I went in for the first time and I got to talk to someone who was very knowledgeable with jeans, boots, and belts. The western style was very new to me, so having someone that knew all about it really helped me make decisions on which kind of jeans to get. Never had I gone into a clothing store and had a worker give me helpful information on clothes the way Daniel had. I would definitely return, the clothes were great, and the workers were very nice and helpful. Also the dressing rooms are open during COVID-19 so you can still try on before you buy. read more

I entered the store and was greeted immediately, but then the employees all seemed to disappear. I found what I was after and headed to the register, but there was no one there, so I waited for a good long while, read the backs of all of the bottles on the counter, smelled the candle that was sitting there, looked around for someone to help me, then tossed the package of laces on the counter and left the store. I will find what I need somewhere else. This was my first time shopping in this store, and it will also be my last. read more

I have had a lot of problems with jeans in the past because I am so darn short. Other stores that…read moresell short-length jeans don't work for me because the jeans are STILL too long. That's when I discovered Maurices and completely fell in love with their extra short jeans. Only the basic denim comes in extra short, not the fancy embellished denim, but that works for me because I'm the kind of person who wears jeans every single day, and wears them until they fall apart, and then for a little bit longer. In the past the service here has been so-so. I've had awesome service here, and service so bad I vowed never to shop here again. The other day I came in to special order some jeans (again, I am really short and they don't always carry my size) and the young woman who helped me order my jeans was the kindest, most patient person I have ever met in retail. She told me she was new but I never would have guessed -- she was so professional! She helped me find several pairs of jeans in my size and special order them, even though it ended up taking three different transactions, and she was so cheerful the whole way. I work retail myself and I felt kind of bad that I put her through so much, but she really changed my mind about jean shopping. Normally it's a frustrating process that completely robs me of my self-esteem, and this time around it was a total breeze. Now I'm just waiting for the jeans to come in. I love that they offer that option (in order to waive the shipping fee I have to pick them up at the store, but that's fine by me) and I can safely say that I will be buying jeans from here in the future.

I verified the brand of the shoe, the name of the shoe, the color of the shoe, and the size of the shoe with the associate. He confirmed everything. I was unable to pick them up, so my mom graciously picked them up for me. When I saw them, the color was not right. I specifically verified the color of the shoe with the associate. Now I have to make a trip to Blue Springs, which is not close, to return the shoes and get a refund. It would have been great if the associate could've verified the color correctly.

Throughout the store they have sections of many different brands and their products, mostly supporting local KC vendors. Among different types of goods they had apparels, cards, accessories, cups, mugs, candies, chocolates, caps, coasters, posters, home candles and much more. The prices were little higher since these are local made goods, but they were excellent quality. We bought some chocolate bars and cards from the store. The staff members were very friendly, assisted us with a quick and easy checkout.

Schaake's covers you for all of the above, just outside of Lawrence. Some other area pumpkin patches and farms offer pumpkin "picking" by simply setting up a ton of pumpkins for you to pick from a pile which is essentially the same as a grocery store. Schaake's is great because you can actually traipse through the fields, step over the vines and pluck your own pumpkins straight from the farm. In non-Covid times, they have a tractor ride to take you out and it'll pick you up so you don't have to haul them back. Covid times, they've added wheelbarrows up front so you can haul them easily. There are other little fun things here like a pumpkin slingshot, a chicken coop, concessions with cider & kettle corn, hay bale maze, cows, and an old school playground area. If you like the peaceful openness of rural Kansas, this farm will certainly deliver on that, even though it's very close to Lawrence. If it's one of those perfect weekends in October, know that it's going to be very busy, but it's always fun no matter how packed it gets. It's worth the trip over from KC as well as we haven't found a better pumpkin patch anywhere around.
