Great time to be a comic book collector. I have been looking for a nice comic book store and I finally found one. Beyond Tomorrow Comics reminds me of the old school stores. The store has new owner and he is great to talk to and offered many recommendations of other comics to read. Very friendly service and was very helpful. The Inventory is immense with many back issues and a treasury of Trade Paperbacks. Only criticism is that the hours are inconsistent as they are under-staffed. So, be sure to check google for hours daily. Otherwise, employees are Knowledgeable and eager to help. read more

I love all comic book stores. Comics are one of my favorite things. Reason for the 2 stars is just how packed and unorganized everything was. There was just to much stuff everywhere. There was maybe 3-4 people in the store and we couldn't even move around comfortable enough. Everything was just laying everywhere and I was afraid I'd knock something down. The gentleman at the counter (I think was the owner) was very kind and very knowledgeable. He had customer who was just getting into comics and he answered all his questions and helped him out. This place would get more stars once they organize everything and make room for customers to walk around. read more

Called to the store after driving out by checking the hours online. Closed again. No hours listed any place. This place is NEVER open. Went to his competitors and spent $500 cash. He seems to appreciate business and customers unlike this place. The store owner had the nerve to call me and blame me "for not knowing his store hours!" Terrible place. NEVER again. Super kind and friendly guy. This is a true haven for comic book nerds. You have to search and find the stuff you love. The people complaining about how the store looks and its layout are just looking for some pretty pretty shop and haven't grown up with an old comic shop. (message to you guys, youre just a whiney b*tch) I'd rather take quality over looks and the owner alone is the most knowledgeable comic book gurus ever. Who cares about the opening times, just show up and it'll be worth the experience. There's a donut shop down the road so get a donut and quit complaining about it opening late. To my knowledge this is the only comic book store in Palatine, IL. This location has been around for many years. It is in a little plaza right off of Northwest Highway. It can be a little bit tricky getting in here if you are coming from the opposite side of the road. If you are on the opposite side of the road you will have to turn into one of the businesses up the road & then go through the back to reach this parking lot. When you first walk in here it can be a little hard to find what you are looking for because the store isn't that big but they have so much product here so it can feel cramped. The owner of the store is very nice & very knowledgeable about all of the comics. He can help you find what you are looking for & usually knows what he has in stock. The prices here are pretty fair & comparable to most comic book stores. For a few cents extra charge he will throw in a plastic cover to put your comics in. Overall the this is the only comic store in Palatine & even thought the parking lot can be hard to get into it is still convenient. The stereotypical local comic book store; and that's not a good thing. Walk in, and the owner and sole employee will probably either be on the phone or talking ad nauseum with (actually, probably talking at) a customer about some obscure minutiae of the comic book world (and a lot of times, about how he orders his books--fascinating stuff). While you maneuver your way through the dungeon-like store, you eventually reach the new releases section, which is WAY in the back of the store, at a totally inconvenient location. Selection? Unbelievable. He must order at least five copies of every single book solicited in Diamond Previews, and probably more than that. He's got a TON of back issues and trades, though ask him to find a specific one and (if he can even remember where he put it) you may be waiting ten minutes while he shuffles through stacks and stacks of seemingly randomly arranged books. Overall, I only go to this store if I absolutely have to (i.e. he's the only store in my area that carries a certain indie book). As I'm moving to the city soon, there's no way I'll be going back. read more

Oh boy, where do I start. I guess I'll start when I was in 8th grade, and I was starting to get into comics. I had been to 1 comic book store prior and I was obsessed with finding a local place I could go to all the time. I found this shop and I used to have my dad drive me every Wednesday. I thought it was amazing.... until I visited other comic book stores. Over the years, my patience with- I think his name is Dave? David? I'll call him Dave.- Dave has been strained. Don't get me wrong- I'm ALL about those niche, hole-in-the-wall places full of old shit so piled high you have to wade through it for hours. Heck, this was the first place I drove to when I got my drivers license. But Dave is in his own little world. For a period of time, I thought he was dead because he was NEVER OPEN. I came every other day! No store hours, never answers the phone, never open except Wednesday- if you're lucky. Don't even think about going there for free comic book day, when the store gets more than 3 people in it. Aside from his lack of good business practice- He's been incredibly rude to me and my friends. Multiple times. A friend once asked him if he had the newest issue of Rat Queens and he replied with "The only thing worse than Marvel is Image" Goodness. One time we came in the store and he was sleeping. Had to wake him up to pay for shit. Shoulda just walked out with it instead. If you want to go to a good, clean, quality comic book store that actually has STORE HOURS, go to Keith's Comix on Roselle. It's a bit of a drive if you live in Palatine but my god. Great place! Small place but great to explore and find new things the owner is nice and is doing his best to keep it clean

This place wans't half bad. Im guessing that the owner probably works or something, I never asked, and opens the store once work is over. Never seems to be open durring normal business hours but I would like to note that I drove past and they were open at 11:15pm the other day. That being said I would say that if you're having those late night comic book cravings or work full time on wednesdays, which I do, this place is great. It is a bit stereotypical and the store's a little cluttered compared to some others but it takes me back to the comic book store of my childhood. Good selection and the owner really likes to talk and is willing to answer all your questions. Over all decent. but dont expect them to be open durring normal business hours, its not going to happen. read more

I came in here trying to get caught up on Spiderman. The owner is very knowledgeable and explained how I can easily catch up on Spidey's latest works. He even ordered some comics for me that he didn't have in stock. Great service, selection, and knowledge. 5 stars! Will come back! read more

There is nothing generic about this store. In an age where we can literally type in anything and just conjure up whatever we may want, this store is reminiscent of a bygone age in collecting. A collector can spend a couple hours in this shop, just poring and plowing through boxes, hunting for something in particular and finding something which may never have even crossed his mind until he has it in his hand. In other words, you can hunt. The prices in this shop are mostly reasonable, even though much of today's lobotomized audiences are only interested in massive, dust-jacketed, over-priced re-packages of old material, anyway. Well, he carries that too. It can be difficult to pin down business hours here. People should keep in mind that not everyone is able to run a seamless division between their personal and business lives and shouldn't get all twisted out of shape over that. Best suggestion? Call before you head over and if you get an answer, ask how late the hours are. It's what I do every time. Otherwise you're missing out on a great experience. Love this shop! You do have to call to make sure he's open, but the selection is more than worth the minor hassle. My husband and I have had several good finds here and the owner David is always very helpful and informed. If you're the type who likes to shop and go without much interaction, this place may not be a good fit, but if you enjoy conversation about comics in general, then defintely check it out! I think this place is really great. I am 21 years old and I just started going back to school. Took two years off because I was really unhappy. I went into the story trying to motivate myself to read more and it did just that. I went in and asked him "Any comic books you could get me into." seeing that I haven't read comics for a few years (The last few I read were dead pool, a space ghost comic and the umbrella academy.) He showed me to 1 of two things his dollar comic book section (which is perfect if you want to get a lot of comics for cheep), and his new issues section. He got me into a comic called The goon occasion of revenge part 1. Part two isn't out yet but, part 1 was amazing. I do admit the store is a little small but he has such cool stuff it doesn't matter. Also they are open really strange times and usually closed all day Monday. With that being said I highly recommend going here it is worth it. Ask him anything and he will be able to answer it. read more

I've been going here since 2008 Once I found out my comic store near my house went out of business. Dave is a great guy always answers questions and enjoys conversing. However Free Comic Book Day 2012 was the worst experience I ever had. this comic store is NEVER EVER EVER PACKED. But today ended up being a nightmare. You had to wait in line. Another temp or new was assissting dave with the crowd. and I wanted to pre order a omnibus. The fat stupid nerds who wont stop talking to him when their is a line. He encourages it and lets them talk when their are more people waiting. Bad traffic control for a day that shouldnt be this busy. Im tired of seeing board games and statues in a cramped building where it feels like you are shopping in a video game level. This is the last time my Business will be done with Dave and his comics. I will be going 7 miles for Dreamland. they may have treated me like crap but at least you dont feel 2 feet tall in alice in wonderland like comic shop.....so cramped.... read more
