Patricia works hard to run a fantastic business for archery classes for people of all ages, and the whole Lykopis team does a great job of sharing the knowledge and love for archery. Lykopis teaches historical and intuitive archery, meaning priority is given to embedding the form into your muscle memory first (for good reason). I'd never been too interested in history, but learning the practices and long, long history of archery has sparked a new passion for me. I come home after every lesson eager to share what I've learned with my partner. But Lykopis is more than just an archery school. Sure, they also sell equipment, and they have workshops and viking camp among many, many other things. Their instruction is given with a vast depth of knowledge and with personalized, caring, and fun instruction. But above all, Lykopis has helped me pay close attention to my mind and body, helping to combat an anxiety disorder I've dealt with for the majority of my life. I've realized that I can become even more confident in myself, and I'm grateful to be able to work towards that with Lykopis. TL;DR: Take a class. Try it out. It's both fun and informative, and well worth it.

Nothing quite like going to the gun range & letting off some steam!…read more Well actually I can think of another activity ... however, childrenz are watching this thread. The Langley Gun Range is were I was one morning letting loose with various firearms. You must sign in electronically on the available pads - does not take long unless you love to read 25,000 words of info. We were booked for one hour - call ahead to reserve a slot. We started off with a 22, then upped to a 25 & concluded with a shotgun, blasting away slugs at the target. I really enjoyed pulling the trigger on the shotgun I used & hearing the loud bang & feeling the pushback in my shoulder. Definitely not recommended for those with shoulder injuries. It can be a little tricky trying to get here, so make sure to use Google Maps or Waze. Parking available out back including an overflow area. Dress, warm but flexible as it is cold in here this winter. This gun range is an icon in Metro Vancouver = well used & well loved. Great service at reception, easy to access, & just straight up no nonsense. We brought our own gear - guns, clear glasses (eye protection), earbuds aka ear muffs & ammo. Take the slings off your guns if you have them on - not permitted inside the range. Check the website for cost of gun rental & ammo purchase. https://www.therangelangley.com/ Safety is very important here, so obey the rules or get kicked out immediately!

Fun shooting range near Golden Ears bridge (Langley side)…read more Parking is plentiful in the industrial lot on the weekends. Might get a bit full on weekdays. The venue is quite modern. Nice big front counter. Friendly and helpful staff. As of the time of writing, members can bring 1 guest for half price admission, which is a nice perk. There is also a mini training room downstairs, and a large private (party?) room upstairs. The range itself is pretty nice. Maybe 25m long, and maybe 20 lanes total. Nice cool breezy air running through the room. Lane width is pretty much the right size. My only complaint is that the "corridor" running the width of the shooting area is a wee bit narrow. Even when I was standing against the back wall, traffic kept bumping into me. A bunch of ammo was spent, and my friends and I left with huge grins on our faces.

They have two excellent CFSC instructors that run this course Mike and Stavros. Excellent information and engaging with a strong focus on safety (a friend who had taken the course elsewhere said it was super dry). Course content is well organized with many real-life examples on the consequences of improper handling, misuse and re-emphasis on the need to maintain safe practices. Registration by e-mail was easy and well-organized in advance also. Lots of time to ask questions of the instructors and well-paced. It gave me more confidence with firearms which I appreciated. The VGC also has an awesome restaurant on-site open on Saturday/Sundays. Cash only but portions are incredibly generous. Tip the experts in the kitchen well as they work hard to put together a delicious meal. I had the Pad Thai and it was absolutely delicious. I couldn't stop eating it. My wonton soup turned out to be a wonton noodle soup which was huge in size and portions. It was all yummy! The building is older but decently maintained theres's also lots of gravel parking available. Washrooms were clean. I'll be back to visit VGC in the future hopefully!

I had wanted to take a firearms safety course for awhile…read more I wanted clarity on how to operate a gun & most of all how to be safe around them - guns. The time to learn about gun safety in my life was now. I'm older & wiser (I think) but most of all calmer about life. When I was a teen growing up in Africa, I had two uncles who were in the army & went on to become police officers. One of those uncles stayed with me (I had a large master bedroom with extra beds) & would often bring a cache of guns he would place under his bed. Knowing now what I know - I consider myself lucky I didn't accidentally fire off any of those guns I picked up - when he wasn't around! You name it I held it - semi automatics, RPGs, AK47s, etcetera ... honestly there was a Rambo assortment of weapons under that bed ... yikes! A coworker had taken Silvercores firearms safety course & highly recommended I sign up. I did sign up a few months ago & just recently completed the two day in person course. Heads up Alert - I'm going to share with you major, major tips so you can successfully pass this course to obtain your PAL (Possession & Acquisition Licence) which enables you to own & buy guns. You must score a minimum of 80% to pass the course. You will have two in class quizzes, each consisting of 50 multiple choice questions. You will also have two practical in class tests. You will not be firing off any guns in this class. You can download the manual - 300 pages. Glance through it but don't memorize it. Mythbusters By taking the CFSC, you will not become The Accountant - an assassin - nor the Jackel (The Day of the Jackel 2024 - btw excellent British production) - super sniper - & be able to bring down targets 5 miles away. 007? - forget about it & leave that to James Bond on the big screen. Firearms are sold only to licenced PAL holders in Canada. Firearms in Canada are used solely for hunting or target practice at the gun range. Canada does not have the infamous 'Castle' rule ala Texas. Makes for an interesting scenario - if Dahmer breaks into your home & starts ticking off your loved ones, one by one, do you approach him with a butter knife!? Most of the 'big, black, scary' guns (semi automatics) are banned in Canada. Come to class relaxed & ready to learn everything - gun safety. When answering the quizzes, think gun safety first. Funny story - my brother got tripped up on a question - are you allowed to fire bullets at a stop sign? His mind was like - yeah, if it's in my backyard! LOL. The answer is - nope. No picture taking or recording allowed in class. There is a Subway a 100 metres from here (Delta location) for lunch or bring your own.
