I walked in and gasped, I had 5 dresses to try in 2 minutes. The first one I tried I fell in love with. The most beautiful dress I have EVER seen. I quickly found my second dress for the rehearsal which Rachel picked out. I would have never have tried it myself and I immediately felt beautiful in it. All of the staff worked so hard to make it a wonderful experience. I am 60 and my body is not what it use to be. I was so discouraged with the dresses on the market that made me feel dumpy or showed too much skin. The staff helped me feel wonderful and I have the right to look beautiful whatever your body is. I left with a new attitude of dressing thanks to them. The store is absolutely stunning. It is worth the effort. I also think the prices were not outrageous as the quality and workmanship is wonderful. What are you waiting for? GO NOW!

Yesterday, Friday November 8, 2024 I sang songs written by author/musician Heather Buchanan and Tracy Kash for Heather's newest novel titled, VICTORS. Ultimately, they were largely responsible for our victory and when they weren't fighting they were playing music, sharing the new jazz sound which influenced not only Europe but the world. My dress, purse, fan, long strand of pearls and headpiece, all purchased from the Peacock Room in the Park Shelton were a smash hit! Modern, unique, clean lines, and no big floral patterns. Yama is the sister store but the opposite of The Peacock Room and definitely more my speed. I have been looking for a store that carries my size in unique pieces that will last. I happy to pay for quality of a well-made piece and am tired of the mass-produced casual wear that seems to be the only options anymore and fall apart in a couple months or after a few washes. The saleswoman was super sweet and helpful. I kept bugging her to look at the pieces behind the counter that just came in. She was steaming them but they looked so good, I had to try one on. I didn't end up purchasing anything, as I wasn't planning on making a purchase today and my meter was running out, but I did try on 5 more items and cannot stop thinking about this store and the Joseph Ribkoff items. I have to go back and soon. I gave my husband fair warning :) This is the type of store you building your wardrobe from, with great pieces that will last.

They also offer a wide variety of sizing so those of us with more ample curves have options, too. When I walked in, I fell in love with a nice cowl neck top. Made in America (which they noted on the tag) the top was black and had a shiny silver spotted pattern on the cowl area of the shirt. It was different! The pricing was inline with what I've paid for other pieces made in America, which I personally value and seek out when shopping. When I turned the corner in the back, a whole new area revealed itself. Several racks of wardrobe pieces that will all stand out in a crowd. I told my husband that some of them I saw myself wearing when I finally doubled down on my "fun and kooky art teacher vibe" but not everything is that bold. There were some very smart pieces, some more traditional silhouettes but in bold colors. There is also mid-century modern clothes that were retro but also in the here and now. I haven't intended on buying a bright pink party dress, but when I slipped it on in the fitting room I was thrilled - it fit like a glove. The dress was an XXL which I don't think I've ever worn, but knowing fashion sizing can sometimes be wonky I gave it a go. It had some frill, a front zipper that smartly hid itself (and thank goodness, a dress I can zip up for myself and I don't have to shimmy into), and the best part... POCKETS! REAL FUNCTIONAL POCKETS. It was even on their sale rack for a great price. The next time I'm looking for an outfit for a wedding or maybe just to replace a couple shirts with something with a bit more personality, I'll definitely be back.
