We heard so much about the excellence of 5th and Wine's menu that we were willing to overpay for their menu. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed. We were celebrating our son's birthday and this was not the dinner we expected. The waitress was solicit but unable to deliver entrees that were delayed beyond any expectation. Our dinner took two hours to be served and the dishes were at best of uneven quality (one entree was cold and the other one was salty!). The waitress apologized for the delay indicating that they had lost the order in the kitchen. She offered free desserts. Unfortunately, she came later and after bargaining for a fewer number of deserts, we only got one desert for 4 people for free (I guess the chef changed his mind or threatened the waitress to take the price of the deserts out of her salary!). I don't recommend this restaurant. Too pricy for poor service and poor quality. read more

On Saturday evening we had the pleasure of dining here. I had called for reservations only to be told they were having their annual farm to table dinner with a limited number of seatings. They happened to have two spaces available which I quickly took. It was a wonderful evening and we absolutely enjoyed the food and wine pairings. Lucky us to grab these two spots. The chef explained each dish, the wine rep from Montinore gave us the backstory on the wines and a description of each, the purveyors of much of the fare provided to the restaurant had a chance to tell us about their products and how they contributed to the exquisite meal we all enjoyed, and the owner, Tara, made us all feel welcome and a part of the family. The tables were set beautifully. The attention to detail helped to make the vending even more special. 5th and Wine is a cool vibe in an odd town, but there are hits and misses here. The restaurant has an adjoining wine store, so there are lots of choices. The options in the restaurant were also fairly priced. The decor is very cool - high ceilings make for a spacious feel with bistro seating. The service is friendly, warm and inviting. The food is... mixed. The mushroom garlic butter and pork bites were fantastic. The entrees were universally oversalted...beyond salty. The desserts were mostly dry. We had a nice time, because we were celebrating a milestone birthday and would not let anything get us down, but there was a lot of room for improvement. read more

The food is always consistent yet it consistently improves. I thoroughly enjoy the lunch and events at this space. My husband and I hosted our wedding dinner in the beautiful loft space above a year ago. The service and attention to detail was impeccable. The staff is always welcoming and incredibly knowledgeable. I highly recommend the Fire Roasted Red Pepper Chicken Melt as a lunch item but you truly can't go wrong with any item. My husband and I ate here the other night and realized we had also eaten here in March. The food is delicious as the menu changes with the seasons, he had the pan seared chicken and I had the salmon, both were delicious - It's nice for us to not get steak when we can in Montana. The meat and the potatoes and the cheese sauce really married well. It was rich and the salsa and hot cheetos really helped to break up that richness. The grapefruit mimosa was very fresh and the grapefruit itself wasn't tart or bitter. It was reminiscent of an orange but with that characteristic zest of grapefruit. The kicker is the dinner entree. It sounded amazing in theory. It was pork tenderloin with spicy bell pepper linguini with microgreens. It comes after a half an hour or more, little longer than I eas expecting, and it was beautiful. The pork loin had that pan seared crust and amazing seasoning. It was cooked perfectly and was not overly dry. The sauce! The sauce had curry and smelled great! I was so excited for that first bite of richness. But it was such a huge let down. It lacked spice. Really lacked salt for all that pasta. It really needed that spice to break up that rich cream sauce. It would have been worth the $29 if it all came together. Very disappointing. I wanted to love it! On work travel in Great Falls, Montana and saw this place on my way back from the rock climbing gym so I decided to stop by after I got cleaned up. It is well decorated and the space was open which was really nice. They had a nice selection of wine and drinks (I ended up getting a dry red blend which was great). I ended up not getting an appetizer and decided to get a steak which was also great! The sauce they put on it was light yet flavorful and really brought the entire dish with the sides(asparagus and mashed potatoes) together! Only complaint is I think my steak was a bit overcooked for medium but really didn't take away from the meal at all which is why my review remained at a 5 stars. Appetizers range from ~$10 to $15 and the entrees range from ~$20 to $35. Entrees were few but diverse - a pasta, a chicken, a fish, and a steak. A bit pricey, but a relaxed type atmosphere really seemed down to earth. I will definitely be back next time I'm in town! read more

This rustic space felt open and welcoming, and there's a beautiful loft area where an event was being held. It's attached to a grocery & deli, so you can pick up a bottle of wine for later too ;) The food was equally delicious as it was beautiful, the service was excellent, and our server offered great recommendations for wine pairings. He was always attentive but never intrusive. The menu changes seasonally, but here's was we got! 1. Salmon Chowder - very good, not too fishy ;) 2. Artisan Bread - my hubby thought it had a bit too much salt, but I loved it ;) the olive oil is seasoned and served with balsamic glaze. 3. Romaine & Spinach Salad - loved the "drunken pears!"
