I acknowledge that your local game store is going to pull all sorts of demographics. As a parent, I…read moredidn't know what to expect bringing my 5-year-old into the local game shop. But this is definitely going to be a local store that we'll be going to a lot more, even if the prices are a little higher for them to make margins. This is the kind of game store I want in keep in our community! I'll admit I was a little apprehensive to engage with the staff at first due to my inexperience in this kind of envitonmemt, but my kid immediately gravitated toward the Pokemon cards behind the glass counter and we were asked if there was anything we needed help with. We have been looking all over for affordable, genuine cards to little avail. Unfortunately, the cards at this shop were all way outside our range (he's just trying to get started out): $45+ booster boxes or $5+ individual cards. We were obviously not going to be able to make a purchase today (looking for something like one $5 booster pack) but the team member was very helpful taking the time to explain the kids trading card market, suggest other places to look, offer advice on finding affordable cards, and let my kid take his time to pour over the cards behind the counter. On the way out, he generously shared a simple gift that meant so much for my kid. I don't know if he'll read this but thank you so much for making my kid's day - he was over the moon to have some Pokemon cards of his own to share with his friends at school. This is the kind of local game store that is a treasure to have in the community. I definitely will be bringing my kids around in the future to support it some more! Thanks again!

After having Sunday brunch nearby I was looking for video game stores to stop at on my way back to…read moreWisconsin. Everything Games was close by and open, so I drove over to check them out. The store is impressive. They have an awesome selection of retro video games, board games, LEGO, miniatures for Warhammer, anime related plush, sports cards, and card games like Magic, Pokemon, and Yu-Gi-Oh. There's even a good size gaming area where I saw people playing in a card game tournament. As good as the inventory was, their customer service was even better. A specific video game I wanted was priced $10 more than the current market value, so I brought that to their attention. Rather than getting mad and arguing with me about their prices, the employee pulled up the same website I was using for a reference and confirmed what I was seeing. He then adjusted the price without hesitation. Now that's customer service. I would glad to go out of my way to come back to Everything Games next time I'm in the Chicago area.

I inherited a collection of coins from my Grandfather. I created a list of four coin dealers from…read morethe reviews on Yelp. Costa's was second on the list after stopping at a dealer in Palatine and before coin dealers in Skokie and Morton Grove. I called ahead to all the dealers to be sure that I would not be charged a fee. They all said I would not be charged a fee. When I arrived at the dealer in Palatine, a woman at the front desk informed me there would be a fee of $85.00 per hour. While I was telling her I was told there was no fee a man walked in I assumed was the owner. He barely looked at my coins and gave me a very low offer so I left As soon I walked in to Costa's I was impressed with this place. The staff was very professional and everything was nicely displayed compared to the other dealers who operate out of a "hole in the wall" or what looks like a sleazy pawn shop. I found out I was talking to one of the two brothers that owed the store and he told me he was collecting since he was 11 years old. He gave a comprehensive appraisal of everything in my collection and gave me a price that was in the range of what I expected. I almost sold to him at this point but wanted to visit the remaining two dealers first. After visiting the remaining two dealers I returned to Costa's and cashed in my coins for a nice price. I would definitely recommend making a stop at Costa's if your selling coins or gold or if you are buying gold as an investment. They have a nice selection of gold and silver coins and bullion. They even have some interesting items such as "Silver Bullets" if your looking for novelty gift items.

They were very professional and fair. They took the time to evaluate the collections that I sold to…read morethem.

What a great location for a Michael's, that plaza has a little of everything for everyone. When I…read morewas feeling crafty I decided to come to Michael's to let me choose my adventure. This location must get super busy because their shelves are always pretty empty except the baking and frames area. The craft I decided to pick up was hand knitting, so when I went to look for yarns there were random bins and boxes everywhere but all of the same color and all of it opens so I wasn't sure if it was a returned used bundle or what. Overall the staff was really friendly when I asked if they had any other colors or fully packed bundles in the back. They went to check before telling me that they sell a lot of yarn so it's not uncommon that they're out of colors. Either way overall a super convenient location for Michaela's with helpful and friendly staff.

I've recently started to incorporate a craft into all of my gatherings. Though my most recent craft was a bit of a fail, I was able to get all of the supplies -- modge podge, diamond dust, extra fine glitter -- for our glitter photos. As I said, it was a bit of a fail, but the laughs were unmatched! Join the rewards program, I'm always getting coupons, which helps. I'm not a fan of the self-checkout stations and one of the machines was down.
