The online signup is easy to navigate and straighforward. Point. Click. Get confirmation via email. Show up and go workout. The trainer, Leon is nice on the eyes but man oh man does his playlist suck! They play better workout music in Old Navy. The other trainer, Stacy works you a lot harder than Leon does. Leon is all about the ladies or maybe the ladies are all about Leon. I guess its not his fault he's so chocolate and cute, blame his mama & daddy and their exceptional Jamaican dna. Either way, the workout is way more intense, & there's way more direct instruction and less distractions when Stacy comes through. When I say rain or shine I mean that I will see you if the sun is shining and/or its not raining. When they say rain or shine they really mean we will be here in the park under the trees, soaking wet, doing pushups and risking electrocution by lightning NO MATTER WHAT. Most of the workout takes place on a mound and its hard working out on a grassy incline. Some of the moves cant really be done effectively or safely on a dirt/grass hill because your feet keep slipping and even moreso when its raining. Maybe this is supposed to add to the resistance (?). All in all the workout is challenging and the instructors are motivating, helpful and not condescending. The class is made up of all women of varying ages, sizes and athletic ability. One woman even brings her little son sometimes. He sits in the back and colors or reads or comes up front and does his own version of the workout so thts cool. I have like a thousand kids so its great to know that I have the option of bringing them with me. *Im not even 100% sure there names are Leon and Stacy but Im sure Im at least pretty close. I do not enjoy keeping fit and I am a bigger girl but I felt great after completing boot camp. The only reason I am not giving NYC Adventure Bootcamp five stars is that it is no longer offered in the evenings. I simply cannot make the 5:30am class but would return in a heartbeat if there were other schedule options.

The other one was so light that I barely feel like I worked out at all. Phoenyx Fitness has been THE BEST one I have attended so far. For one, this truly is a "at your own pace" workout. My biggest grips with previous classes is that they either killed you and if you weren't prepared too damn bad, no pain no gain. The other was just you can work at your own pace but the instructor set such a low pace that it wasn't very challenging . You definitely get your money's worth with Malenna and the awesome instructors at Phoenyx (I've had most exposure with Kaelynn - sp?). I also started this in the summer so the classes are outdoors. The bad news is - it's rain or shine. the good news is, the classes keep you on your toes with differentiating workouts AND parks. I love when they are held on the UWS for selfish reasons (ha ha). The class runs by so quickly that before you know it, the hour is up. I especially love the 6 am classes - by 7 am you are completely done for the day. That is totally cool.

He does not coddle you. He basically shows you what to do and you get it done, however the other people working out with you are your motivation. There's never a moment where others acted uppity or too good to help you out or even throw out some encouraging words if you were struggling. We ALL were. Even those who were in shape. It was really intense and I had the best results in my life. I am thinking of going back as soon as I find the funds.

She created an energized, supportive environment that made it easy to connect with others, particularly when we broke into smaller groups. Nicolette strikes the perfect balance between being tough and supportive, encouraging you to trust your body while ensuring you feel safe throughout the class. I also appreciate the clean showers and that I could get a protein shake from their fridge on my way out, that goes a long way!!
