Great beer offerings. Cool place you can hang and drink some beer or they also have beer for purchase or brewing supplies. Located into Brandon, the staff was friendly, very cool tasting room. Our beertender let us try several things before making our decision. They have special events as well which they post on Facebook. Live music, open mic, trivia. I had the Ice Cream Sammich- Milk Stout: Loaded with bitter dark malts and a signature malt backbone and judicious caramel malts at 8.2% ABV. It was a delicious beer, great flavor. I was hoping for more my first time at Bootleggers. I'd heard they'd just been awarded for having the Best Porter In Florida, so my husband and I decided it was time to go check them out. We got there right at opening and the main door was locked but we figured out that their brewing supply shop next door was open so we went in that way. There was a gentleman sitting there in the shop who came over to the taproom side and poured us a couple of beers. It was unearthly quiet, no music in the background, and when other patrons came in we were all sitting there silent. Eventually the gentleman who served us turned on a little background music and that helped everyone to relax a bit. I didn't like the aforementioned porter enough to think it was the best porter in Florida, but I know they're proud of it (as they should be) and they charged accordingly. If by chance we try Bootleggers again we'll come in on a different day and time and see if that makes a difference. read more

This is another one of those hidden gems in town and it happens to be in Brandon, Florida. It's right off of Kings Avenue in Oak Villa Drive in a modest shopping plaza. I didn't know this place existed this whole time as another brewery. I actually took the "brew experience" class here via Groupon which lasts for most of the whole day if you so choose to attend that from beginning to end. Otherwise, you can show up for part of it which we did. During this class there were a lot of experienced brewers who are highly intelligent in this skill and notable within the local craft beer scene. We got to learn most of the process from beginning to end. We also had the honor of meeting and hanging out with the owner. If you're not taking a class, you can just come right on into the tasting room and try the various types of local craft beer including their own nice selections. there's plenty of seating. They have a store section on the right that sells beer making in winemaking equipment. This kind of reminds me of Southern Brewing in Seminole Heights, but much more convenient, as far as, the location and better customer service. They apparently seem to be getting a decent flow during the weekends. It's worth checking out. read more

This has become one of my favorite breweries in Tampa! Their Blockhead (brown ale packed with tons of delicious peanut flavor!) has become my favorite beer. PLEASE MAKE BLOCKHEAD A REGULAR ON TAP!! I'll be a very sad panda if they stop making it. Anyways, I love this place because they have a lot of good beers, good variety, all of the staff are super nice & friendly, and they give me free popcorn (I love popcorn!). Some of the other good beers they offer which are noteworthy... ice cream sammich, peanut butter sammich & funky monkey (like a peanut butter banana sammich)... I like dark beers. Can you tell? This was a place I just happend to stumble upon. I love going to different brewery's and seeing how they make everything. This place has live music on the weekends which makes for a nice atmosphere. I don't like beer that much unless it's a sour beer. But this place also has ciders and meads. Honestly, one of my favorite breweries in the Tampa area! We moved to Brandon a year ago and have been back to Bootlegger's again and again and for good reason. A lot of locals drink here, but even if you're new everyone makes you feel welcome. They offer samples if you're on the fence and they have flights available as well. Bootlegger's also has plenty of events throughout the week and food truck quite consistently. Their tap list is always changing but my favorites are the Ice Cream Sammich and the Chicago typewriter. There is always something new to try here! They also have a popcorn machine that pairs perfectly with a few brews. Word is they are moving to a bigger/nicer space in the coming months (even closer to us btw) and we couldn't be more excited! read more

Great and very personal brewing experience here with the owner, Sean, and a great crew of brewers. This is the "Cheers" of the craft scene and has an excellent tasting room with their famous ice cream sandwich ale (also coconut, peanut butter, other versions). The sweet lady behind the bar was amazing and knowledgeable. I appreciated her information on their offerings and polite conversation the Sunday afternoon we went in. Though 7 of the 8 beers we tried in our flights weren't for me. I would probably go back and give them another shot. Perhaps when they move locations or change up there line up of tapped beers. First experience...we found on Facebook and checked out yelp reviews and decided to go. Greeted immediately with a smile. Everyone gave us attention and we felt important. Great atmosphere. Today we went for their 1 year anniversary. They have free, self serve popcorn. They also have games you can play. They have a store with brew your own kits for wine and beer. I stopped in here after a busy day and this place was great!! It's considered small but it was a comfortable setting, the service was absolutely awesome and they had a really good selection of beers and as usual I met someone sitting at the bar to talk to.. the crowd was good and friendly. My family has been here multiple times. Most recently we made our own wine. Two types. We make and bottle it and then they store it while it ferments. Then once ready, we schedule an appointment to bottle it up ourselves. We buy the bottles there. It was a fun experience and we were able to share our own wine with friends and family. Bootleggers sells and provides all the things needed to make your own wine too! When we went there was a bar type thing attached to where you can make your own wine/beer however that is relocating due to the feedback from staff. Separating the bar from the making materials seems inconvenient for current customers. One of the best things was being able to taste what was on tap and see if you'd like to make a batch for yourself. With that part gone, I am not sure how we will feel with selecting our next batch. read more

Great find in the Brandon area! They have happy hour from 5-8pm $1 off pours and flights. All brews are Done in-house and they have an awesome selection. The place itself has chairs and tables or if you want to sit at the bar. They also have board games here which my friends and I had fun playing! read more

The first time I ventured into Bootleggers I found the owners hanging out and sipping on their own wine. What can I say, it was a great first impression. It was nearing close and they gave my husband and me a tour around back where we got to sample several of their creations. I wasn't expecting to leave there with a buzz, but I sure wasn't complaining either. They have just about everything you might need to brew your own beer or wine and the prices were pretty reasonable. They'll also customize your old refrigerator and turn it into an on-tap heaven. We'll definitely head back in when it's time for the next brew. read more

My daughter who lives in Sandusky, Oh bought us $100 gift card for a Christmas gift because we love wine so much and thought we would enjoy the experience of making our own wine or beer. We live in Apollo Beach. Well, I sure hope the learning experience is better then the customer service experience I had when I just picked up the gift card! The gentleman behind the counter has no sales experience apparently, could not tell me much about the services available and had no literature describing it. His response: look us up online and proceeded to rattle me off the website while he was leaning back in his chair behind the counter when I was leaving to go to the door. This place is my new favorite place. Monty will get you set up with tasters to get you acclimated. Their lushable crush ipa is citrus forward, juicy, and delicious. They also make wine and cider! All the cider we had was dry, and not overly sweet like some ciders. At the time, they had a delicious blackberry cider. The service was the friendliest I've seen in the area. This was my first time going to a brew supply store. The place is loaded with all kinds of good stuff for making beer ,wine and other goods. The men working there were very helpful and full of knowledge and helpful info and tips. This was much better then ordering off line. Supporting local is the way to go! You can also use there facilities for making wine or beer and they will babysit it for you. They are expanding so it looks like it will be a good spot to go, cant wait to visit again. read more
