My husband and I stopped here for lunch while staying at a friends cabin and I am glad we did! We ordered the brisket sandwich and the shrimp tacos. Both were quite good, the tacos I would definitely get again. The brisket was a little dry - it could use some bbq sauce with it. Ordered a gluten free brisket sandwich. Found a macaroni noodle in it. Waited 20+ min for the check. They had charged us for another tables food as well. After asking for the other tables food be removed they gave us a new unitemized receipt that at least appeared to have the right total. Completely disappointing and unsafe for Celiacs read more

I'm so confused. We placed an order for pick up and we got an text message saying our food was done a few minutes earlier than originally predicted by the online platform. We showed up at the scheduled time. Imagine my surprise when I walked in to find out the food wasn't done and I waited for an additional 20 minutes while half a dozen servers kept telling me it would be up in just a minute. Hard to give any stars when we were not even served. Made reservations well in advance. When we get there, our tables were not available. Had to wait a bit on a very busy night for them to "figure it out". We were finally sat at a larger table and waited for 20 minutes without a single server coming to greet us. Tried to make eye contact with the many servers walking around and past us, to no avail. We used the RESY app and noted our special request under that section but were told when checking in, "we don't actually look at that until you get here". So asking for tables together or anything really special will be ignored, please keep that in mind. Left and had a great meal and wonderful service at the OP. Went on on Thursday night. We were celebrating my birthday and our daughter getting her first job. Right off the bat we were welcomed by a nice host and seating in a very romantic setting in a booth near a fireplace. Our waitress was Manda and she was absolutely Amazing. We ordered the lamb lollipops, burger, kids meal and a steak. Hats off to the chef cause our meals were cooked to perfection, so delicious. Manda came out with lit cake and was so unexpected. I don't really know how many stars to truly give it because we were never served, so I can't say if the drinks and food were good or not! We thought we would give this place a try for the first time and we were seated at a busy time on a Saturday night. We then sat there for 20 minutes with not one single person acknowledging us. I understand it's busy and we aren't the type of people who expect immediate service, but 20 minutes is a long time. And we were at a table very near to the front door, so we weren't hidden in a corner booth or anything! I should have counted how many servers walked past us in that 20 minutes and not one "I'll be with you in a minute", just nothing. I've never just walked out before, but we did, it was very disappointing for our first visit. We live nearby and we were excited to have a new place to go read more

I ate here once before, shortly after they opened, and in summary the food was great but service less than satisfactory. I just came here again to give them another shot, hoping they've found their groove. This time it was one of the roughest experiences I've had dining. Firstly, it took 10 minutes of standing by the host stand to even be acknowledged, and 5 times that for the food to come out, even though there were only a few other tables. When it did come out, it was out of order, with my meal straight up missing ("the cooks threw it away, it was a whole thing"), and then it arrived incorrect. We had to ask our server for a to-go box 3 times as she kept wandering off to roll silverware. The beer was decent, very middle of the road representations of a variety of styles. And again, the food was pretty good in the end, but not worth the stressful 2 hour experience we had. Considering ordering ahead for takeout as the food greatly outclasses the service. read more

My mother wanted to go to the new restaurant in Duluth so we brought her out on a Saturday night. Boomtown was super busy and packed with people but we had made on line reservations and were seated quickly. We had prime rib sandwich with cauliflower mac, really good. Yard Bird sandwich with their regular Mac and cheese, good seasonings and delicious flavor. Shrimp tacos, lots of shrimp but a little too hot even for someone who likes heat on his food. Also had a starter called Burrata and blistered tomato-awesome!! Food was good and prices reasonable. Our waitress Adair was amazing given how busy it was, attentive and fun! She made our night. We'll definitely be back to try more on their fairly big menu. read more

I normally will not leave a review for a new restaurant until they have time to get their timing and menus practiced for about 6 months. Boomtown has their stuff down! Not only was the ambiance warm and inviting, the service was top notch. And the food...I cannot say enough praises about the food! My wife and I are already planning our next trip to Duluth and Boomtown is going to be our first stop. We have tried this place twice now. The first time we were so disappointed. The fried chicken and mashed potatoes were cold to the touch and I've had better fried chicken from the gas station across the street. The cauliflower salad was okay but way overpriced for what you get. The second time the food was better, but the waitress was rude and slow, which was weird because the place wasn't busy. The reason this review is so low is because our server spent more time telling another table about her relationship than she did helping us. Finally made it out to Boom Town my fiance & I. We had a couple apps shrimp and the steak kabob both pretty good. Pricey to say the least $15 & $16. Then we got the 16 oz prime rib and a garlic chk Flatbread. The Flatbread was hotish but the med rare prime rib was cold and dont tell me its "prime rib" also the zucchini (side) was cold not cool but cold. I've personally managed restaurants and I've expo'd. Window/position 1 "sold" the prime rib too early so it sat and sat and sat in the window and the expo failed to catch it (just touch it as all cooks/mgrs/expos do). Felt as though they were waiting for the flat bread to get done to sell the food & $30 ouch. Also made a small joke to the female bartender guess that was a oops lighten up some. Probably won't go back. Pricey, if we do go back then only apps if on a happy hour price. Emplyees talking about ours being booted for snapping back at guests/customers. Support & defend your staff your all on the same team customers are not always right. Your building a rep and then no one is gonna wanna work for you. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich. Crispy at first, but because you are using a thigh, I think the dark meat makes it soggy as I ate it. The french fries? WAY to big a portion of very thin "nothingness" and cold. Maybe try some crinkle cuts, or gourmet home made chips. read more
