The ground floor store front is great!! Spacious and clean and organized. If your kid is like mine they tell you the dance shoes they are wearing is too small the day before the competition or recital! So I am so glad they are well stocked so I can get items right away. Before Covid I am all about supporting brink and mortar stores and now even more! They are Covid compliant so I feel safe about that. The price is very competitive so don't buy on Amazon ( I do with other stuff but if you can) bug your dance gear from here!!!

You can also save on shipping by having website orders shipped directly to the store. I do wish more fashion colors and styles were stocked ready to wear in size XL. I'm right between an L and an XL, depending on the style, and it would be nice to have options for colors other than black in that size. I do understand that their core customer skews much smaller and younger, so it makes sense to have more selection in the smaller sizes. I don't always want to wait 6 weeks for a custom piece! One other issue is that the fitting rooms, while beautiful and roomy and bright, tend to be somewhat uncomfortably warm, I guess due to all the bright lighting. I'm one of those people who is always cold, and even I find myself feeling overheated by the time I'm done trying on a few leotards. All that said, I am always very pleased with my purchases at Yumiko, and seriously, the sales team there is great, and always treats me well, despite my being an adult recreational dancer.

And it was a joy to watch Tara do the fittings for the ladies ahead of us that we really didnt mind waiting. Tara is a gem-- took the time to look and understand the needs and preferences of the dancers, and would offer up some useful recos. The store manager Amanda was so nice and very helpful. She took the time out of her day to help with my daughters pointe shoe fitting and we could not be happier! As she was attentive to the injury my daughter had and made sure these were the right fit. This was very important to me and I feel very confident in my purchase. I am very pleased with the customer service I received at both stores. They even are going to accommodate my daughter by always having her shoes ready to go when she needs them in a pinch. A friend has a daughter who is into tap, and shoes by Jason Samuels Smith are sold exclusively through Bloch so I was looking forward to seeing what they had in-store, in addition to some items for myself. Even though I walked into a rather busy shop, I was greeted by a sweet girl right away, and she brought out shoes and some pants I was interested in. There is only one fitting room so there will be a wait if there are more than a few people looking to try on dance/activewear. What fascinated me was watching someone get fitted for pointe shoes, and this took me back so long ago even though I was fitted at a different brand. A cool customer nearby gave me her opinion on the sizing of some pants I was hesitating to try (she teaches over at Alvin Ailey, so I'm taking her word for it) and then she was called over to assist with the fitting. Everyone here seemed to know one another and it made me think of how small the dance world really is. Sadly after trying on the shoes and pants, neither worked but I know I can order the pants online in the size and color I desired. As for the tap shoes, they had the basics (my favorite being the classic black and white oxfords) but the current seasonal color was...yellow. The daughter gave a definite no to those, so my work here was done. Even though I left empty-handed, it was great going down memory lane here at Bloch.

When the lady came to me I explained it's my first time buying shoes and she explained how the shoes are meant to fit and that the nude color is more common than black. She let me try on multiple pairs and was so patient with me. I chose my pair and told her the studio I dance at and got 10% off. The lady made extra holes for me in case the shoes stretched (which they will) and a nice show bag to tote around. I gave four stars because not all sizes were in stock for all shoes on the floor and they couldn't be ordered. This happened for both me and the other two women that were in the store. I will definitely be back!
