Went back and forth between 3 & 4 stars as the service was vastly different from the start to the end of the experience. However, ended where I did because things overall were good! When we got there, it was semi busy but not crazy. Wait staff were great at stopping and checking, being attentive. Food came and it was all pretty good. I love wraps, and I love burgers so I got the burger wrap. The combination was good... but not the best. My wife loved her burger so I'll keep the 2 loves separate going forward. As we started finishing up, the place got really really busy as it was bingo night! It was very telling on who were the regular bingo goers as there were 3-4 tables of 6 people who had all their own, personal dobbers. That's great to have that consistency in business... however... The 3 stars was considered because as those 3 significant tables settled in, they demanded and received the full attention of the only 2 servers available, leaving about 5-6 other tables of non-regulars, non-bingo players who just happened to be in the area and decide to swing in for some dinner; much like us. The service for us and the other tables drastically changed and we waited an extra 30 mins as we kept trying to provide payment to our server who kept walking by, trying to attend to the needs of the "regulars". It was a great small townie bar and I miss living in a small town because of that. However, when we're road tripping and stop at places like this, it's important to remember even though you have your regulars... it's the out of town era like us that spread the word of small businesses like this and proved the addition outside flow. Recommended by friends, we wove a visit to Boonies Bar and Grill into a Saturday afternoon tour of backroads refreshment establishments. We arrived late afternoon. It was clear from the staff prepping, this place is hopping for dinner. It was still quiet when we walked in. Apparently back road day drinking is less of a thing in this area? We started with a cold beer to wash the trail dust from our parched throats. Good selection of local crafts and the staples, ice cold, in frosty glasses. They have a popcorn machine in the corner! This is a real plus for us. We feel it's important to replace the salt you lose on the trail (yep, it's a BMW but we had the windows open!). We both went with burgers for dinner. They have a nice selection of burgers, sandwiches, salads and even some entrees on the menu. Our burgers were creative and done perfectly. We bid the friendly bartended adios and hit the trail. We'll be back to the Boonies when our travels bring us back to these parts! read more

Had a wonderful experience at Boonies. Went for dinner and then brunch the next morning. Dinner: shrimp wrap with sweet chili sauce. Shrimp was plump and veggies on wrap were crisp. Had with side of pickle chips- so good. Also had dirty martini, made perfectly. Brunch: killer Bloody Mary! Got biscuits and sausage gravy platter with scrambled eggs and cheesy hash brown casserole. Everything was great, and I wasn't hungry until dinner (always a plus). Server was considerate and responsive. Ambiance was laid back, clean, lots of TVs playing Vikings game. Patio space looked AWESOME- activities and big tables, space was covered and protected from wind (presumably). Would definitely come back and request to sit on patio. read more

Recently moved to the area and wanted to try a fish fry! Around $14 and you got 3 pieces of fish, a breadstick and a choice of potato. I ordered the twice baked but they gave me fries. ‍ Not terrible, fish was a bit over cooked but tasted fine for the price. Will be back to try a burger! read more

This place is a JOKE!!! Should have known when we walked in at 5PM on a Friday night and the place was dead. We sat ourselves in the bar area and it took 10 minutes to even get a waitress to come to our table. She took our drink order but never gave us menus. The table behind us got seated about 10 minutes later by a different waitress and they got menus. My wife had to ask that other waitress if we could get menus and she brought them to us. We then ordered and when the food came out we both looked at each other and said the same thing, "This is it??". Hardly any food on the plates. My sandwich came with literally 20 French fries and the sandwich itself was the size of a kids meal. Not worth the $13.00. My wife's bull bite steak bite's were only about 12 and the size of a dice, not worth the million's of dollars they are asking. This place is located in a little town about 5 miles from Lakeville MINESOTA. It doesn't have a big parking lot but there is always a place for you to park. The inside looks very clean and organised. All employees also very nice and polite. We came here at about 11 pm, and their grill was closing. When we asked for a menu, the bar tender said to the kitchen that were going to eat. And they opened a grill for us. That was pretty amazing very good customer service. Their food is also delicious. I enjoyed it. Highly suggesting to visit it. read more

My friend and I were flying down I-35 back towards Kansas City after a road trip to Minneapolis, when my friend spotted a tiny highway sign for a place called Boonie's. We decided check it out. The town was about a mile down the road and then we found our destination. It was a pretty nice little place. The bar area was partitioned away from a dining area, where Bingo was being played. We chose the bar side intending to just have a beer, but the waitress talked us into trying the sirloin beef tips (called "Bull Bites"). We're glad we succumbed, they were really very good! In addition to the bar and restaurant they apparently had meat for sale, as we saw a rather nice large cut sitting next to the register when we walked in. This is a good place, well worth stopping by for a drink or a quick bite to eat. The Facebook fan page has some great pictures of the bar, including a beautiful covered patio with a pool table that I didn't see during my visit. read more

Boonies is, hands down, the greatest bar and grill for miles around! (Literally.) Despite the lack of competition, my family and I are frequent customers--great food, super friendly service, eclectic crowd (yet family-friendly), and charity BINGO on Thursday evenings! I'm a creature of habit: I either order the club sandwich or chicken philly, both with fries and honey mustard (best ever!). My kids, sister and dad love the sirloin, burgers, onion rings and chicken strips. Can't forget the ice cream for the kiddies! And free popcorn!! Service staff is always friendly and upbeat and the folks in the kitchen do super work as well. If Michelle is your server: jackpot! Boonies is the heart of the Circle Lake neighborhood and we are very lucky to have this place to meet up with friends, watch a game, eat top-notch bar food and to try and make a little money off pull tabs, scratch offs or BINGO. To start, the location is a little out of the way and near nothing of importance, however, the food is well worth the time, the appetizers are quite quaint. The wait seems to be longer than usual for a burger, and an odd thing is they serve apps and main course at the same time, canceling the effect of ordering an APPETIZER. The service lacked. The music was country, and the hostess was rude. The first ever time we ate here was on a friday night, we sat in the bar area. Michelle was the bartender and came over quickly and took our drink order. She was very friendly and answered any of our questions with a smile. We came for fish so that is what we ordered. For my side dish I ordered twice baked potato, thinking it would be a baked potato cut in half and re-piped into the shell. Instead it was a cup of steaming hot mashed potatoes with cheese on top. It was good, just not what i pictured. Awww what can I say about the fish other than it was delicious, 3 nice sizes of beer battered cod, my only complaint here is their tarter sauce it's kind of a bland mayo tasting sauce. I like a tarter sauce with a little tang like chopped up dill pickle, lemon or capers. I will be going back to fish fry tonight and bringing my own sauce, because the fish was that good. Nice big flaky chunks of fish. The hubby had the fries for his side and he liked them. You also get a nice warm breadstick. We found out that they have this card called a Boonies card that once you reach 100.00 you get a 15% coupon that generates on your receipt. The second time we visited was on a thursday night to play bingo, wow have they got that organized. We ordered the cheeseburger and a philly beef sandwich, the sandwich was good, but not impressed with the burger, especially since it was voted the best burger of southern mn. I talked to bartender and asked which was voted best, it was a double patty boonies burger, we didn't try the right one. Maybe next time. They had summit saga on tap, that made the hubby very happy. I just drank bottled corona. We like this place, small town bar atmoshpere. Another hang out for us. ps, update: Tarter sauce was excellent tonight, was mixed with dill pickles and had that tang that I like(3/2/18). Been going here since kids were little. 10 years ago big juicy steaks and burgers. Different owners now, and they fixed up the building, put in great rear deck and some nice tvs, but the burgers are now awful. Ordered all American burger medium, wife ordered well done mushroom. Both burgers cooked the same. Maybe an 1/8 inch thick, dry, burnt edges, not much taste. Onion rings undercooked. Fries as usual were awesome. For the price, you will not get your money's worth, at least with a burger. Wendy's, Five Guys, Smashburger , have a better piece of meat. We have also had steaks here, and they were fine, but a little spendy for the cut. Drinks good, friendly service, nice atmosphere but we are done eating there until they get a thick juicy properly prepared burger back on the menu. There are better choices and I would say Boonies is just ok. I ordered the Millersburger which was a bit overcooked, but everything else was good. I would give them a second chance and maybe I'll edit my review then. They claim to have won the best burger in 'Southern Minnesota' in 2014. How is that even possible with Newt's in Rochester or Kings Place which is maybe just a couple of miles to far north. read more

Stopped at this restaurant after seeing such great reviews and was really disappointed. The place is clean and the service was very good, but the food was just average. My husband had the fish dinner which was three large beer-battered cod pieces, french fries, a bread stick, and a spiced apple garnish. He said it was "Just OK". I had a hamburger which had some good toppings on it but the meat patty was so thin that you couldn't even taste it. The toppings were all you could taste. It could have been a great burger had they used a little more meat, but instead it was a nice grilled onion and BBQ sauce sandwich. They do have an outside eating area if you are a smoker. read more

I love Boonies very much. My first experience their was about a year ago because I was new to the area, and I wanted to find a restaurant with good food. Boonies is by far my favorite restaurant. If your waitress is Michelle you are in for a treat! She is kind and polite and always checks in on my table. Even if it is really busy I know she will not waste my time! My family and I went to Boonies tonight for dinner. There were 7 of us, 2 of the 7 kids under 4 years old. The restaurant was not full and we found a table right away. Our drink order was taken within a few minutes, but sadly that was the only positive thing about our dining experience. It took an obscene amount of time to order, with us having to flag down another server to ask to order, only to be told she would "send our waitress over". We ordered 4 burgers, a pizza, and 2 kids meals. We waited well over 1 hour for our food, with people that came in well after us eating and finishing their meals while we still waited. Not one person ever explained the delay, or even stopped at our table to check on us. When the food finally came, every single burger was ice cold and the pizza was missing. By the time the pizza came, everyone else was done with their meals, the little we did eat, as the food was terrible. When the pizza was finally delivered, the waitress said "I hope it was worth the wait". No, no pizza is worth more than an hour wait while your family eats without you. We then sat, yet again, waiting for our bill. After asking for the bill, and waiting some more, we had to go up to the pull tab counter to pay. At the end, everyone is still hungry, and we have 2 tired, hungry and crying children. Hands down worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant, and I will not be back. No apology was made, and nothing offered to help rectify the situation. Save yourself the time and go somewhere else. read more

We've walked out of Boonies previously because of lack of service. We stopped there Saturday to meet my in-laws. They had paid their tab but still had drinks to finish. We waited about 10 minutes and no one approached us to see if we needed anything. Michelle was bartending and serving the area we were in. She'd commented to others about her shift being over but the next person hadn't arrived to work yet, so she was still working the area. finally had to ask a different waitress to help us as we wanted something to drink. Michelle was the reason we walked out the last time. We were ready to leave and asked Michelle for our tab, she said she'd let our server know. Again waited because nothing was said to the server. Finally paid a ridiculously high tab for a couple of beers. We used to go to Boonies a lot.... no more. I'm not going to pay to be ignored. read more
