Great experience in the shop today! Picked up some new stuff and old stuff and the shop owner was terrific. I've been going to North Shore Comics for years and its my favorite place to go to get away from the world for a while. They have a great selection of comics, some are CGC graded, also Pokémon cards and some board games as well. Pete, the owner is an awesome guy and I enjoy our weekly chats when I stop by to pick up my comics. A very tiny shop with a very tiny selection of comics. They do however have a few tables for gaming, and seemed to specialize in Magic The Gathering, and hosting tournaments. So, if that is your MO this may be the shop for you. However if you are looking for comics, I would select another shop. Most shops at least organize by publisher, however I could not makes heads or tails of how the small rack of comics seemed to be categorized, or the equally small section of graphic novels. read more

An amazing store for so many reasons... 1. Comics. There are very few comic shops in the area, this one goes out of their way to make sure the customer leaves happy. If you can't find the comic/graphic novel you're looking for, they'll order it directly to the store. 2. Board games. I was impressed by their choices, these guys are familiar with the good ones (Catan, Dominion, Battlestar Galactica, etc.). 3. Magic the Gathering. This alone deserves 5 stars. Not only do they host weekly FNM, but their drafts on saturday are only $10! Go to any other store in the area (Pastimes, Extreme Games) and you'll be paying $15, easily. 4. Staff. I've been to many comic/gaming shops that give off a cold, sterile feel, like I've wandered into some isolated pit of despair. Not this place! The staff (both official and "unofficial" ie the regular customers) will answer all your questions, keep the mood light, and most importantly, make you feel like a human being and not just another sale. read more

Whenever I am in the area I make it a point to visit this shop. The owner, Pete, is friendly, knowledgeable and willing to help you find whatever you are looking for. If he has it he's right there to locate it for you. If it is more obscure or rare he can help you find it even if it's at another shop. I live nearby so I stop here a couple times a year just to buy some supplies. The owner is extremely welcoming and kind. Also he doesn't try to squeeze a couple of extra dollars off you like any other hobby-related small business would. Always see the lights on with a bunch of kids inside on weeknights which is really nice to see - seems like he runs a nice little community in there. Really has a warm, neighborhood feel. I really enjoyed my time in this smaller comic book store. You do not see many of these anymore. They are competitively priced on many of their items. I like the bargain bin. The comics here remind me of my childhood. I just wish that they were a little more organized for browsing through. But not a deal breaker. As an avid comic book reader, board gamer, and MtG player, North Shore is one of my favorite places to go. If Pete doesn't have what you're looking for, he'll hunt it down for you, and he treats everyone with respect and a jovial attitude. When I first went to the store, about 7 years ago now, I was wearing one of my "physics teacher" shirts, and so he gave me the nickname "Professor", which he's called me ever since. It's a great place, and if you're looking for a place to relax with friends, play some games, and feel welcome, this is your store. I often think of NSC as the Cheers of nerdy stores - everyone knows your name, and they'll greet you with a "Hey!" and a smile when you walk in. read more

This is a small comic shop, the basics. They don't carry Vertigo or any of the more mature lines of comic books, just DC and Marvel. It's a non-pretentious place tucked on the side of the strip-mall, and it has all the new releases each Wednesday. The thing about this store is that if you miss a week, you miss out on a comic book. Pete, the owner, orders comics based on who comes often and who would be likely to buy them. He tries not to keep around the unbought comics, as this is not one of his goals. However, if you miss a comic, he is happy to order it for you and you can have it next week. There are also lots of toys, RPGs, sports cards, and comic back issues. It's a cool store, really convenient, and cozy. Everyone who comes inside the store immediately feels at home and people who come in are very nice and talkative to each other, even people you're meeting for the first time. A haven and oasis for geeks on the North Shore, very treasured. read more

Bad, bad, bad. First off, the place is way too small. there were 6 or 7 people in there for a Magic tournament and it felt like the place was packed. There were 2 tables in the store for the games and it took up half the stores space. I could barely get to the rear of the store to look at the next rack of comics. Which brings me to the next point...the comics. Everything was disorganized. New issues were mixed up with old issues. There was no order. They had some boxes of older back issues that I would have liked to have looked at but I couldn't because the guys who were playing Magic had their backpacks on top of the comics! The guy behind the counter had no problem with this. Which makes perfect sense since some of the newer comics on the racks were bent up or damaged. It looks like they could care less about their business. As a semi-serious comic collector who wishes he was able to own his own store, it bugs me that someone who does seems to care very little. read more

North Shore comics is a fun place to play trading card games, such as MTG, and role playing games. The owner, Pete, is very friendly and always helpful. We live near the store. North Shore seems to have a number of regular, well satisfied comic book clients. We go regularly for the gaming and are happy with the easy going, fun approach of the players and owner. read more
