It was taco Tuesday but we were craving that burger. Crooked Pint did not disappoint! Another yummy, juicy burger! We both ordered the Juicy Lucy and added lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles. It definitely is juicy. So good. Unfortunately the onion rings were not up to par. Couldn't taste the onions at all. They just tasted like breading. But, the burger is terrific so try another side other than the onion rings. They had someone announcing a trivia game that patrons could choose to participate. The questions were not easy so it made it a fun challenging game.

Chips were good; light and flavorful. Salsa was a bit thin, and perhaps could have used a bit more heat, but was a good starter. I opted for the Fajitas Guadalajara, for a couple reasons. I wanted a sampler of their various proteins, and fajitas, sans tortillas/rice/beans, are a favorite leftover of mine for a great morning scramble. All the meats were tender and full of flavor, though the shrimp may have been a touch over. I would have also preferred a bit more char on the peppers and onions, also, but everything else was spot on. Barb and I also split a pitcher of strawberry margaritas, which finished the meal off perfectly. We also had a nice view of a passing thunderstorm from our window booth.

When we got there, it was semi busy but not crazy. Wait staff were great at stopping and checking, being attentive. Food came and it was all pretty good. I love wraps, and I love burgers so I got the burger wrap. The combination was good... but not the best. My wife loved her burger so I'll keep the 2 loves separate going forward. As we started finishing up, the place got really really busy as it was bingo night! It was very telling on who were the regular bingo goers as there were 3-4 tables of 6 people who had all their own, personal dobbers. That's great to have that consistency in business... however... The 3 stars was considered because as those 3 significant tables settled in, they demanded and received the full attention of the only 2 servers available, leaving about 5-6 other tables of non-regulars, non-bingo players who just happened to be in the area and decide to swing in for some dinner; much like us. The service for us and the other tables drastically changed and we waited an extra 30 mins as we kept trying to provide payment to our server who kept walking by, trying to attend to the needs of the "regulars". It was a great small townie bar and I miss living in a small town because of that. However, when we're road tripping and stop at places like this, it's important to remember even though you have your regulars... it's the out of town era like us that spread the word of small businesses like this and proved the addition outside flow. It was clear from the staff prepping, this place is hopping for dinner. It was still quiet when we walked in. Apparently back road day drinking is less of a thing in this area? We started with a cold beer to wash the trail dust from our parched throats. Good selection of local crafts and the staples, ice cold, in frosty glasses. They have a popcorn machine in the corner! This is a real plus for us. We feel it's important to replace the salt you lose on the trail (yep, it's a BMW but we had the windows open!). We both went with burgers for dinner. They have a nice selection of burgers, sandwiches, salads and even some entrees on the menu. Our burgers were creative and done perfectly. We bid the friendly bartended adios and hit the trail. We'll be back to the Boonies when our travels bring us back to these parts!

Stopped at Janna's Market Grill this morning after an interview and honestly it was such a cute…read morelittle surprise. The guy who rang up my order was super friendly and kind. He asked if I was from Faribault and when I mentioned I was there for an interview he was really encouraging which actually meant a lot. The place itself has such a cozy small-town feel. It wasn't busy yet since I got there around 9 a.m. so it was nice and peaceful. The decor is adorable and they also have a fun little grab-and-go/shop area with things like soaps, kids items, snacks, and random cute finds to browse while waiting. Food was hot, good, and affordable too. I got the Chicken Fried Steak and a Monte Cristo sandwich. Then of course I somehow left with a slice of cake AND another meal because one of the workers pointed at it and said it was really good. Zero regrets honestly. Definitely the kind of place that just feels welcoming the second you walk in.
