Great dive bar, fun crowd. 3 or 4 pool tables in good shape. It's a full bar with about a dozen tap beers, most are the domestic big brands but they do have a couple of the usual regional microbrews and Dos Equis on draft. Boozehounds is located on the NW side of Perrin - Beitel and Loop 410 intersection in a shopping center. In all the years I've been there, I have never met a friendly bartender... and that's so sad to say when I make friends every where I go. Lol. It is a favorite local bar for many of my friends... many of which have bands that play there... FREE COVER... and it's close to home so it is hard to say no when they are there! $3.25 for a Coors Light. I don't call that cheap beer for a so called dive bar. Pool tables are covered when there is band. I have only been there when there is a band. Boozehounds does have a large patio but it's the smoking area... I walked out to check it out and get some fresh air, I mean in and out, and I came home reeking of smoke. I sure am glad there is a no smoking law in bars now. I don't miss that smell. Boozehounds is not one of my fav places... and like I said, I only go to support live local music, to support my friends, when they are playing close to home. read more

Plenty of pool tables, cheap drinks, great music, owner is cool as hell and one of the bartenders always gets up with me on stage to do some "meow meows" (presidents of the U.S.). The rule of thumb for me, when offering my patronage to a club, dive bar, or music venue would I go there even if I did not know any of the bands that were playing there that night? Sadly, for Boozehounds my answer is a resounding "No!" No need for me to waste my words, so I will keep this review as simple as possible. If you are 40 years old and are still into Linkin Park, your idea of dressing fancy is wearing a Tap-Out shirt, you like men who refer to women as "broads", and you like being ignored by bartenders too cool for school, who would rather chat with the regulars than help you then this place is for you. It's like a really bad episode of the Full Throttle Saloon minus the dreads, the dude getting shot from a canon and friendly barkeep. My advice, skip this place. If you really want to see how it is done please go to The Ten Eleven and the Nightrocker's Live for the real deal! p.s. Great chill place to go. Bartenders are always on top of it and have great personalities. They also have food like wings and fried pickle.

Nothing fancy, but it doesn't pretend to be. This is a solid neighborhood bar and pool hall. They have about a half dozen pool tables, plus three of the newfangled, online networked darts machines. It's clean inside and doesn't have the typical small bar smell. Bathroom is not spotless, but useable. The bartenders are all very friendly and will get to know your name and your drink(s) of choice after your first couple of visits. The patrons are very friendly as well, and most everyone seems to know each other. Drinks are cheaper than in an average bar or pub in the area -- there are three specials on Mon-Thurs including a $2.50 draft beer. When there last night I counted 17 beers on tap. I can't speak to the quality of variety of their liquors or mixed drinks, or the bartenders' ability to mix, because I stick to beer. They have three large TVs above the bar, and another couple behind, for the people playing pool. Also, there is a TapTV networked trivia game system for nerds like myself. A Metallica pinball machine and the newest version of whatever that arcade golf game is are stuffed in a corner (though I've never seen anyone playing). There is a TouchTunes jukebox hooked up to a decent sound system where you can play your favorite music. Live bands play free shows every Friday and Saturday night at 10:00. It can get rather crowded on the weekends, because the inside is not huge. They do have a small patio out in front with tables and chairs for people who want to smoke. read more

Ahh...the Perrin strip. Since Chacho's takeover, this main route has lost it's fame and now is just a memory. Boozehounds, a strip bar (no strippers, just a mall) had taken over Bravos years ago. I'd like to think of them as becoming the only rock bar in this area. Because everytime I've seen the live bands, they were rock music. This place suffered a mini identity crisis due to the square footage. They have more than enough pool tables to be a baby pool hall, but I always thought their main focus was live music. However, their stage and available seating was small. The usage, drink specials most of the time....I think the bartenders have been there for quite awhile. The mural is pretty awesome, props the artist. They pour a mean drink so I would recommend all things with liquor. And that about covers it, the last couple of times I've been here; there was no cover so that's a plus. It's worth checking out on a Fri or Sat night if you wanna see a band making a mark on the rock scene. read more

Long story short, Went a few years back bad experience!!! Bartender broke glass in the ice, didn't change out the ice scooping the glass and ice into cups, in was drinking mixed drinks, I ingested glass, and it cut up my mouth and throat, along with a few other people in our group. We were there for a party, there was about 20 of us. My friend was upset about us tasting blood and we realized there was shards of glass in our cups, took the cups up to the bar, manager had bartender clean out the ice, and gave us a round of shots. That's literally it! None of us have gone back none of us ever will, anytime someone mentions boozehounds we warn them. Well left afterwards. It was a nightmare. I had cuts in my throat and around my gums, I should have visited the hospital but I'm stubborn. Don't risk it. Too many great bars in the area. There are 2 things that have brought me to boozehounds over the years. 1- plenty of pool tables. I think this place has more than any other neighborhood bar in this area. 6 to be exact. Almost makes it a small pool hall. They have dart boards as well. 2- the bands. They get some decent bands rolling through here although the place is not that big after the pool tables and dart boards. There is always a friend who knows some band and we end up here before I know what is going on. Aldo don't remember paying a cover so that helps. Now for the bar portion. The drink specials are decent and the bar feel is very divey. Low tables and high tops with stools all around the pool area. It is not much of a looker but gets the job done. The place does get pretty loud when the band's are playing though. Another saving grace is good. Of course your typical bar good options but they do help if you get munchies and don't want to step out. I've never had trouble finding parking either. Overall a decent experience but depends mostly on expectations. read more

1st I will like to say I've visited this location for over 2yrs quietly and discreetly .. I'm African American and usually visit late night because I own 3 online businesses and I come to edit and post my products.. never had issues however I did my usual pop up last week quietly and discreet and was called " n*gga" multiple times by a customer... the bartender on duty defended me to the best of her ability... "Good Job" however I returned and this time .. without knowing who I was .. the bartender gave me the BEST customer services that a African American could receive... I was treated with upmost respect!!! Upmost attention and gratitude than I've ever been treated in my 50 yrs of living in this great USA!!! I give 10 star rating!!! The experience was nothing I've ever experienced before!!! So professional!!!! I recommend visit Boozehound!!! The experience is something u will never forget!!! Went there with husband and friends to hear C Rock and had a great time. Classic rock sounded good - seasoned band sure sound tight. Bartender and waitress were friendly and we were all promptly served. We'll return and bring more friends next time. read more

I came to play some Metallica pinball, first time here. Immediately discovered the bartender is rude. Have I dealt with rude bartenders? Not really, I think it's pretty rare as they're always nice because they want great TIPS! I'd say stay away if you're going to be hanging out near the bar. Sonya and Josie are two of the best bartenders in the city. Very entertaining. The food is surprisingly good. Sonya makes the pizzas herself. Love the touch tunes jukebox and Josie's playlist during happy hour. There's plenty of people who love pool, they have state-of-the-art dart boards and a few serious video golf players, and a pinball machine. Great place to watch football and the Spurs on more than 10 large flat screens and they have the NFL ticket. The regulars are friendly and love buying rounds of shots. I could do without the heavy metal crowd late night on the weekends, but every now and then they have a good band. Karaoke is on Thursday nights, sometimes, but it's not very popular there. Most people would prefer the jukebox. Scotty is the principle owner and he is a super fun, nice guy. Tell him what you like in a neighborhood bar and he'll try to accommodate.
