I was delighted to find the last Houston, Books. Million location last week. Had no idea there was one in Katy Mills Mall. Hadn't been to one since the downtown location closed years ago. Huge selection of books and magazine. They are stacked up in every direction. It's a beautiful thing really. Pretty impressive toy selection also. I can't recall seeing so many Funko Pops in one location. Everything a book store needs with one secret weapon. The employee at the register! Her name was Aubrey, and she was a rock star! The selection is is very good, even if the selection of marked down books appears to have declined. No matter, I bought a book anyway. The service was especially fantastic. Mackenzie, who checked me out, made a game effort to sell me on the benefits of their Millionaire's Club and it took everything in me to resist as she was very sincere, enthusiastic, and polite. If I dropped by Katy Mills more than 1.5x per year, I would have totally joined as the benefits sounded decent. And honestly buying books from people who appear to love books is great. read more

Books a million is exactly what this store is! Books galore. Loved it! I wish it wasn't so far from where I lived. Huge manga section. They also have a few tables of book deals with books only $5-$6. They sell cute reading lights, bookmarks, and other gifts. Lots of variety from travel, health, religion, bunch of Taylor swift items and political. Makes you want to read more. The lady who checked us out was very nice and quick. The store is right by entrance 2 of the mall. Makes for a quick in and out, because that's the only store I wanted to go to. read more

Known as BAM, which is what I say after a night with Barbie. Ahem. Books-A-Million is a fantastic store - and a flag bearer, especially now that Borders is long gone. Barnes & Noble is like the Republican bookstore and who wants that. But BAM is cool. They're a little bit more cheap end and low income friendly than Borders was but are essentially the same thing - which is a major national chain that is giving some sort of rivalry to the high-end overly expensive and oft-obnoxious Barnes & Nobleishness. I like Books-A-Million significantly better from how friendly and casual the store employees and managers are, to the pricing and to the general feel of the store. Granted Barnes and Nobles are made to feel like paradise and they put a lot of money into their stores. But Books-A-Million makes up for that lack of money put into their stores by charging you less and treating you better. You don't really feel like you're being judged when you are here. Try not getting judged at Barnes & Noble. read more

I came in today 3/23/2024. I purchased a pop socket last week which costed me $10.99. Unfortunately earlier today half of it popped up. I still have the receipt and the product. A manger there unfortunately didn't want to corporate with me to at least exchange or return the product. I have been a loyal customer here for a couple of years and was even part of their membership last year. However I'm rating this place 4 stars because Juniper helped me with my exchange for a new pop socket. I'm so bummed. I'm here for an author event and this is the most disorganized one I've ever been to. I purchased the largest package they had which included two signed books(one of which was damaged and they argued with me when I asked for a different copy), a discussion with the author, and a meet&greet/photo opportunity. They sold over 250 tickets and only separated us by who paid to hear the discussion and who didn't(which those people still got to hear it, they just didn't have a chair.) after the author was done taking everyone's questions, they told us all to line up to do the meet and greet. The people who purchased lesser packages than me, are ahead of me in line. I've been in line for over an hour now and I am NO WHERE near getting to meet her. It's supposed to end in 45 min so I'm wondering if it's even going to happen. I'm thoroughly disappointed. Half price did this way better when they handed out numbers based on when you arrived. read more

I was at books a million Katy Mills mall Katy Texas on January 10, 2022 and I purchased a book and the cashier wanted to put it in a plastic bag . I said no thank you I already have a bag. I don't like to use single use plastic's and she said she HAD to give me the bag or else she will get in trouble!! Two weeks before Christmas and store is closing at 6 pm. Wth? Stores don't extend their hours the last two weeks before Christmas anymore? The mall was packed with people shopping but they were turned away. I guess things aren't as bad for a physical book store as I thought. The way the employees treat people doesn't make me want to go back there ever again. There were three staff members guarding the entrance and saying the store is closed. They were rude and snippy about it. I will never go back there again. What would be the point? There are plenty of online book sellers and there is a beautiful Barnes and Noble much closer to home. Borders closed, and the nearest Barnes and Noble is a light-year away. Time to hitch up the mule and wagon, head out west to Katy and see what's at Books-a-Million. Well, there are a million things there, but finding a specific book was difficult. I wanted a current bestseller, "The Help," and was told that they'd be out for another month. Hm...who does their inventory and buying? They have some really odd things here: bestsellers sold next to used library books. Aisles of Itty-bitty booklights sold next to stuffed toys. Go figure. They do have a terrific selection of magazines, though I wouldn't try to find anything remotely "foreign." They have a magazine section devoted to Hunting and Sports. Yeah, you're in the South when there's a 20-foot, 8 row section of magazines devoted to killing Bambi and mounting barracudas. Since this place is in the "We the People" Mall, otherwise known as Redneck Mills--oops, sorry, Katy Mills, don't even think of asking for personalized service here, though the couple people who seemed to staff the place were polite; the cashier took my out-of-state Yankee check without any guff. read more

Do not buy from BAM! Almost two weeks and my book is stuck in pre-shipment, even though the header of the email said "shipped". I go to my account and check UPS and it hasn't been shipped. They haven't even gotten the package. Took two emails to them to finally get a response several days later with some lame excuse that it is the UPS causing the delay and it will take 14 days to get to me--how about actually shipping it first? Do they not realize that most people buy from other places as well that use UPS? I get packages from UPS several times a week with no delays. Seeing other reviews, I am not the only one who has this issue and we all have been given the same response and no product. There are much better places to buy books from online. Not worth the hassle. At least it is only 1 book and I am out of $33 and not hundreds. Update: 3 weeks and nothing. Thankfully Paypal claims is a thing. read more

This was especially true at the midcounter where I was sent by the three people up front who were standing around talking, and not helping anyone. I normally do my shopping on Amazon, but while waiting for a movie to start I decided to check it out. The lay out is huge, but everything is nicely marked. Because the store is so big employees can be hard to find, you actually have to let them know you need help, but hey what you expect from bunch of teenagers. This place deserve absolutely no stars. Sales associates are not helpful at all. Talking with one another and then while one was on break, while waiting for help, they carried on their conversation. Finally when I was able to get help from one guy, he didn't even bother to go look or check the computer. He just said, "we don't have it". Lets start off with the positive. Meeting Andrew Rea was one of the highlights of my life; he was amazing and so were many of the individuals who were staffing the signing. During the 4-hour wait we got the chance to check out a lot of the books and merchandise they carry and it was a pretty great selection of stuff. Would've given a 5-star review but it was kind of disheartening to have such a great experience, go to check out your IG Tags and see that you hosted a book signing for Nazi Barbie aka Tammy Lotion. As a Californian I already was visiting with preconceived notions of my own that I had to curb so to see such an unsavory character in your establishment didn't really help. Yeah, maybe its just business but not all money and publicity are good; I hope to see this place's standards set higher when they're choosing the talent. Not a lot of book stores in the Katy area, fortunately this one is pretty good. They have always had what I am looking for. On the off chance they don't, they will be more than happy to order it for you. Huge selection of magazines. Lots of clearance books. Well staffed, always someone to help you find a book if needed. Lines can be long at times but they move fairly quickly. A frozen yogurt stand is located in the back of the bookstore. Tend to have trendy, popular books and the selection is ok but not impressive for such a large store. If you are looking for best sellers you can find it here but don't get your hopes too high if you want something off of the best sellers list. They sell a lot of pricey coffee table books as well. Not sure why this location is in twice. This listing is misspelled I believe in any case. They have what I want, but finding it is another matter. I think the employees just put it on a shelf - any shelf. At one time their discount membership was free. Now it costs you the same as the one from the sole competitor. The clearance sections in this store are really great. They have new books that are still popular for anywhere from $3-$5. There's a whole shelf of young adult clearance in paperback and hardback. The audio books are also reasonable at about $7-$10. Every time I come, they have a new selection of items. If it wasn't so far away, I would definitely put this store into my book shopping rotation. One of the worst services I got from this store, the staffs are not friendly and very annoying.. I took few items from this store but I did not use them so thought of returning it. One of the staff from the store not only misbehaved with me but also refused to take my items back without any reason.. I politely ask them to help me out but no one listened to me and the top of it , the lady told me to get out of the store.. wouldn't recommend this store at all. Some weird reviews on here, but overall it is the interwebs so always take what people say with a grain of salt and dial it back ten fold. Store staff is great, we have a strong team that has tenure and long standing with the company and it is a great environment to see our team members grow and move up in the world in their personal and professional lives. Great events always going on for sure, authors like Veronica Roth, James Dashner, Kevin Hart, Duck Dynasty, and Paula Deen plus so many more. You can always tell the staff pulls their weight to try and make large events go as smoothly as possible, and at times we may struggle, but a crowd of 3000 16 years olds screaming and cheering can be a little hindering at times so we wing it the best we can and try to keep every guest and every author as happy as we can. Our organisation is similar to any store layout involving books, we are categorised by Fiction and Non-Fiction with sub categories alphabetical by authors last name and subject (I.E. Romance, Teen, History, etc.); at times it may be frustrating cause other guests may not put something back correctly, trust me we know the feeling; but always ask us and if we don't have it, we will most definitely order it for you, I know some reviews say that you can order it for yourself on Amazon, but why do that when we are here to help keep you entertained and do the work for you? We have some pretty great people who are a wealth of knowledge in all areas and if your ever in the neighbourhood stop on by, we are more than happy to help! read more

Like going in here as the discounts are better than I can get on my Kindle and for gifts all the newest calendars and children's gift items are fabulous selection. Somewhat limited on books on cd but found several great ones for $3.97 which make the 100 mile commute more palpable. Staff are extremely helpful and plentiful. Long waits are typical, layout of store is easy. Parking for just this one stop, not ideal. read more
