We visited Boro on a recent trip to Detroit and we loved it. This consignment shop offers special, unique, and cool pieces that you won't see anywhere else. They have a great mix of clothing, outerwear, accessories, and shoes. My mom purchased the most special black cape/jacket, beautiful black leather heels, and the perfect Patricia Nash woven basket bag that I can't wait to borrow this summer. The staff is genuinely friendly and helpful! One woman in particular was so fun as she jumped from group to group. this place is a little vintage curated thrift gem shop with really good quality pieces and designer items like vintage bottega Venetta. Every time I come here I always leave with a few items that I absolutely love the service is always good. Items are priced pretty fairly in my opinion. I could go and dig for those pieces myself but the time is what you trade for in my opinion. read more

This isn't just any old consignment shop. Boro is more like a personal shopping experience. Located on Gratiot in the Eastern Market area, Boro is adjacent to other shops, restaurants and even a record store that is sure to make your visit an all around adventure. Whenever I walk into the store it's like a near spiritual experience because shopping is my thing and when paired with amazing customer service it is truly my sweet spot. I am always greeted by the friendly owner Miriam who asks if you're in search of anything special. Even if I am, I immediately forget as I am taken in and mesmerized by all of the wonderful unique pieces that ore on display. Miriam is always ready to grab your favorites from your hands and store them in the comfy large fitting rooms until you're ready to try on. From clothing to jewelry to coats to shoes, all the pieces are simply gorgeous as if they are hand selected. There are choices for men and women, big or small. Styles range from trendy to classic with a pick for everyone. I've even snagged some wonderful designer pieces. The selection is great and prices are vreasonable. My favorite parts about a visit to Boro are: the personalized hand written tags carefully placed in each piece, the table in the center of the shop displaying featured items; the winding staircase that leads upstairs to the outerwear; the $10 clearance rack that is usually on the side walk during good weather days; the full wall of shoes, and the bags that are custom made from T-shirts to happily carry away your purchases! Proceed with caution. I consigned and was never notified when my items sold. I took the initiative by checked in only to be told to come again. When I checked back my items had been destroyed or donated without notification or permission. When I tried to discuss it with the owner, I was dismissed. The only word I can think of to describe the products in this shop is "curated". This place is strictly consignment, so every piece came from someone somewhere and has a story. That makes this store a verifiable library! The owner, Miriam does her best to capture this aspect and many pieces have lovingly handwritten notes explaining their backstories or fun facts. She and her partner did a lovely job restoring the interior, leaving key historical touches (crown molding where wall meets ceiling) and elsewise using a minimal meets modern style (roughcut granite countertop, simple curtains, soaring flatbar metal fixtures, light wooden floors). I am really looking forward to digging through my closet to consign and swinging back in to shop! Parking available on the street, or in the lot behind the building. read more

Boro Resale is the best. No, really, it's absolutely the best! Shopping at Boro is a combination of a curated high-end retail experience with bargain basement pricing. The interior is lovely - well lit and well maintained (no messy racks like some resale shops), and the location on Gratiot by Eastern Market means you can include a stop here as part of a larger outing. Boro has something for everyone. I'm a plus-size gal, and I appreciate that they have items in my size (16). I also appreciate that they have a men's selection, albeit much smaller than the selection for women. Another plus is that the proprietor of this fine shop, Miriam, is super knowledgeable and friendly. Boro hits all the right notes. You should check it out for yourself and see. read more

What a great find today. This shop is a well curated collection of retro finds. The inventory is organized by color and not overwhelming so each piece can receive the attention it deserves. I'm 56 and my daughter is 25, both found pieces. We immediately added their instagram. Made us want run home and pull similar pieces from our closets to love again or possibly consign. read more

Very accommodating and willing to help you and provide suggestions if you're looking for something in particular. Definitely make it a stop if you're in even just visiting! I tried on vintage Armani last time and they always have neat facts & comments on the tags that really put the history of each piece and designer into context. read more

This place is so, so gorgeous inside. I'm sad that I no longer rent space on this block, because I'd be in here constantly. The prices are fairly reasonable for upscale consignment and everything is beautiful and seems very lightly used. I'm looking forward to buying some new clothes here when I next need to dress up for an event. I love that they actually have a decent range of sizes, too - many upscale places tend to have mostly smalls and mediums, but I had no trouble finding L and XL pieces that were lovely. read more

Although Boro is not brand new, it hasn't been open for very long and, as I hadn't gotten off my duff and checked it out until a couple of weeks ago, it was new to me. From the moment I walked in I was impressed by how "fresh" and sharp looking this store was. As other reviewers have mentioned, the design and layout of the store is great, and everything is easy to locate. I especially love how - in the main anyway - the clothes are NOT sectioned off by size, but instead by colour and type. There are a couple of racks that use the size divisions but primarily this is not the case. I hope the owners don't bow to convention and change that as I found it refreshing to just be able to browse the merch on my own without constantly being annoyed that something is not in the "right" size grouping, or feeling compelled to put everything straight! Welcome to my Obsessive-Compulsive Hell, LOL! As I alluded to already, the place is very fresh and appealing to the eye, really draws you in. What I failed to add was that the fresh look is also accompanied by the overall cleanliness of the place. There was none of the odor that is frequently find in a lot of Resale and Consignment stores, thankfully as that's a real turnoff for me. Did I buy anything? Well, yes. But it was for friends, as I was unable to find anything in my size (14/L bottoms, 16/XL tops and dresses). As usual - for me anyway - the clothes seem to be geared towards the tiny amongst us. The gorgeous store front of Boro was just begging me to enter despite having no previous plans to do so. This store is positively gorgeous. From the high, elegant ceilings to the intricate details of the crown molding and the spiral staircase that dances up to the lofted second floor - this space is a true gem in itself. The clothing selection pairs perfectly with the space- it was interesting, different, & gorgeous all wrapped into a pretty little package of hanging racks. Having frequented several consignment stores in the metro Detroit area, I can safely say that Boro has both very reasonable prices & high-end brands. My favorite consignment store before Boro seemed to make the prices too steady- as in, they would overprice cheaper brands (think- Forever 21) to stay at a luxury price point. Boro does not do this- the prices vary according to brand original pricing. There are so many steals in that store I cannot wait to go back when I have time to peruse the stor piece by piece. Side note- the owner is chic, adorable, & so sweet to everyone who passes through her doors. It is evident that she has a passion & true love for her craft- which Is both contagious & inspiring. read more

This consignment shop just opened today and it has a really nice selection of mostly women's clothing (though some men's, too) from nicer brands. The prices seemed reasonable overall. It's also in a great location: across from Eastern Market and in the same block as restaurants like Trinosophes, Antietam, and Gather (also just opened), and stores like Well Done Goods. It seems like a good addition to that area, and it's especially nice to have more options for clothing in the downtown area. read more
