He also transferred photos from the old phone to the new one without my asking for it! The overall experience, which later included another employee helping us with a USB-C adapter, was all positive. I've had my phone with them since 1998 and whenever I've called them about anything, they consistently give "take it or leave it" type answers so I'm used to not having terrific customer service so I was surprised that I was surprised by the level of service at this store considering my expectations were already so low. My poor Pixel 5 was limping along due to its advanced age and the fact that I dropped it twice recently. I decided to bite the bullet and get a Pixel 7a so when we walked by the store, I walked in, asked the guy behind the counter who barely looked up if they had it in stock and went to look at it when he pointed to the wall where it was displayed. The size was bigger than I would have liked but it was okay so I went and told him I wanted to buy it. He let me know that he could add it to my account for on a three year payment plan and I said that I would be happy just to pay for it now and he said he couldn't help me. I was confused because I'd checked the website the day before and I knew I could buy it online but he said that's not possible in the store. He said I could go to Best Buy if I wanted to purchase it. Recalling that I could buy it online and that he did say they had one in stock, I asked if I could purchase online and request pickup at the store and he said that would probably work, so I sat down, did everything online on my crippled Pixel 5 (I was trying to keep the horrible truth of its replacement away from it) and submitted the order. He went in the back for about 10 minutes, then came out with a bag with my phone. After I opened the box to ensure there was a phone in it, I left with my new purchase. Again, although not surprised, I'm disappointed in the level of service from Verizon. I've been a customer for 25 years and even conservatively estimating a payment of $100 per month during that time, I've given them over $30,000 but they still make me do all the work to get a phone. I'm not faulting the guy who works there for Verizon's ridiculous policy and I guess I appreciate the recommendation to try Best Buy but it's clear that the company would love to do away with staff altogether and have the customer do all the work. But if you have people in the store, why don't you let them sell? I get it, but it's a business model designed to reduce costs. I'm also too lazy to switch to AT&T or another provider so they know they have me. But I wouldn't recommend Verizon to anyone and especially in that area of Connecticut, the coverage that used to be very strong has degraded in the past few years so maybe I should see if another provider is better. It's a cell phone company, so it's about as expected.

Apparently, Google Pixel "backs up" all of your photos, WITHOUT YOUR KNOWLEDGE OR PERMISSION, AND THEN HOLDS YOU HOSTAGE IN AN ATTEMPT TO SCREW YOU OUT OF MONEY FOR A SERVICE YOU MAY NOT WANT OR NEED!!! The messages do not inform the receiver as to any method to alleviate the issue, such as where you can delete these stored photos or other data, it only states that "you may purchase more storage for $1.99 per month". I even upgraded, at a cost of $100,, to the 256 GB top of the line Pixel because two of their very poorly trained employees told me that it would eliminate the problem I was experiencing. which it does not. After many searches online, and more than one visit to this store, no successful solution has occurred that fixes the issue. Apparently, Google (the manufacturer of the Pixel) has set this scenario up where the Pixel phone automatically "backs up" every one of your photos somewhere (nobody can tell me exactly where these "backed up" photos actually reside) and even after doing extensive research online, there doesn't seem to be a way to delete one's photos to open up storage from wherever Pixel is storing them. My take-away from this experience is that T-MOBILE will gladly sell you a $1,000.00 phone that will hold you hostage in its attempt to extort money from its users, and then T-MOBILE just says that it's "not their problem" and blames it on Google, while offering no solution to make my phone usable. I would also discourage everyone from using this T-MOBILE located at 2 Padanaram Road, Danbury, as my experience is that the training regarding the products they're selling is completely lacking and fails to supply the support necessary to properly use your phone. The employees at this store didn't even bother to offer to contact the PIXEL manufacturer to seek answers to help me. RUN, RUN, RUN FROM THIS T-MOBILE store, and I would strongly suggest that you NEVER, EVER PURCHASE A PIXEL PHONE AS THESE ISSUES AREN'T THE ONLY PROBLEMS I'VE HAD WITH THESE PHONES!!!
