware in your intial call if you do decide to hire him. I personally will not be a returning customer and have recommended my friends/family to not use his services either. The signs were there in the initial call when he tried to "warn me" to not use movers who had worked under him and started their own business AND when he asked me for my credit card information over the phone (poor business etiqutte). I had to request an invoice to send my deposit. I was in a rush, but I hope by leaving this review I can help someone else avoid the physical (I ended up moving my own items at the end to hurry them along because more time was being wasted and the movers he had did not seem experienced), emotional, and mental stress I had with this company and specifically Terry Crenshaw himself. After the move- my father called and spoke with Mr Crenshaw and there was no accountability as a business owner on the poor service he provided. Yes MOST of my items were moved, however, after the interaction, I can say I really wish I had gone with another, more professional, company, even if it cost me more. (Mr. Crenshaw initially quoted me $660 for a 2 bedroom apartment and 3 hours, a company prior quoted me $590 so he went down to $580 and I ended up paying $725 in total because after "arguing at me" time had been added on; an additional hour to be exact) (His grandson and his friend, while seeminly inexperienced, were pleasant young men and I do wish them all of the best)
