This is the best Mexican food in Cascade County. My wife and I eat here frequently and the reason we eat here frequently is because it's simply the very best. The food is also consistently delicious and the service is consistently friendly and prompt. The atmosphere is upbeat with Mexican music playing. It has an ambiance that creates a comfortable environment sitting and talking with friends or loved ones while enjoying authentic Mexican food. I've noted some of the low reviews and they generally seem to be posted by people traveling through. I can only say I am not originally from Great Falls. I grew up all over the world. I began eating Tex-Mex as an 8 year old in San Antonio, Texas. If that doesn't form a person's palate for what true Tex-Mex tastes like, then nothing will. La Cocina's kitchen staff knows exactly what they're doing and they do a great job. Sure, it might not be as spicy as one might find in San Antonio, but the spices used are exceptionally flavorful and appropriate, especially for Great Falls clientele, which, after all, is the target customer base. If you're as adventurous as I am and just like eating something super spicy, they provide El Yucateco Chile Habanero sauce right at the table! The food is served piping hot every time. So I will say the service was great and quick! The ambiance is lovely makes you feel like you're being immersed in a palate of colors! The food was very subpar, I wasn't impressed, but coming from a big city to a small city I didn't have high expectations, they could use just a little bit more seasoning on the meats and I think it will take the restaurant to the next level! Recently passed through the area and a local citizen recommended this restaurant because she said most establishments don't season their food. Well I quickly learned that neither did this restaurant with potential. They do not have a liquor license but you can get a delicious mango flavored wine, yes wine margarita. It was way better than the three steak tacos and overcooked rice I tried. I went on a weekday and it got busy some patrons walked out after waiting to order. Another very good lunch in this bright, clean facility. The Chimichanga mi jefa had was crisp and flavorful. I can't remember what my meal was, but it was also really good. It was a beef stuffed tortilla with a spicy red sauce that really elevated this dish to a "much better than an enchilada" level. AMAZING! We moved here almost two years ago and have not been able to find any good Mexican food. We have been around to many in Great Falls that others have recommended. We stumbled onto La Cocina, we didn't even know it was there. We walked in and it looked inviting, the service was friendly, and most of all the food was absolutely delicious. Always prompt service from waitstaff. Carne Asada burrito is our go to. Their salsa is medium and full of cilantro, onions, etc. very good flavor. Will take off the extra cheese topping that some dishes are smothered in, if requested. Not too sure about their alcoholic drinks. Both times we visited we ordered regular lime Margarita's on the rocks and the drinks were clear and no flavor of tequila or lime. Just like drinking a glass of simple syrup. This restaurant is fairly new to Great Falls locally owned and the food is fantastic and very reasonably priced and the salsa they serve with the chips is absolutely amazing and they have a choice of red salsa or green salsa. That's a little bit more spicy than the red, but it is all good and definitely worth trying if you're in the Great Falls area. read more

Corn or flour tortillas available. Comes with beans (melted cheese on top) and rice. The refried beans were basic but the cheese made it taste better. Rice was edible but lacked flavor. The table had tapatio and yucateco salsa so that was awesome. Service: Service was great. The woman helped us when we asked and passed by a few times to check on us. If I could give zero stars, I would. My husband convinced me to give this restaurant another try. We went in, saw a sign that said to wait to be seated. We waited for 10 minutes to be seated. The one and only waitress that was working looked at us but never acknowledged our presence, nor did she call out to the other 2 waitresses to come help her with customers. The service was good but the food was pretty mid. I was not very pleased with the Birria tacos they were pretty flavorless. Also the tortillas completely fell apart and I ended up having to eat the tacos with a fork. Also I have never been to a Mexican restaurant that did not offer Queso for the chips but the salsa was still good just doesn't hit like the Queso. The food is abysmal, the ground beef has an industrial taste to it with a vinegary after taste, my taco was soggy from the grease in the meat, it soaked completely through one side of the taco shell. The enchiladas had no sauce, no flavor, my husband ordered a chicken burrito he ended up with pork. Our friends had the same meal I ordered. No sauce, hard tamales, the rice was old and crunchy. The food was not even lukewarm. One plate had a huge chip in it where it had been broken, all of the plates had assorted nicks and chips in them a great place for bacteria to breed. I pointed out the chip in the plate our waitress, who didn't seem to be concerned. Service was horrid, our waitress never checked on us, she never, come with check. The owner was just standing around, I had to signal her to get our check, which we had waited a good thirty minutes to get. Then we had to wait another thirty minutes to get the credit card back. The restaurant was not busy just our table of four and another table of four. Just opened and a very good place to eat! For openers they placed out a nice large basket of chips with salsa. Note: some restaurants are charging extra for this hospitality, not here. The Mrs ordered the chicken fajitas and I went for the Huevos Rancheros, both meals were excellent. Great taste and ample portions. Service was up to par and the restaurant has a very open and inviting atmosphere. If I could get one thing (not currently on the menu) Machaca Con Huevos. (That would be for the fifth star) We will definitely return here for our next Mexican food meal. read more

I have to write this here because employees never relay these messages to management- few things can spoil an otherwise good meal than cheap fruity scented hand soap in the restrooms. We went to LaCocina off 10th Ave & Fox Farm today. Beautiful ambiance fresh & clean, brand new is beautiful! The young man who took our order immediately brought us fresh chips & two salsas. The red was freshly made & had nice heat. The green was spicier & delicious! I asked him how their chili relleno's were made because we don't like them rolled in eggs that they scramble & serve. Give me batter dipped & fried!! He assured me they were battered. Hubby had been craving a Torta & they filled the craving. The sandwich was served in a hoagie & it was good, altho he was disappointed it wasn't our usual bread. The Carne Asade was tasty with the rest of the fillings. It came with French fries, he said they tasted homemade. I had the tamale & chili relleno special which came with rice & beans. Very good tamale just the right amount of masa so nice & moist with tasty filling. The relleno was battered & fried exactly like we love them! The beans were a good consistency & tasty. The Spanish Rice was kind of crispy & drier than I like could have used more flavoring. Before we left I caught the young lady I thought might be a manager. I wanted to acknowledge our server. The manager said they don't have Bolilla rolls for Torta's; (a local bakery could probably fill that role possibly even WalMart). Bread makes the sandwich. read more
