I had a really difficult day that day. We had bad storms and we don't live far from the campground, a couple hours south, but between the storm that not down a tree in our yard, I helped clean up and struggling with my diabetes, and then as I was driving North, a bad lightning storm I wasn't getting any service. I didn't know what to do or where to go. I ended up not spending the night after all, but I can say that communications were wonderful and the facility is beautiful. I did my research before I made a reservation for myself and I was going alone and I haven't been anywhere by myself in 10 years especially since I've become disabled so I ended up having to make other accommodations for the night and didn't get the pleasure of this visit but hopefully there's gonna be something open this weekend and I couldn't have Astro better communication. I can't. I did try to communicate late at night in late into the evening, but they do close their office at five and because of struggles with my diabetes which they have to be dealt with. I can't help that and then the storms here I got a very late start and once I was on my way, and I ran into this lightning storm I had no reception and no visibility. My GPS wasn't working correctly with no reception and this is also in an area that was affected by hurricane Helene and there was flash flooding warnings on the way up to the campground so I did what was the safest best thing for me but I just wanted to say that the prices are wonderful and fair. The facilities is beautiful. The family is kind and very communicative and I will definitely update if we are able to get a spot there this weekend so that our family can go and going with My Husband. I won't have the inability to take care of everything on my Own due to my unique situation so we'll actually make it this time lol I would highly recommend and also I did make it up there the following morning for my getaway and we were all talking about the lightning storm at a couple of places that I went and I was saying what it happened and I didn't make it to my destination where I was gonna stay and everybody that was local was like oh that's the best one out of all of the campgrounds around here if you come back, you need to stay there for sure you missed out and even though you couldn't help it, you know they're an awesome family and they have the nicest place so I did have a good word from local people too, so I'm gonna get a highly recommend for now. I'm sure it will only improve after this weekend. Hopefully there's a spot for us.!

We had to go back through a neighborhood to find the right spot, and we waited for, the camp to bring us to our site. The coffee shop was a nice feature, but we were disappointed that it wasn't open on our way out of town Sunday. We understand why it's closed on Sundays, but the coffee shop, also being open to the public, should be open on Sundays if they're going to use this as a selling feature for coming to Big Mike's. The parking pads are a decent size and we had one right on the river. Since we were there in October, there wasn't a whole lot to do especially in the creek. It was evident at the time that big Mike was still working on expanding and building his dream RV park. The open area field is perfect for families so kids can run around or play ball. Overall, it was clean and the shower facilities were one of the best we'd experienced on our travels. We highly recommend big Mike's RV Resort!

The laundry facilities are good. Didn't use the shower facilities at all so couldn't review those. We have a 39' 5th wheel and had no trouble backing into space 11. The site we have isn't as level as we would have liked but we are making it work. The office, on first glance, isn't very welcoming but the owner is very nice and accommodating. Don't be intimidated by Adeline, the bull mastiff, who is often at the door. She is a big lover dog. The wi-fi is excellent and allows us to stream what we need. (There is no cable and antenna TV gives us 3 channels) We use a JetPak for personal needs. Our Sprint cell service is decent in park, as well. There is a large solar array across the street which tells me this is a pretty sunny spot, which we find to be true. Which is good since we are wintering here this year. We arrived Nov 1 and this was a pretty area in the Fall. We like it here very much and will come back again when we visit our daughter.

This campground is not Big Rig Friendly. After the terrible experience of trying to get into the muddy campsite, we got stuck in the mud trying leave this poor excuse for a campground. We had to call a tow truck to pull us out. Once on the asphalt road, a big rig has to do a three point turn to make a left on 421 from Vanderpool Rd. There needs to be a stop to these terrible campground conditions. The owner has no idea how to properly run a reputable campground and lies to your face about it being big rig friendly. We've been bless to have camped in all 49 continental States and we've never encountered such a dump.

Beautiful lake, nice boat ramp and a small beach area. Bath houses are old need to be upgraded but had good hot water. Most of the camping sites are permanent sites. Only ten sites that rent. Any site you that you may rent are all great. Graveled full hook ups and picnic table. A nice tree at every site so you do have some shade. Not far to bathhouses. Will be going back there for a weekend.

I had to calm down after my visit at blue ridge ranch before I wrote this review…read more The ranch itself and staff members were great. The owner himself ( Troy) was absolutely inappropriate with comments he made to our family especially considering he claims himself as a Christian and that God himself told him to make this property a ministry "hope for his children". My biggest concern is the integrity of the owner (Troy). There were several comments made during our Fathers Day trip that was completely out of line and absolutely not taken out of content as he indicated in a response to my sister Hope Londerees review. In fact we left early bc of it. Although it would take too long to write every detail of the conversation, Here's what was said: Upon the arrival of our dad and mom, there was a conversation that occurred at the welcoming and Troy told my dad he he heard it was his birthday (which it wasn't and no one even said it was) but that he (Troy) was having "strippers" come! (Totally left us uncomfortable and questioning- uh that was weird) The second uncomfortable encounter was when we were about to take the tour and he came over to our golf cart and in a conversation about my moms cancer, he said he knew a cure for cancer and went in and he gave my mom a big hug, hiding her tight, (it was totally awkwardly and unsolicited) and proceeded to tell my dad that "she's a keeper and he better watch out bc he's going to steal her from my dad". (This comment felt very awkward and especially made more sense with the comment later to come that night to my dad!) The third issue was said directly to my 13yo daughter when we were all having conversation in the outpost about life and success.. even when Troy's wife was present in the outpost (which tells me she's fully aware of his behavior and the controlling/demanding demeanor). He asked my daughter as he leaned into her "would you do anything I tell you to do", and as she looked at him awkwardly he proceeded to ask her, " do you trust me". - that comment immediately brought a RED FLAG to me as a mother that a grown man, that my daughter does not know asked such a question of her! If fact I called out the comment and praised her for saying no to him and later she let me know she was fully uncomfortable with him and didn't want to see him the remainder trip. Troy was challenging my daughter to read a book and get back with him about it for a free night stay. (does this not scream WATCH OUT FOR THIS GUY! What's the intentions?) The last draw- the power in the valley went out and Troy came up to our RV's (half drunk) and when we discussed if an "emergency" was needed they had a backup generator, I commented that it's just my folks have c-paps and with moms cancer we don't want her to get hot... Troy proceed to say, "You know what, it just occurred to me, (looked straight at my dad) She can just come sleep with me!" WHAT???? Are you kidding me? The audacity of this guy! I had enough! I called him out.. told him how since we had been there he's said nothing but disrespectful comments to our family and the fact that he's calling himself a Christian and saying that this place.. and the "Hope for his children" non- profit was Christ based, that he was not representing it at all. I told him how we would not be back again. I walked off and so did TROY. Our three family's there decided to pack up and leave the next day. We had enough of the disrespect from the owner. During our discussions we determined we were pretty sure that the wife and staff was fully aware of Troy's demeanor as a man and what is so sad is that families drop off your kids here for camp and trust this place to care for their children. All I can say is all of us felt in our Spirit something is not right! If Troy (the owner) wasn't present and the comments weren't said then otherwise we'd say that the place is beautiful and lots of great memories can be made. This trip was not so pleasant for us and left a bad taste in our mouth for a "ministry" that was run by a man with lack of integrity.

The staff at Sugar Hollow are friendly and accommodating and are continuing to expand their facilities. While we were there, the laundry area was completed and six new "long term" sites were cleared by inspectors. It is a remote area of Tennessee, but has all of the necessities within a ten minute drive. Do yourself a favor and check out the wood fired pizza at Smokey Mountain Bakers nearby. The six cheese is our favorite. And if that doesn't satisfy you, larger metro areas are with a 30 minute drive.

Getting inspections, permits and construction completed to open this new park wasn't easy in the midst of the pandemic, but they were committed to their dream; After many frustrating delays, the full hookup campground is now a reality for us all to enjoy. We spent 2 nights here and loved our site, the deck over the rushing stream was a perfect place to sip coffee in the mornings and whiskey in the evenings. The dog park gave our pup the chance to run free, the clean bathhouses gave us a place to freshen up and the location gave us the ability to explore all Asheville had to offer, climb to the top of Mount Mitchell (the highest point East of the Mississippi) and just enjoy the surroundings. Our site had a full hook up, electric and water (even with temps in the low 20's at night), we had a fire ring (or square), a picnic table perched on the deck, cantilevered over the stream, and lovely (back-in) site with privacy and shade. We can't wait to come back.

Very nice play area for the kids, nice bathroom facilities, a great group pavilion with a fireplace & TV, and a well equipped camp store. The park is near the Blue Ridge Parkway and several nice towns with craft galleries. Many of the guests told me they had been coming for YEARS. There is nice landscaping between spaces and several of the spaces had decks over the trout stream. This RV Park has added many acres next door and is expanding. I look forward to returning to some of the friendliest staff!!

The owner is great and the host (Mike) is beyond amazing! We've been camping there for 8 years and love it more each time we go. The camper spots are very spacious and C1-C3 are completely shaded. C3 is the best by far! But you have to book early because C3 is very popular! Some things to know before you go! They do not have water hookups at the sites - you fill your camper tank with water at the office area. They have spots with electric hookups. They have a dump station where you can empty your tanks on your way out. This is a simple & beautiful campground. There are trails to walk/hike, mountain view to see, bathhouse with 3 bathroom/showers, and one with just a bathroom. This is by far the cleanest bathhouse I have ever seen. They show great attention to this campground and make sure all their campers are happy. You can also purchase wood at the office. There are a few t-shirts for sale at the office, as well. If you haven't checked it out, you are truly missing out! This is a great place with great people!
