The food is great... The older server lady was rad and a good employee. The bartender was more into chopping it up with her friends (see pic)... I know it wasn't too busy tonight but thats not good service any way you cut it. It was a group of servers (not sure if they all work there but all servers) at the end of the bar and the bartender paid me no attention. Also these fools were talking bad about customers who had just left and really chatty amongst themselves. Wonder what they said bad about me when I left... would recommend this place based on the food but the gossip club at the end of the bar were lame people. Talking bad about customers who just left is a weak thing to do... The blonde/brunette bartender was more concerned about what her friends/coworkers were saying than actually working. I wont be back with that kind of service. If the owner or manager is reading this I wouldnt let other servers hang out and distract the bartender. I had been told this is the place to go for pasta in town. It's not. The breadsticks were hard as a rock, the salad was 90% lettuce cores, and the pasta had absolutely no flavor whatsoever. Where do I begin... I love this place for so many reasons! I have been coming here since I was a little kid and it hasn't changed. Not even the decor, which is part of the thing I love about it. It's a nostalgia thing. It has a mom and pop, old school, small town feel like no other. It's been around for 75 years with the same recipes as long as I can remember! There sauce is meaty and truly one of a kind! One of the only places that serves homemade beef raviolis! My go to meal! Or get the half and half (spaghetti and ravs) and have the best of both worlds! The portions are huge! I get a large and have plenty for lunch the next day! And the basket of to-die-for breadsticks and butter is one of my favorite parts! $71 for four burgers and two orders of fried ravioli? That's what was on the bill when we went to pick up our takeout order. We had asked to substitute baked potato for the standard French fries (which are usually below average), which we had done before with no problem and no charge. Turns out that this time they decided to charge us an extra $2.25 for each potato. After waiting 15 minutes for the staff to find the manager (and for our food to get cold), we asked about the charge. She gave us $10 out of the cash register and told us that we need to be aware that next time there will be a charge. We were at Borries last night to celebrate a family occasion as we always do and we're not disappointed. Borries is a family tradition and especially on prime rib night! Borrie's has faced some criticism in other reviews for not fitting the writers' expectations of an Italian restaurant. But they've mistaken its kind. This is actually an Italian-American steakhouse, a once-common type of joint that's since probably mostly gone extinct in more urbane places than the industrial exurbs of Great Falls. An Italian-American steakhouse has a menu consisting of basic all-American steaks plus chicken and fish for those who prefer that, with a few basic Italian-American side dishes: spaghetti, ravioli, minestrone. My T-bone steak was huge, the biggest I had in Montana (meanwhile, the woman at the next table who'd ordered fried chicken was exclaiming in astonishment at the huge pile of it she got), deeply thick cut, and undercooked - a surprise from any steak restaurant. As a hunk of beef flesh, it was more hearty than exquisite, and rather chewy. If you order fried shrimp (which you can get as a side with the steak), they're coated in the sort of thick batter that used to characterize Chinese-American greasy spoons. Quick lesson on beef is in order. It is graded into 3 grades by the USDA: Prime, Choice, and Select. Prime beef is top grade, and only ~3% of all beef makes this grade. Choice is what you usually see most places. Considering how tough my porterhouse was, even the filet side, and the ridiculous amount of fat and gristle in it, I think I just ate my first Select grade steak in years. The only thing I had good here was the minestrone soup. The salad was an iceberg lettuce affair dated to the 1970's. The house dressing was nasty, tasted like steak sauce. Baked potato was cafeteria grade, and to add insult to injury the steaks are cooked on a flat top. The staff was friendly, but that is not going to overcome being served the worst steak I've had in recent memory. read more

My sister and I went here for dinner this weekend for the first time in years! Service was EXCELLENT! Ravioli was divine and perfectly priced. Doubt I will be going back. Italian food with no hint of garlic in the dishes. Very disappointing. Had the Fried Ravioli. Tasted a bit doughy, maybe undercooked. Shrimp cocktail is right. Oh Boy, where do I start. This place is a must must go to place. It's not a "Fancy" place, it's a historic place to go and have a fantastic experience combined with phenomenal food. Pick the steak, choose the shrimp, order the Italian sauce food, it doesn't matter what you order it's all first class amazing food that is actually under priced for what you get. So bad! I literally thought my ravioli were filled with refried beans. The "famous" spaghetti tastes like its from a can. Dry disgusting breadsticks are left on the table all night and not changed when a customer leaves and a new one sits at the table. There could not have been less care put into the dinner salad. Ended up spending almost $160.00 for my family of 7. My 15 year old grand daughter ordered " Butter Noodles" as she doesn't like the spaghetti sauce ( I suspect the taste very well-not sweet enough). She was served a plate of spaghetti that was laying on melted butter...I guess spaghetti are considered a noodle, but I certainly wasn't prepared for a $17.00 charge for them I ordered Pan Fried Chicken...and was ok with the 45 minute wait as I knew that they would taste "special". They arrived burnt badly (dark brown to black coating). The meat was tough and over cooked but I didn't ask for a re-do because my meal had already caused the family to wait a long time for me to be served. The shrimp ,y wife had, the burger and BLT that the other kids had were fine and were eaten without a problem. When I complained about the charge for the spaghetti, our server said "it is what it is", but did take $2 off the total. I live 100 miles from Borries, but try to eat their two or three times a year when I am in Great Falls. I guess I will have to find a new place to take my family...a place that listens to my concerns and acts upon them. read more

Is it is 1982???? No it is not. Food has progressed and changed in the last 30 years, except here where it is still 1982. The best part of the meal was the minestrone soup. It was very good. The iceberg lettuce salad is straight out of the 80's. They score very low on the creativity level here. My porterhouse was not seasoned at all. They put A1 and Heinz 57 on the table. That in itself is an embarrassment. Also, the bartender did not know the difference between any of the beers on tap. This place doesn't seem to have changed from decades ago. We would go there for spaghetti and ravioli, and for chicken, back then, and that seems to be their specialty now. If you are looking for a trendy, modern place, you probably would not be happy here. Those who visit again and again love the food. I had not been to this place for years, and enjoyed a recent visit. The spaghetti and raviolis are different than typical - the raviolis and sauce are meat based (from different region than most people are used to). Not cheese raviolis. I could be partial to Borries because I grew up last 40 years loving this establishment with relatives passed and present. I recommend the spaghetti and ravioli (half and half). The sauce is different like a darker brown sauce. I am thinking a little Worcestershire. You either like it or you don't. Many buy quarts of it to go. Also recommend any of the steaks and lobster. Go for the toasted raviolis, stay for the fried chicken and spaghetti. We're not talking authentic Italian spaghetti- but these noodles have a sauce that is comforting as all get out. As far as I'm concerned, this is one of the two best restaurants in Great Falls. read more

Well. This is my third and last time to Borri's. I was here for a couple of business meetings and thought it would be better if I came in alone. NOT. The food is terrible. The bread sticks are terrible. The steak was mostly fat, and the salad dressing had been in the serving bowl so long it was brown around the sides. Open Borries doors and arrive 75 years in the past with an old time western feel, think CM Russell art. The waitresses were very friendly and patient. Eat recipes that have changed very little from this 3rd generation establishment. I wasn't a fan of the hard breadsticks reminded me of those sticks found with a package of dipping cheese. The ribs and steak were amazing, the Italian food is unique to anything I've had before at a restaurant. Expect to pay in the 12 plus range per person. I had the half and half small ravioli and rotini and added one rib for 2.50. I've eaten at the oldest restaurant in the world, El Botin and think this place will make think you were in you grandparents shoes. read more

Yummy! This place has been in business and owned by the same family since 1938. The atmosphere is casual with just a hint of upscale. The artwork and photographs around the restaurant are very nice, especially the western pieces behind the bar. The food is very good, albeit, quite unique. Do not go expecting traditional Italian. Get the minestrone soup and the ravioli (I would skip the spaghetti/pasta as you should save room for the good stuff) with their special brown sauce, which is some sort of a northern Italian sauce with a taste of Montana. It is very wholesome, there's nothing else like it. We were there on a Tuesday and my husband had prime rib special, which was HUGE and oh so good. My mom liked her steamed shrimp dinner with baked potato. Good to know there are some decent healthy options on the menu. Their bread sticks are not like those at the olive garden but we liked them. The service was good. It seems like a lot of the staff have been working there for many years. Be sure to bring your appetite or be prepared to take a to-go box with leftovers, the portions are really large. Good prices for what you get. read more
